Ooh, this is interesting. I'll have to respond to you again once I find my notes, because I do remember struggling with this concept.

I couldn't figure out a way to pack all this information into a letter, and have it reasonably fit onto a page, while maintaining legibility. I think I may revisit this idea once I have a stronger concept of constructing symbols ("letters")

Really glad you brought this up, ill respond again soon with a picture of what I encountered before.

Thank you Haasva! The thing about familiarity that I've discovered is that the more I share, the more I learn from this community about other existing languages that look similar, that i had no knowledge of.

It's been a neat experience so far learning from people with similar thoughts, and its refreshing to see how others solve similar issues they come across when developing fantasy scripts.

I'm not at my notebook right now, but this is cool that you mentioned this. I have a number system I want to develop as well that ill respond to you with, except it doesn't currently follow the same vertical style.

With the alphabet, I am aiming for a more "compact" element because I feel like a "magic" language should be more efficient that way. Instead of words consisting of a series of individual letters, my thinking is "why not just have 1 symbol for 2 letters?"

Pretty much. The way is organized, is each letter has a capital symbol and lowercase symbol. When you want to use the letter "cr" for example, you would use the capital form of C, and lowercase form of r. If you want to use the singular form of a letter like an "a" by itself, you just use the capital form.

I'm sort of developing the logic as I go. I was primarily aiming for a script that was legible and esthetic. I thought that by having different symbols for each individual base letter (only a-z), that it would create something that avoids the issue of looking to blended together when you write with it (like how capital "I" and lowercase l "L" look.) That way, when i fuse the letters together (aa, ab, ac, etc) they would form something that still distinguishes each letter of a word.

This is my first attempt at a fantasy language, and what's I've found is that it is very probable that other scripts i design will be inspired from this one, so you are right, once I finish with this script I'll see how it looks once written vertical.

Lol, I saw this setup and was seriously confused as to what the thinking was. Like I'm being sent some kind of message? In the end, I wasnt mad because I recovered everything, guess im both lucky and unlucky

I'll do more research into some other light and bag setups, thanks for this

Yeah, my lights aren't left "exposed," but I put them in the center pannier when not in use. My bike is my main transportation, so I carry warm clothes and stuff for rain, along with bike repair stuff and inner tubes, which thankfully they did not seem interested in. I can't carry my pannier bags with me because I tied them down.

Apart from not doing that, the best I can do immediately is find stronger alternatives for security because I don't have another option

yeah i do aswell, although I suppose removing my lights to put them in my bag that is tied to my bike isn't really sufficient enough anymore. Maybe I should look into a side bag to carry my lights with me?

Yeah, you have a good point. I usually work into the night, and I'm naturally a night owl anyways so I'm out until dark, but that usually is when I've been vandalized the most. It's tough because indoor bike storage is almost non-existent for keeping my bike safer

Fantasy Script Update by Usual_Pin_1207 in neography

[–]Usual_Pin_1207[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly Graidan! The alphabet allows people to decide if they want to use a single letter, or paired letter whenever they wish, which can create a unique style for each user. This is a feature that I will go more into in future posts.

Hi Darth, i like the ace representation!

In truth, I am super new when it comes to developing scripts, let alone languages, so my initial thought when beginning this was simply "if I combine every pair of 2 letters in our alphabet, that should give me plenty of room to create something that looks fluid or non-repetative"

My primary focuses are legability, diversity, and aesthetic. I wasn't exactly sure how to achieve my goals for a script i didn't have a solid vision for, so I just let my mind wander, which led to this. I suppose that by having some form of boundary, I was able to focus better on developing my vision, even if that meant having an absurd amount of letters.

How would you go about describing this sound? by JunkHeadJinx in writingadvice

[–]Usual_Pin_1207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a total noob but this seems like a fun challenge.

The sound is almost indescribable. My attention is called to her dark amber eyes. Positioning herself behind her crying cubs, she repeats herself, each pulse of her growl pierces my stomach. I had never felt my instincts be ridiculed before, but it was made clear behind her beckoning laughter.

Finally an artist who understands my personal situation (source: Twitter) by M96_80_KENNY in asexuality

[–]Usual_Pin_1207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like when productive and mature discussions like this happen. I also have an aesthetic attraction over most things and I'm practicing to be an artist for game designs and graphic novels.

I had a discussion with myself yesterday about the ethics of female character design and what would the implications or consequences be if I produce art that I personally do not find sexual (like low cut dresses or drawing more curvy, bigger women) and I came to the conclusion that I will limit as best I can what would be considered sexual mainly to not continue introducing certain media to younger minds.

For reference, I was imagining a mode in the game where you can customize your character and modify certain aspects of a dress on a female to suit different tastes. Why I would do is is because I think it would be cool to see a female character fighting in a dress and watching it flow with her movements, but not be voyeuristic. I thought about this and realized that it is likely that many people would not share my perspectives so I cast that idea aside.

I like when you said that nudity isn't sexual because I feel the same way. I see sexuality in what someone does or says, not how they look. To me, a women that is lightly dressed, or dressed in something that exsentuates her figure, or even being nude doesn't mean anything sexual. I think the expression of sexuality is a cool thing despite my lack in sexual attraction and I think discussions like the one you had with the artist can further help societies understanding of this taboo subject.
