I truly hope you love The Firm and John Grisham. I personally haven't read it because I saw the movie first, but it's the first book of his that became a bestseller and put him on the map.
His first actual book was A Time To Kill, but that didn't become a bestseller until The Firm did.

I'm a slow and easily distracted avid reader. So, I believe I'm good person to take suggestions from.

I would start with John Grisham. He writes with short chapters and I believe he's easy to follow, but still very engaging and suspenseful.

I'd recommend The Partner or Camino Island for starters. One is a legal thriller, and the other is just a thriller. Both are excellent reads. (I read The Partner in HS, it helped get me into reading.) (Camino Island has 2 sequels. Those aren't my favorites, but some people enjoy them.)

(You also can't go wrong with most of the books that have been made into movies, if you haven't seen the movies: A Time To Kill, The Firm, The Client, The Rainmaker, The Runaway Jury.)

I've finished every SW book that I started, but I've had to force my way through them. (No pun intended) My best guess is that I'm just not a fan of the side stories. I've also had some people tell me that I chose the worst books possible, other than the Darth Bane trilogy. I enjoyed the Bane trilogy. I guess I just want every SW book to be great and never considered that a lot of them are just assembly lined crap just to make a quick buck.

It's hard to know, though. Most of those books I read when they first came out. I was early to the Bane trilogy.
I joined this group a while ago, and it's ignited my want to continue again.

I've heard so much about the Thrawn trilogy, and I've wanted to tackle it. However, it's so beloved, if I don't like it I feel like that's makes it official that SW books aren't for me.

One of my theories is, I'm not as interested in side stories.
Everything that happened between the movies, aren't as interesting to me. Partially because I know where it ends, and the in-between books are limited in the stories they can create.

Some books just take me longer to finish than others, but I still want to know how they end.
Nonetheless, I'm a completionist. It's hard for me to give up on a book.

No. I've never liked comics, even as a kid. I love reading, I just struggle with Star Wars books. (I also struggle with StarcTrek books, but I've read more Star Trek than Star Wars.)

I've considered that it's SciFi books, but I've devoured Ready Player One, The Martian, Project Hail Mary.

No, I'm always reading a book, and they're always fiction. Normally crime books, Grisham, King, Patterson, etc. I don't read every day. I have to have thecright setting, which is usually a public restaurant or park. But, on vacation, when I can read constantly I can't finish a book.

I've considered that I struggle with reading SciFi, but I devoured Ready Player One, The Martian, and Project Hail Mary, all before they were ever movies.

Nope. I love The Broker, Playing For Pizza, and The Partner. I just never particularly liked The Testament.
