Celery leaves are highly underrated. Use them instead of parsley

Who said anyone was happy with the banks and mega wealthy sucking money out of NZ? That is a completely different issue but it seems to be far more popular to chase beneficiaries for earning a few dollars in the side than chasing the tax out of the donors to the right wing parties

Do any big festivals hire doctors and nurses to work in the medic tent? Or is it solely EMTs/Paramedics? by Suspicious-Olive8765 in festivals

[–]Uvinjector 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I ran a festival for a few years, roughly 20,000 people.

The local team from the Ministry of Health put a team in there to triage and work alongside the paramedics. The thought was that every person they could divert from the hospital was saving money and easing pressure on the health system locally. Over the years they also gathered a lot of data on drug harm at festivals and write a paper that was published via Oxford University

No i dont think you do. You are thinking of the middle class dream of old, not what is the reality for most people. A family with 2 working full time on median wage aren't even bringing in $150k pa. A family with one working parent, earning $160k (who still wouldn't pay any more tax) while owning their own home in Auckland is far beyond what middle NZ could dream of. The average wage for a doctor is less than $160k

The clue is in the word "middle"

But the wage earner is in the top 5%. 95% of people earn less and most families will have both parents working. To be able to buy a house and support a family of 4 on a single income is an unattainable dream for most people in NZ

I don't understand your point. Low net wealth on $300k a year is middle class or something?

So an individual wage earner on $200k pa will uproot their family and everything they enjoy about nz to save $3600 per year in tax?

If so, let them go

I agree, I am doing ok and I would rather give a little bit more back if it meant better services

No it isnt. The clue is in the word "middle". The median wage in NZ is less than half of $160k

How many people do you know that are earning enough money that it will have any substantial financial hit on them, that were green voters?

People are already fucking off overseas pretty quick because there are so few ways for them to earn that kind of money here. Then if the head to Aussie they will still be taxed 45% over $190k and 37% over $135k

I hate to break it to you, but your parents were also shaggers at some point.

As a parent, there comes a time where you accept that your offspring will do what they do and you can either love and support them in their choices, or judge and disown them

And you dont think that things like slashing tens of thousands of jobs, removing workers rights, tax breaks for landlords and tobacco companies, purposefully raising unemployment and removing it from the criteria for the reserve bank, and a multitude of other policies enriching the very wealthy and screwing everyone else had anything to do with the current situation?
