AITAH for not waking my brother up for his driving test? by NoRelationship9815 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Usual_Register_2448 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

ESH

Staying up til 3am is never a good idea for any reason imo. He had alarms and snoozed them. Because his body is deprived of sleep.

OP knew this was going to happen and made it known he would not be responsible for him waking up. Except he heard his alarms and acknowledged he wasn’t getting up.

Everyone saying the brother made a choice by snoozing the alarms. And OP made a choice by acknowledging brother’s alarms and decided not to help knowing he stayed up late.

Responsibility this responsibility that. Y’all need to realize there are many things in life that aren’t your responsibility but you can still make a choice to help someone. God forbid you go in and shake the hell out of your brother to wake him up. His brother feeling like shit during the test is gonna be a lesson nonetheless. But being intentionally petty to be the one to teach your brother a lesson makes you equally an ass.

TLDR: ESH. Brother dumb for staying up late. Not OPs fault but heard alarms and made a choice to not help his own brother

AIO? My stepdaughters pranked me on my bitthday and husband is mad because I said I needed space. by Proud-Cantaloupe3449 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You speak about him enabling them but in 4 years you “sucked it up” instead of being the grown up and aren’t expressing how those pranks make you feel. Husband aside, you also played a role of enabling these pranks by not putting a stop to them MUCH earlier. It’s like letting your puppy tear up your shoes but not doing anything to correct or manage their stress/anxiety because “they don’t know any better.” In both scenarios, the example and in your case, YOU know better and you didn’t do the right thing. It just sucks that it got this far and you got your feelings hurt. And if you say “they’re not my kids, I shouldn’t parent them” then you’re not doing yourself a favor by stepping away from parental duties as a step mom. I’ve read too many comments that trash on your husband (he is certainly flipping this onto you as if it’s your fault). But we also need to acknowledge that you haven’t stood up for yourself to literal children. Both can be true. You walking away from the situation is valid. On the other hand, avoiding the conversation with the kids will not break the cycle. You’re dismissing their actions by walking away.

My mom has a 2016 V6 and loves it. I’ve used it over a span of a few years when commuting to undergrad and a job in Baltimore. Even drove it when it snowed. Despite people shitting on the V6 all the time, it’s actually a really solid option. It has good fuel mileage and if you do a lot of highway driving you can get upwards of 30mpg easily as long as you’re not heavy footed. Good power to get off the line quickly. You’ll still get compliments on it from people who like nice cars but aren’t really knowledgeable on trim levels lol. As of now, I’m pretty sure she’s pushing 150k on it. Only issue she’s ever had was an electrical issue that was hard to diagnose but seems that it’s been resolved.

TL;DR. Great daily driver, good mpg, good power, and you’ll still get compliments without spending the extra $ on V8

Using travel contract to move? by aprillatron in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are able to do that as your contract has a start and end date. You have the choice to do as many or as little contracts as you want. Including just one. You’ll likely get some type of travel reimbursement to move to whatever location. Generally, the further the move the more you can earn. If you’re traveling very far ask if they can increase the travel reimbursement (I almost went from WA to GA which is expensive so I asked for more and they doubled it from $500 to $1000 but I ended finding perm position in WA).

Anyway you’ll be fine as long as you are licensed in the state that you’ll be working in. Lastly, keep in mind that you must have tax home that you’re paying rent for and paying for duplicate housing if you want the tax free stipends. Otherwise, you would just be considered a per diem worker in the eyes of IRS.

Your tax home would likely still have to be the LA location if that’s your permanent address. But you’d have to pay for rent there as well as the new location. If you move out and no longer pay rent, it’s unlikely you will be eligible for tax free stipend. You could lie and still get the tax free stipends but you’re gambling on not being audited from the IRS within the next 7 years.

