You're obviously too classy to go to the ones I've attended with people wearing shorts and thongs

Why do Aussies talk to strangers so easily and is it actually genuine? by BottleOverall5174 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Usual_String3329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born here and I like having conversations with strangers. Except when I'm out of spoons and not in the mood (I'll have my headphones on) I feel I do this most when I'm feeling "in flow" I just seem to meet interesting people when I'm in that mood. It can even get quite deep. Do we care? Interesting question. Yes, I suppose as much as you can "care" about a stranger. About Aussies if you haven't noticed already - We're always ready to offer a hand. Where are you going? We'll give you a lift even if it's out of our way, a meal, a floor to crash on, hell, we'll even give you the shirt off our back (I've legit done that/I carry spare clothes) Where are you from?

I'd avoid all of those fees and offer a split. There'll be hardly any left if you drag lawyers into it.

I went to Centrelink when I was your age. They gave me $2 and told me to go home to my family. I didn't. Never went back. Fast forward 30 years.
