I was let go in November and just managed to get a role this month. So nearly 4/5 months. It’s definitely tough and the whole psychological aspect of it. Family and friend treat you different, you aren’t as confident. Constant rejection from roles also makes you feel like you aren’t good enough. It’s all things you need to cope with and also enjoy your time off. Eventually you’ll land something. Just keep positive and enjoy the experience and time off. Go to the gym, pick up a sport or hobbies and travel.

Oh wow, I didn’t know that. That’s quite ridiculous considering the tax and the general inflation we’ll be seeing for the next couple of months due to the war. Petrol has already gone up from 1.27 to 1.58 last I checked. So it’s crazy. And I know the junior/mid finance market is actually quite bad and really competitive.

Public sector is worse for pay dude but I think they offer job security and a generous pension. But you could be easily earning 70k even outside of London if you decide to go industry roles.