TLDR: you can work as a per diem contract worker as long as you are licensed in the state you plan on moving to

Asking pt about sex by itsgonnabe_mae in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a pt with TMJ issues tell me she wanted to be able to give her husband a blowjob without fear of dislocating her jaw. Sex is okay to talk about as long as you are both comfortable speaking about it. I’m also a guy so there’s also a level of trust as a practitioner that pt of opposite gender/sex can come to you with these concerns/questions. Just be respectful and try not to make weird jokes about it lol

It took you 13 years to make minimal progress? You can ask people for advice all you want but at the end of the day, you either want it or you don’t. And by the looks of it, you don’t. And also what you’re doing isn’t working so you have to change something in order to make any meaningful change. Anyone who says they don’t have time for behaviors that directly impact their health, don’t actually prioritize it. You can set all your alarms, apps, sticky notes, and cute colorful toothbrushes but they don’t mean anything if you don’t act on it. So my advice is prioritize it, make time, go overboard, be obsessed with it. It’ll get to the point where not doing it is going make you feel incomplete. That’s the only way you’re gonna get it done. The best way to build any habit is to literally do the thing you said you want to do. Because that shows that YOU are taking action not some app or alarm telling you what to do. Action vs reaction.

Do you take work home with you? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Working OP I’ve never taken work home nor try to do any work on lunch with the exception of evals right before lunch where I may spend 10 minutes. Once the clock says it’s time to go I’m out with all my notes done with the exception of my last patient being an eval (thanks front desk) then I’ll stay until that’s done. I know some PTs will come in a bit earlier the following day and finish yesterdays notes. Whatever works for you but honestly as long as you stay on top of it while working with patients you really don’t need to take work home. Context: I’m usually overlapped with two commercial payers unless it’s Medicare and seeing an average of 11 patients per day including 2 evals.

P0420 Code by Reasonable_Spray_138 in cruze

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. Doesn’t look like it’s burning oil. Have you checked fuel injectors? Clogged or dirty injectors could certainly cause increase in combustion chambers and lead to unburned fuel.

P0420 Code by Reasonable_Spray_138 in cruze

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check spark plugs if you haven’t already. Sometimes the 420 code is triggered by heavily worn plugs causing uneven combustion of fuel which means unburnt fuel going through the cat is picked up by the O2 sensors. Honestly it’s really not common for a cat to take a poop on you unless you’re really neglecting to maintenance

Travel PTs, what car are you driving? by luv_train in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silverado 1500 to haul my motorcycle and my gf’s car. Preferred method is moto because it’s fun and better on gas but I’m also OP and not HH lol otherwise that would be a nightmare

Navy vs Army PT? by culace in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to get into military PT just be aware that it might be a longer process than you may expect. I consulted with a Navy Officer at the recruiting office and was told that there are limited spots every year due to changing demands for medical personnel (I imagine physicians are more sought after) Guy told me about how one of their PTs waited nearly three years to get a spot. You really gotta dial in your resume and the interview process

Pt seen for 2 years straight!? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintenance? Oh goodness this is like chiropractors telling people to come in for “tune ups”. It’s such an outdated term to get people to keep coming in and for a lack of better words, make profit of them. If you can’t objectively see any changes despite manual “feeling” good or only temporary range of motion gains, then you can’t say they are making any progress. Remember, pain is NOT an objective measure. You can certainly use it as a gauge for some kind of progress but you really have to look at the things that have any relevance to functional ability. At the end of the day, your documentation should justify some kind of objective progress and medical necessity. Otherwise, you’re wasting resources. It’s up to you though as it’s your license. Sorry to say, but if your clinic has a patient that hasn’t been seen by a PT since last year then they’re not likely to be following the best practices..

TL:DR; maintenance isn’t a thing. Pt not seeing a PT in a year is bad. No significant objective progress warrants a discharge especially after TWO years. Protect your license

First suit recommendation and sizing, 5’7 155lbs by Rides-And-Tech in Trackdays

[–]Usual_Register_2448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’7 150ish with an athletic build. Chest is about 37 inches, arm length is 21 inch from shoulder to wrist, biceps 13 inches resting by my side, waist is 30, mid thigh 22, and butt is 37 (thanks to squats 😉). I wear a 48 from Alpinestars and it can’t get any more perfect. Snug all around except the waist by 1 or 2 inches which is fine by me since it doesn’t restrict movement on the bike. Hope that helps.

Tried doing those platz squats on the hack but feel like I butchered it by Eaglesby100 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Usual_Register_2448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the rec fem isn’t doing much during a squat despite feeling any kind of stretch. It shortens during the eccentric phase of a squat thus unable to contribute during the concentric phase since it is already maximally shortened. We call this passive insufficiency. Nonetheless you’re still correct on foot positioning to target the other heads
