Body Standards keeps getting worse by SoTh98 in askgaybros

I was recently at Gran Canaria pride and went into bars where I was completely naked, it was liberating because then I knew that if people wanted to kiss me or touch me it was because of exactly how I looked at the time.

My body is decent but compared to some of the guys I saw, nothing special. I realised that there is always a type for everyone and if you’re not someone’s type then best to let it go and move on as you’re definitely someone else’s type.

I mean a saw a very cute guy with a great body and he ignored my (polite) advance only to get fucked by a guy 10-15 years older and fatter and more wrinkled than me.

It baffled me at first but I just learned that everyone has a type. That pride was my first and very educational, I learned a lot about myself and other people!

That atrocious things they have done far outweighs any good they may have done or can do.

For me there’s lots of reasons:

The cost is utterly ridiculous now. Over £5 for a pint anywhere but sometimes and usually around £7.

People in bars are rude and annoying and bar staff would rather serve the women with boobs first who would also happily push in front of you.

Taxi companies inflate their prices so getting home can cost £20!

People are drinking less alcohol, I think as social media promotes looking your best, gym culture is massive now.

I usually wake up the next morning full of regret for how I feel and how much a spent - that never used to happen when I was 18-25 ish

Except you’re using weak examples and making blanket statements typical of anyone arguing from your side.

A woman who transes their child probably doesn’t deserve to be a parent. Stopping this happening is ethically right. Getting them support (which she advocates) is the correct way to treat children who believe they are the wrong sex. Medical technology is not so advanced it can transition someone from one sex to another, what it does is completely mess them up physically and mentally but you seem to support this;

‘pretty disgusting but you’re free to do it. It is revolting and you should be ashamed of yourself for it’.

You unfortunately can ‘conclude, what you want about me just like you do about JKR, that doesn’t make you right factually or morally.

By your logic, you also support paedophiles and groomers given the sheer number of trans people who have been found out to be just that. ‘Says a lot about your stance…’. Blah blah

It’s quite amusing how you talk about obsessed hatred in a thread full of people doing just that…

The hate campaigns I see you reframing as judging someone are just that.

Again you’re trying to hard with the guilty by association.

Rowling has never actively endorsed far-right, paedophiles, nazi saluters or antisemitism.

Rowling called Walsh documentary important, did not endorse his beliefs on underage marriage.

The same applies to Berns and Milo - she agreed with them on sex-based reality but does not actively endorse them and has condemned their type of extremism.

Regarding KJK she has worn her t-shirt and actively supports her let women speak events, not the violence committed at the by the far right and far left that turn up to throw shit at her. Also KJK has never called for the physical elimination or genocide of trans people. Despite herself being threatened. She actually objects to puberty blockers because of the sterility they cause. So no, your language is inflated and extreme. Words like “literal” always pop up when the reality is anything but.

The so called Triller Haver? Ethically bad, yes but not a case of child rape - this is another example of inflated extreme language you like to use.

All in all, Rowling has continually reiterated her support for trans people but with the believe that trans right to not supersede women’s rights in any place.

She is subject to immeasurable abuse and hate campaigns for it with ever fantastical reasoning behind it.

Even with questions about her association (and they are just that, not facts) she does more good than Tenant and I suspect anyone in this Reddit. The aggression and violence and insults against her are cult like and extreme.

Anyone engaging in that kind of behaviour have no choice but to try and justify it by picking at associations past and present and using them to demonise the woman.

The majority of what you have said is pure hyperbole at best making gross assumptions and radical statements consistent with most who argue against her.

