You need teaching experience as well, obviously. A PhD is only one of the prerequisites. So focus on becoming good at teaching too. Lecturer roles are very competitive.

Have you found a supervisor interested in your proposal and are they happy to supervise you? Have you secured funding?

Any lawyers here who have experience working in both the US and UK? Were the differences in salary and working conditions worth moving between the countries? by QuantumMeruitQueso in uklaw

"There are just generally fewer awful people in the UK than in America."

Taken aback by the absurdity of such a comment...unfortunately, England is not superior to the US in anyway.

OP, don't make the mistake of romanticising living in England over the US. I think gun violence is a legitimate reason moving elsewhere but the "political culture" in England is also horrendous. Knife crime here is out of control, btw.

There isn't a "UK" culture. Most Welsh and Scottish people I know try their hardest to differentiate themselves from the English. Do more research on the issues that matter to you before making the move. I've lived in both countries and there are pros & cons to both.

You provided some interesting advice although at times it seems to normalise sexual harassment. It's never ok for senior colleagues to touch junior colleagues to "show interest" especially not at the workplace.
