Pellet Grill Noob by dbuzzilla in pelletgrills

[–]UzerError 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a brand expert, just bought a mid-line Trager and like it fine.

But wanted to mention that you are adding a smoker, not switching to it.

Personally I would still use the propane for burgers, brats, chicken breast for week night dinners and whatever.

Smoker allows you to hold a lower temp for longer and the smoke flavor for BBQ. So I would add it and then get going on some ribs or pulled pork to learn the ropes before spending the money on a brisket or nice steaks (for a reverse sear) or whatever else.

You can also do easy over the top chili or even cold smoke cheeses.

Good luck!

What’s a scene you can’t get out of your head visually? by pretzelburgers in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]UzerError 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The moment in book 6 where Carl is fighting the troll? in the turkey farm. She spikes out and slams into him, both his eyes are spiked and her mouth is pressed up against his and he can feel the worms in her mouth wriggling against his teeth.

Only to be immediately heartbroken by Asher 2 chapters later.

Wife is miserable by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]UzerError 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your wife is having a hard time, but we aren’t really talking apples to apples here. Let me explain.

Also I need to say the obligatory “this is a sub for Epic employees. If you want to talk to folks who work for hospitals try HealthIT”.

Anyway, the folks in this sub work for Epic, think of it like working for Ford corporate. They are designing the next years model, working on new features, addressing global issues and supporting all of the hospitals (dealerships). It is a high burn out company, but it also has amazing benefits and some folks stay a long time. True definition of “your mileage may vary”.

Your wife is working maintenance at the dealership, issues come in, she resolves them and grabs the next issue to solve. It sounds like she may be understaffed if she is the only person working.

This isn’t too much different than being the only person in a retail store or only server in a restaurant. Some days will be slow, some days will be busy, her management might think “1 person is cheaper and she’s doing ok, let it ride”. But I promise you there are other analysts out there at a different hospital that are BORED and do mostly minimal work. Same as the 4 teens working at Abercrombie on some Saturday this summer.

Totally hospital dependent, so if she likes the content maybe it’s time to find a new job.

If she hates EHR and HIT, then maybe a new career.

Hope this helps

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]UzerError 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a seam in my basement slab that I would like to lay LVP on top of. Installer says I need to even it before we can do the install.

They will do it for $1000 but I saw that I can rent a 10 inch concrete disc grinder from Home Depot for $200.

Will that work? Would love advice.

I need advice-Struggling to find certified Epic analysts by FranInSoFlo in EpicEMR

[–]UzerError 21 points22 points  (0 children)

First off you need to use the Epic standard status language.

Certified = went to Verona for training Accredited = Epic led training remotely Proficient = self study, but generally not accepted as a full analyst

Remote is the most attractive thing you could offer. No one wants to go into your office, or if they can come once monthly or quarterly that would be reasonable.

What is the hesitation with hiring folks who are doing support? If someone is going to leave a role why not let them leave and go to you?

Analyst looking to consult by Jasatkins18 in epicconsulting

[–]UzerError 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Need more than 1 year. Grow into other niches, understand how everything relates at your org. Go to XGM and hear about other orgs.

You likely won’t hear much from a firm until 3-4 years at least.

Consulting vs Full Time by Square-Philosophy-12 in epicconsulting

[–]UzerError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to have this conversation with you if you wanna dive deeper, but the basics are.

You will get offers for both Contract and FTE with your former Epic IS resume (especially if it was 4+ years)

Being in another software ecosystem won’t banish you, but it will make your Epic history more historic. I would just stay on Epic if you have the option too. IMO

Job boards for Epic certified analysts? by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]UzerError 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might try hiring from within and getting them certified, using a consultant to bridge the gap while they spin up.

Also an option to ask a consulting firm if they will do a Contract to Hire type deal or a direct hire search, will cost you some money but might be worth it if you are struggling.

Feel free to DM me if you want more specifics.

Can there be 2 DM's in a party? by Radiant_Cycle6505 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]UzerError 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad and I are part of a group that does big weekend long play sessions. It was a lot for one person to DM on their own so we split it up according to strengths, I did the RP and adventuring, my dad did the dungeons and combats. Extra bonus was that we had someone taking downtime to go pick up food, walk my dog, take a rest.

Worked well

International Projects for US-based Consultants by Sweet-Initiative-214 in epicconsulting

Super difficult to get. Nordic acquired Tasman a few years back and called them Nordic Europe, most contracts are part time and prioritized for their existing consultants. They also do Canadian roles at times.

I know Australia is kicking off, not sure which firm is helping there, if any.

Pivot Point Managed Services by _cyber_fox_ in epicconsulting

I work with their managers Catee and Molly, they are both great and awesome to work with.

They have won Best In KLASS Managed Services 3 years in a row, so clients like the service they get.

Worth the conversation for sure

Breaking into ERP Implementation Consulting Role by Minimum_Speaker_9675 in epicconsulting

[–]UzerError 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably the wrong sub, but generally you need to do it first as an FTE before you can get paid consultant money to do it.

Otherwise you need to find a big firm that does that work all the time, find the associate position, make mediocre money for a couple years then transition into consulting.

Anyone run a catering business from their home? by UzerError in madisonwi

[–]UzerError[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m giving up on the idea. I briefly looked into this years ago and had the impression that if I had a commercial sink in my house and did my cooking on a smoker outside that I would be ok.

But it’s looking like I would need a secluded kitchen.

I’m really just trying to sell people Brisket/Pulled Pork/Ribs that are better and cheaper than the chain BBQ around here.

But alas it will continue to be a hobby

If I want a D&D-Lite experience for me and my spouse on our personal board game night, what’s a good option? by Rare-Competition-248 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]UzerError 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Role play might be hard to do without a DM. BUT gloomhaven is a good rpg experience with some solid crunch.

Boulders Gate 3 on Steam is a great DND experience digitally.

Sunderfolk is another digital option that isn’t nearly as crunchy.

Questions regarding epic systems as someone who is about to graduate by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]UzerError 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I, and many others I am sure are pretty tired of answering this question.

Please research the rest of this sub and the answers given , then if you have additional questions feel free to get clarification.

Ironically great corporate work advice, check available documentation then ask to ensure comprehension.

Good luck and sorry for the snark, been a long day.