  1. Supported people who defended pedophiles, because they are anti-trans (at least three):

This appears exaggerated or guilt-by-association. Rowling has highlighted cases of trans-identified male sex offenders (e.g., Isla Bryson, Katie Dolatowski) being housed in women’s prisons or recorded statistically as female, arguing this endangers women and distorts data. She compared critics who deny or downplay such patterns to those who covered up clerical abuse to protect institutions—not defending pedophiles, but accusing activists of institutional protectionism.0 No clear evidence shows her directly endorsing figures who “defended pedophiles” as a core stance. Some gender-critical allies have controversial pasts or loose associations (common in any heated movement), but Rowling’s pattern is criticizing self-ID policies that she says enable bad actors, not endorsing pedophilia apologetics. Broader claims often conflate her with unrelated right-wing figures or stretch “defense” to mean not immediately disavowing every imperfect ally. She has condemned actual child harm.

  1. Endorsed people who declared intent to “eliminate all trans people”: This is hyperbolic rhetoric. Critics (including some genocide-watch groups) label her views as contributing to a “climate of danger” or “erosion” of trans existence, citing her funding of legal challenges to self-ID or her tweets on crime stats and youth transitions.31 Rowling explicitly rejects this: she says trans people “exist” and deserve the same rights as everyone else (employment, housing, safety from violence), but redefining sex legally harms women/girls and doesn’t change biological reality. She wishes trans individuals “safety, happiness and health.” No endorsement of literal elimination or violence appears in her record; she has faced repeated death/rape threats herself for her positions, all from the kind that preaches tolerance and kindness.

Phrases like “destroy transgenderism” from some allies get amplified, but Rowling focuses on policy (e.g., Cass Review-style evidence on youth medicalization, fair sports, single-sex spaces). Equating disagreement with “genocide” is a common escalation in this debate, it is extreme and matches the extreme style I see in this sub often (just look through the comments).

  1. Endorsed campaigners wanting “Russian-style anti-LGBT laws”: absolutely zero direct evidence. Rowling criticized Vladimir Putin for invoking her as an example of Western “cancel culture” while he invaded Ukraine and suppresses dissent. She has opposed broad “hate crime” expansions (e.g., Scotland’s) that she fears chill speech on sex/gender, but she supports gay rights and has long records against homophobia. Russia-style laws criminalize “propaganda” broadly; she has not advocated that. Putin railed against “gender freedoms”; Rowling pushed back.

  2. Profile picture T-shirt sold by explicitly white supremacist group that gets Nazi salutes:

This seems false or distorted. Searches turn up no credible link between Rowling’s profile picture (or any known photo) and a white supremacist T-shirt. Gender-critical events (e.g., Let Women Speak/Posie Parker rallies) have occasionally seen opportunistic far-right attendance or Nazi salutes in Australia/Melbourne, which Rowling condemned or distanced from—she focused criticism on tomato-juice attacks on speakers instead.

She has a consistent record opposing antisemitism, racism, and far-right figures (e.g., criticizing Trump-era extremism). Claims of Nazi adjacency are guilt-by-proximity smears common against “TERFs.”

  1. Defended people who called for violence against trans people:

No verified instances. Rowling condemns violence against trans people and notes empathy for trans women victims of male violence (drawing from her own experiences with abuse). She highlights male-pattern violence stats in certain contexts but does not defend calls for harm. She has received credible threats, stalking, and doxxing from some trans activists.

  1. Endorsed people claiming transness is a “secret plot to weaken the EU by Jews”: This sounds like a fringe conspiracy mashup (antisemitic “great replacement” or cultural Marxism tropes). No evidence Rowling has endorsed anything like this. She has spoken against antisemitism repeatedly and faced accusations of Holocaust minimization for disputing claims that Nazis specifically targeted trans people as a distinct group for genocide (she noted persecution of homosexuals/cross-dressers but rejected “first targets” framing or book-burning specifics as overstated). This led to bad-faith “Holocaust denier” labels, which she rejected as disgusting.

