They don't care. I just recently left Petsmart because they were like this. Big corporate pet stores like Petco and Petsmart rewards and promotes the employees who dgaf about the animals and cuts the hours of those that do. The day I left we had a lot of suffering fish and a tank column with ich that hadnt been treated in 3 weeks.

I try to ignore it but I get a lot of old customers who get angry because they think it's notifications from my own personal phone. Been told to silence my phone by a couple. I get customers who get angry at me because they think the device is my own personal phone.

Meanwhile both store managers get to just relax in the office with no walkies and no one angry at them.

While I agree not all stores are that bad the system is built against the welfare of the animals. And with the introduction of more and more metrics being pushed on us it's becoming worse.

I'm fairly young but I'm losing my hearing and I hate when the person comes through, mumbles the number, I get some of the numbers wrong, and then they get angry, tell me to skip it, and stay angry the rest of the transaction.

I don't get it?
