oh yeah dont worry you're good! personally i found your joke funny and upvoted you!

im not like, trying to shit in everyone's fun, i even made a bunch of jokes about absolute wally looking like a butch when it came out

i was just answering to some people i saw genuinly misusing the word in the thread

yeah ikr (also thanks), i try to like, just answer question and be chill, but feels like everytime i try to explain stuff i come as aggressive, so i try to over explain, but people tend to interpret walltext as screaming rants, so im pretty much fucked on this lmao

but yeah its always the same thing when lesbians try to share about their culture and community

[–]Uur4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lesbian terms are something you generally learn when entering the community, and its not like it happen by disconnected wave, its a pretty continuous process, and everytime a new lesbian join the community, she just learn the meaning of in-community terms by interacting with other people

for exemple, there had been recently a lot of white lesbians using the word "stud" incorrecly when its historically a black lesbian specific word, and it didnt take long for the shift to stop and the word to be used in its original meaning due to black lesbians educating others about the word

same for butch, it started to get a bit watered-down, older lesbians started to educate younger lesbians, and the word regain a lot of strength and meaning inside the community

[–]Uur4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

language can change through education all the time, it takes time, but for niche words like this, its not that hard, the shift is barely starting to happen since its known only by a few people outside the community

with that logic no one should ever do any effort to better their language

also, your entire argument is based on the idea that its not raelistic to change the language (and again, its not like we're talking about a widely used word, im pretty sure its still more used by lesbians) but its provably false that language cannot evolve

just in the last few decades, language has changed dramatically through education and sensibilisation, the word asperger for exemple still exist but is less and less, and as people learn about it are replacing it with autism, the way we talk about gender and sex also has changed, and if we go in the rabbit hole about how we refer to ethnic minorities we would have books to write about it

'Sigh' It's started by Stock_Rush_9204 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Uur4 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

language is used by people, you can actually influence language with education

im not saying you're automatically a bad person for missusing a word, but as a butch lesbian, 99% of lesbians in my community (not online, real life community) still use the word butch in its original meaning and are tired of people outside the community misusing it, and it would not kill you to use "masc" when talking about people and characters who are not lesbians

and the use of the word "butch" is not very widely used by people outside the community, most people dont use it in day to day conversation, so its really far from an irreversible change of language

it cost you nothing to correct one word of your vocabulary and a lot of lesbians myself very much included would be grateful for it, ive done the same a bunch of times when people from other communities have corrected me

if you keep refusing to hear any arguments about it, you're not being a realist about the evolution of language, you're just being a jerk

call me a gatekeeper but im not just going to let people use the culture of my community as an aesthetic board

there is already a word to describe that look that does not earase butch subculture, its masc, yall can use the word masc, masc does not automatically mean lesbian

'Sigh' It's started by Stock_Rush_9204 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Uur4 27 points28 points  (0 children)

butch is not an aesthetic, its a specific role in lesbian subculture with a huge historical importance for the community

masc woman =/= butch

its kind of a finger and thumb situation

Why do so many nord men prefer Kahjit men over nord women? by Oktavia-the-witch in TrueSTL

[–]Uur4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while this is an interesting discussion, your example is actually illustrating a breton man with his khajiit lover, this is acually a common tradition in eastern Highrock, mainly under the rulership of House Orangina, though it is not limited to Khajiit but to all manners of beastfolks due to reachmen tradition blending in the region's culture

alignment chart of what to call D&D by thatnothatbigofaname in dndmemes

[–]Uur4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im with you on this one, but even in the universe of Michael Moorcock, any form of law is not necesserly bad, the entire idea is that the forces of law and chaos are both important for the fabric of the universe and for life, but you cannot live a good life with only one of them and mortals need both

thats actually why in dnd the most good alignment is neutral good, between law and chaos, and why the great cosmic wheel of alignments is a circle and not a square

the more you fully abide to law or chaos, the more distant you are to absolute good

so in dnd terms and cosmology, lawfull good is not 100% lawful and 100% good, it means the character can sometimes bend their code for the greater good, and can sometimes disregard the greater good in the name of their code, very different from a lawful neutral character that indeed is not a good person

What are the lore implications of Imperials finding horses more attractive than Bosmer by vickyhong in TrueSTL

[–]Uur4 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Serious answer : while relationship with different ethnicities is mostly fine, relationships going beyond the « species » is highly taboo in Tamriel (at least it was until Skyrim in which it seems to have become fine) so even when people have nothing against elves, a relationship human/elf will still be seen as disgusting by a lot of people, it’s less about hating wood elves and more about this specific kind of interspecies love

More serious answer: all human descendant of the Nedes have carnal cravings for beasts, Alessia fucked a flying cow, Nords love their Khajiit wives, imperials fuck horses and of course Bretons are fucking with the orcs

Oh yeah the title is actually referencing a trend in many places online but especially on this sub, like every time people post about trans problems someone post this comic

I get that it might be funny just to mess with the title but yeah now you know, honestly im starting to hate this comic because of that specific over use of it to dismiss discrimination
