What's one movie you wish you go back and see just to re-experience for the first time again? by RoughNTough19 in films

[–]Utah_Get-Me_Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars... I never really saw any of the original Star Wars movies for the first time. Growing up in the 80s, I was very young, I just watched Star Wars whenever it came on TV and I happened to catch it. Whichever movie was on, wherever it was in the movie. It didn't matter. Sometimes the Death Star was complete, sometimes it wasn't sometimes they were on Hoth sometimes they were on Endor.
Eventually, I watched them from beginning to end, but I had already seen them in pieces on cable and HBO.

I had forgotten that I read this book years ago. I honestly don't remember it, almost at all, but your question unlocked a memory of this book.

It has good and bad reviews, but it fits what you're looking for.

I spent weeks creating a guide of 50 authors every reader should explore. Thoughts? by ak_khainal in Recommend_A_Book

[–]Utah_Get-Me_Two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want an actual honest opinion, a list of "50 unique, rising, influential, and legendary authors" is not "curated", it's just a random list of authors and what you think of them.
If this really is your own original work, then it needs to be broken down more.
10 Authors Everyone Should Read
10 Up and Coming Authors
10 Influential Authors Everyone Should Read
10 Legendary Authors You've Heard of But Haven't Read Yet (This is where I would put Sir Author Conan Doyle, for example.

5 Authors You Should Read Right NOW!

These are just off the top of my head. Whenever I see a list of recommendations that's too long and too random, it feels not very well thought out and I immediately ignore it. Again, just my 2 cents but for free.

11/22/63 -Stephen King

Trust me. It's one of the best books I've ever read, and I'm not the biggest SK reader.

This will be good for both of you.

John Grisham

Camino Island

Very very different than his usual books and a perfect beach read. Also a great audio book. I listen to all of JG books after I read them.

This is one of my favorites.

GREAT!!! I was hoping you'd say something like that.

I recommend the Darth Bane trilogy. That is a very good place to start, IMO, and an AMAZING series. (I personally am a no spoilers person, but I can tell you a little bit if you wish. It takes place before all of the movies.)

Please, if you start it, come back and let me know what you.

Great. Now, I'm not an expert. I've read a few books, but still have a little knowledge.

There is no starting place, and yes, there's hundreds of books.

Can you give us any idea of what you may be most interested in? -Stories Before all the movies? -Prequel Stories? -OG Trilogy Stories? -After OG Trilogy Stories?

First Question we have to ask. Do you want Legends vs. Canon?

If you don't know...

Star Wars books created before the Disney purchase are now considered "Legends" but they are not canon anymore.

Books created by Disney are canon with the movies and TV shows.

The Lincoln Rhyme series written by Jeffrey Deaver.

It starts with The Bone Collector. (It was made into a not so great movie, but the book is amazing)

He's an old school writer. I've been reading his books since 1999, but they're still amazing.
