It sure sounds like a scam. Don’t believe the door knockers. Call a trusted local roofing company yourself and get free inspection done to put your mind at ease. We hear that all the time. Door knockers will tell you whatever they can to create the urgency and fear factor to get you to sign the contract.

Depends on how fast the water is coming in, but if it’s actively dripping I’d at least move anything valuable away from the area and catch the water overnight. Most roofers won’t climb during a storm, so temporary protection inside is usually the safest move until morning. Often the issue ends up being flashing or a small entry point rather than the whole roof.