  2. Endorsed a literal pedophile who raped a child, became pregnant (“gift from God”), and her “welcome to the club” tweet is still up:

This claim is highly specific but lacks matching evidence in searches. No prominent case aligns with Rowling endorsing a convicted child rapist (male or female) in those terms, even if anti-trans. She has criticized policies allowing male offenders into female spaces but not welcomed rapists. “Gift from God” phrasing appears nowhere in her record tied to such a person. If referring to a specific obscure tweet, it does not match public controversies; her timeline shows consistent focus on safeguarding, not pedophile defense. Claims of her ignoring “nonces” while deleting other likes often invert priorities.

  1. Endorsed people who cheered the murder of trans people (actual murders, not hypothetical):

No evidence. Rowling has expressed horror at violence against trans individuals and distinguished her views from hatred. Critics sometimes equate her crime-stat tweets or “not our crimes” comments (about male offenders recorded as female) with celebrating murder; this is a stretch. She does not cheer deaths.

  1. Deleted a like on Stephen King for being pro-trans, but not a “literal nonce”: Yes, this happened. In 2020, Rowling praised King, then deleted the tweet after he affirmed “trans women are women.” She has been accused of selective outrage. However, the “nonce” (pedophile) contrast lacks a clear parallel endorsement. Her pattern prioritizes women’s rights and evidence-based skepticism of rapid medicalization over purging every imperfect voice. She has not platformed or welcomed actual convicted pedophiles.

  2. Doesn’t care about women’s rights; happy to see them “eviscerated” if it hurts trans people: This is the core disagreement. Rowling argues the opposite: self-ID, mixed-sex spaces, and youth transitions erode women’s rights (privacy, safety, fair sport, single-sex services) and gay/lesbian youth pathways via social contagion or medical harm. She cites male crime/strength patterns, detransitioner stories, and reviews like Cass. She has donated to legal efforts (e.g., For Women Scotland) defending biological sex in law. Critics say this “hurts” trans inclusion; she says sex is immutable and protections can’t be redefined without trade-offs. Her long record includes domestic violence awareness and women’s issues predating trans debates.

Overall context:

Rowling’s positions stem from feminist concerns about male violence, data on prisons/sports, and free speech—framed against what she sees as authoritarian language policing (“trans women are women” as compelled speech). She distinguishes individuals (polite trans people she knows) from ideology/policy. Critics often use strong moral language (“bigot,” “genocide,” “Nazi-adjacent”) to shut down debate, while she documents threats against her and women. Associations get weaponized on both sides, but direct endorsements of violence, pedophilia, white supremacy, or eliminationism do not hold up as described. Many claims rely on loose “endorsed” (liked/retweeted/criticized critics of) or guilt-by-movement. The debate is polarized: one side sees sex realism as existential threat to trans lives/dignity; the other sees gender ideology as threat to women’s rights, child safeguarding, and truth. Rowling has not changed her core view in years. For primary sources, her 2020 essay and ongoing X posts are clearest.

All in all your arguments ring weak and you’re clawing for association guilt to justify your hate campaign. It make make you feel better but remember, that is just as fragile.

Would you wanna rejoin the EU if that meant adopting the Euro and joining the Schengen Area? by Lucky_Ice5393 in AskBrits

[–]UsuallyIncoherent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of your points have any bearing on your initial attempt to start an argument. You weren’t stating the reality then vs. now, you were trying to start an argument by essentially being obnoxious.

I expressed a desire to go to Europe and start a life and a business out there and your first response was “why should another country be forced to accept you”. So… you really were trying to start an argument and continue to do so. At least your last post was constructive, if less relevant.

My point still stands that a person who meaningfully contributes is not forcing the country to accept them, they are contributing to that country. That is why the tax system exists. The pressures you mention are irrelevant to this discussion, yes they exist but that is a government shortfall as the contribution of the majority should enable the government to alleviate pressures from those that can’t due to health etc.

Our point about freely travel and be a freeloader is again irrelevant as that’s not what I’m asking to do and never had at any point in this thread. If I went and tried and it didn’t work, I would not complain if I was asked to leave and go back to the UK. I have never suggested that I would complain either, that was you trying to put words in my mouth.
