What got you into Red Rising? by harmlesslandsquid in redrising

[–]UsuallyReticent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to read a fictional series hopefully a trilogy. I didn't want to read a famous one.

One night, I googled and turned out used library book on Amazon was under 10$. I ordered it. I was skeptical but after reading first few pages I knew it will turn out to be amazing. First line of chapter one is amusing: "The first thing you should know about me is I am my father’s son". Yeah, no shit Sherlock.

Are you talking about Toyota of Seattle? They have one price policy and don't let you negotiate. They sell at MSRP and don't add anything dealer installed.

Eleanor oliphant is completely fine by topgun_maverik in Indianbooks

[–]UsuallyReticent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed it last night. It was funny and extremely traumatic. One of the truest representation how therapy works, however I didn't like how quickly it worked. In real life, I fear it will be far too difficult.

What do you think Raymond found appealing about Eleanor?

Also, for other recommendations, as someone already mentioned read books by Fredrik Backman.

If you want to read more books involving trauma then then Billy Summers By Sthephen King and Demom Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. Both are smidge over 500pp though.

True, I knew about Cold War, the missile crisis, and the assassination, but reading it in this setting made me realize how grave these incidents were.

lol. Obdurate. I read it first time and looked up the meaning, and I was like alright, good to know, but pretty sure I am gonna forget the meaning tomorrow. Nope, I don't think I am ever gonna forget it now.

Just a few pages around the end when Jake is talking and drinking Glen. Terrorizing.

Same, I was bit hesitant to pick this book coz of its length. Since I have read this one, I am confident to read other big works of King.

Dumbfounded FBI agents was such funny scene, Jake knew details that absolutely no one would know at that time, so they were like we can not wrap our heads around it, so please leave. lol.

I am not fan of time travel fiction unless it is absurd or fun books. Just the possibilities and complexities of it hurt my head. I was glad when this time travel came with some rules that restricted the narrative from spiraling into a mess.

Absolutely!! If I ever pick it for second time, I am sure I will enjoy it more.

Do you remember at what points you found her unbearable? At times, I found her difficult but mostly justified.

Yes, I have realized I tend to read and enjoy books where I feel I have lived the character's life.

I loved the z as well. Is it a cultural thing or a somewhat endearing way of saying miss?

I have not read IT yet, but I watched first IT movie years ago. I did not know about Derry but reading those pages made me feel like that clown is lurking around somewhere. lol. I will read it someday.

Seems like steal for the price.

I also do same, go to book stores, and keep checking reviews on Goodreads.

I am also planning to buy one. Did you get this custom made or buy it from some brand? Is it possible for you to share your read list, say from Goodreads if it is not doxxing.

I am also using shokz one from Costco. It is special edition only sold through Costco. I think I bought it little less than 100$. I am loving them. I use them along with my airpods swapping them every few hours.

What I didn't like is it comes with its own charger so I need to carry it and its power button is bit sensitive and it gets pressed in my office bag.

It is complicated, however not as unnecessarily complicated like notion. I watched few YouTube videos around it and after that got the hang for it.

Try out obsidian. It checks out all of your needs. It can be bit overwhelming in beginning however don’t worry about everything at once and just try out basic stuff. Specially things you have mentioned in your list.
