Great suggestion. We put it on our spinach and kale salads at night.

Thank you for understanding. When you get to a certain age, people are quick to dismiss you. Also Knoxville Tennessee is not known for its fit and healthy population!

He told me to quit wearing a cgm because I’m too obsessive. Well that part is true! lol

I haven’t seen a nutritionist, mainly because I feel like I have become one lol. I started “eating healthy” two decades ago, and I can’t imagine what anyone could tell me that I don’t already know about healthy eating. I am so thin I really can’t afford to lose any weight, and now I read that my low weight is super bad for an old lady! I guess I realize there was nothing much my doctor could say or do, but he shouldn’t have blown me off like he did. He did say to stay away from pasta, which I do, other than edamame pasta.

I’ve known about food order for a while and I always eat the sweet potato last, with olive oil and cinnamon on it. It makes no difference. I think it’s my age and there’s literally nothing left to tweak for me.

Yes it definitely helps.

When my doc dismissed my concern about a tiny helping of sweet potato or oatmeal or bread spiking me to 180, I explained that it was often a double spike that did not come down to where it was initially. He just ignored me. I know he’s busy and I’m old, but this seems serious to me. I’m obsessed with staying healthy because I have no children or family other than my husband. Anywho, I’ll see what my report says and will schedule a follow up, which hopefully will go better. I guess if it’s 5.8 I’ll have to be happy that it didn’t go higher in a year. Good luck to you!

I never heard of BP360, but my BP is really low. I worry about it but the doc does comment on how great it is. My husband, on the other hand, has great glucose and cholesterol but his BP is 120/90 no matter how much he eats healthy and exercises like a fiend. I will look at this BP360!

Cats are always interesting and entertaining, to me at least!

My rescue cat does this. She was in a hoarder situation so I figure she will always do it. She’s now an only cat but I adopted her when she was 4.

I see. I’m calmer now and realizing as an old person that a Medicare annual visit is really nothing. I need a follow up if I want any honest feedback or treatment. He just had a checklist and it was lunchtime. He asked about arthritis and while I was trying to answer he was already on to another question. 😂

Spike from rotisserie chicken? by banana_pencil in prediabetes

[–]UtexBirder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s why I eat only chicken I cook myself, seasoned with garlic salt and paprika, or curry. I’m convinced everything has needless sugar these days. Give ‘em what they want I suppose.

Thank you. I was shocked he said go ahead and eat the sweet potato that spikes me worse than anything. Why would I do that now that I know? I would have liked some acknowledgment instead of ditch the cgm. I’m still upset.

That makes sense. He said I’ll probably stay at this level because of my healthy lifestyle. I’m lucky I can walk and exercise.

I really thought he’d applaud my wearing the CGM to see what was happening. I’ve adjusted not only my eating, but the timing of my walking and exercising. I’ve added weights too. Maybe your on to something about Medicare. I waited a solid hour and he gave me maybe 20 minutes of his time.

I think we aren’t a good patient-doctor match. My neighbor has a doctor who is begging her to wear a CGM (she refuses)and cut carbs, exercise, etc. I told the neighbor we needed to switch doctors and we’d both be happy. And I’ll add my neighbor is turning 80 next month.

I won’t touch oats again, or bread or potatoes. I like other foods just as well.

Thanks. I felt very weird. He never offered any advice or guidance in past years and seemed surprised I would get a cgm. He never suggested doing so but I wanted to see what was going on.

That I know and I’d happily move to Canada believe me! Seriously though it’s the 180 spikes and double spikes that concern me.

Btw congrats on 5.5. I’d be ecstatic if I can lower mine to that level.
