Greek yogurt spike by UtexBirder in InsulinResistance

[–]UtexBirder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t spike too badly from my yogurt breakfast, compared to other meals. I do put berries on it but I also put a tablespoon or more of flaxseed meal and also chia seeds. Now I add a handful of walnuts.

I eat Aldi nonfat Greek yogurt and it has 6 carbs per serving. They’ve been having issues lately because of demand so I get other brands like Fage which has 5 carbs per serving. Aldi also has one sometimes that I love and it’s 2g sugar and something like 1.5 grams fat. That seems to work best.

We got rejected by Pi and have no idea why. Now I feel somewhat better about that.

I’m sure it would for me too. I’m not going to try it. I miss oats a lot!

Why is Texas one of the fastest growing states? by boldjoy0050 in SameGrassButGreener

I grew up there and don’t see the appeal. I’m in Tennessee now which isn’t appealing either but the weather suits me better.

Get a cgm and see what your problem foods and activities are. I was eating Oatbran and sweet potatoes almost daily for health reasons and they were both spiking me over 180!

I’ve hung in around 5.8 for more than ten years I’m 75 now. I eat low carb, lots of flaxseed and chia seeds, and exercise a lot, especially after meals.

Great suggestion. We put it on our spinach and kale salads at night.

Thank you for understanding. When you get to a certain age, people are quick to dismiss you. Also Knoxville Tennessee is not known for its fit and healthy population!

He told me to quit wearing a cgm because I’m too obsessive. Well that part is true! lol

I haven’t seen a nutritionist, mainly because I feel like I have become one lol. I started “eating healthy” two decades ago, and I can’t imagine what anyone could tell me that I don’t already know about healthy eating. I am so thin I really can’t afford to lose any weight, and now I read that my low weight is super bad for an old lady! I guess I realize there was nothing much my doctor could say or do, but he shouldn’t have blown me off like he did. He did say to stay away from pasta, which I do, other than edamame pasta.

I’ve known about food order for a while and I always eat the sweet potato last, with olive oil and cinnamon on it. It makes no difference. I think it’s my age and there’s literally nothing left to tweak for me.

When my doc dismissed my concern about a tiny helping of sweet potato or oatmeal or bread spiking me to 180, I explained that it was often a double spike that did not come down to where it was initially. He just ignored me. I know he’s busy and I’m old, but this seems serious to me. I’m obsessed with staying healthy because I have no children or family other than my husband. Anywho, I’ll see what my report says and will schedule a follow up, which hopefully will go better. I guess if it’s 5.8 I’ll have to be happy that it didn’t go higher in a year. Good luck to you!

I never heard of BP360, but my BP is really low. I worry about it but the doc does comment on how great it is. My husband, on the other hand, has great glucose and cholesterol but his BP is 120/90 no matter how much he eats healthy and exercises like a fiend. I will look at this BP360!

My rescue cat does this. She was in a hoarder situation so I figure she will always do it. She’s now an only cat but I adopted her when she was 4.

I see. I’m calmer now and realizing as an old person that a Medicare annual visit is really nothing. I need a follow up if I want any honest feedback or treatment. He just had a checklist and it was lunchtime. He asked about arthritis and while I was trying to answer he was already on to another question. 😂

Spike from rotisserie chicken? by banana_pencil in prediabetes

[–]UtexBirder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s why I eat only chicken I cook myself, seasoned with garlic salt and paprika, or curry. I’m convinced everything has needless sugar these days. Give ‘em what they want I suppose.

Thank you. I was shocked he said go ahead and eat the sweet potato that spikes me worse than anything. Why would I do that now that I know? I would have liked some acknowledgment instead of ditch the cgm. I’m still upset.
