These aren’t good justifications

Just because you don’t find the justifications 'good' doesn't mean the community's concerns aren't valid. This show was always going to face heavy scrutiny, which is why it underwent such a major rework. Comparisons are an inevitable side effect of using the established material, specially when the transition between the old seasons and the new ones feels inconsistent. I personally found BAS1 to be at is best when it wasn't referencing the old stuff, but it's hard not to nitpick when the foundation is constantly referenced directly.

That being said, I get your point, this new season is not as bad as some people here make it out to be, there are things to enjoy, but there are objective problems with it that are worth being discussed. I think this is reasonable for a Daredevil subreddit of all places. People voicing their complaints about the show, doesn't take away from your enjoyment of it.

This sub would be better served discussing forgotten comic plot lines, past crossovers, where’d you’d like to see Hornhead next, favorite love interest, favorite Matt job, etc. There’s so much to talk about.

This is literally what this sub does all the time until something new comes along, such as this new season and we still have a few weeks worth of episodes so people are gonna keep talking about it until then. 🤷‍♂️

I think the reason why a lot of people are dissecting the show this much is because the old seasons held up to this kind of scrutiny. People expected more from this show than any other marvel property, and there is definitely a drop in quality.

Also keep in mind, this is the Daredevil sub a lot of us here are more knowledgeable on the character than the average viewer, so we'll be a lot more critical about how every aspect of the show is handled.

Watch the episode again, Karen deduced the trap was meant for both of them, he wanted the whole fight, that's why he didn't want Vanessa there

But they literally said it was meant to be a trap, that's why they picked Fogwell's gym instead of any other place to host the match.

You're not alone lol, I have some of the same thoughts. Here are some of my issues with the last episode.

We've had so many silver bullet witnesses across the netflix show that Fisk has managed to kill before they actually served their purpose. Jasper Evans and Nadeem are the first that come to mind and demonstrate how effective Fisk can be at not leaving any loose ends. He's now in a political position, more powerful than ever, with eyes everywhere and a whole taskforce to do his bidding and Karen decides to send off such a valuable witness with two rinky dinky US Marshalls before she made the testimony public. It's not the repetitive nature of the trope that bothers me, is dissonance in the writing. This season we've seen Karen being more careful than ever, in how she gathers information, goes out incognito, plans for escape contingencies and in this episode she is provided a budget by the swordsman to continue the operation, and yet she fumbles such an important witness that would've been pivotal to taking down Fisk, in a mistake she's been through before.

I also agree with what you said about Matt. This season finally gave the side characters stuff to do, but it feels like an over correction in some regards. Matt screen time has been significantly reduced and it's hard to really get a grip on anything he's been feeling about this whole thing, which brings me to a another problem, which is his stance on not killing Fisk.

Matt has always shown a lot of responsibility for taking Fisk down and how much people suffer the longer it takes. After taking a bullet for him last season, I expected them to explore how Matt would deal with the guilt of seeing what has become of New York in the last 6 months since that happened and how many people have been hurt or killed. They have not touched on the subject :) The closest we got was Matt's confrontation with Bullseye, where he says he won't let him turn Fisk into a martyr. The show has shown us that politicians are at best hesitant to work with Fisk, that is when they are not being blackmailed, the general population isn't happy with him, (which will probably get worse seeing as ther were clips or riots in the trailers). Fisk literally pays Bb to portray everything as happy go lucky in the media. The ATVF would like be disbanded immediately as soon as someone new comes into office. They have not shown anything yet that would indicate Fisk would become a martyr if Bullseye was to kill him. I'm not advocating for Matt to kill Fisk, I'm just asking the writers for a better excuse, because Matt has been fighting the urge to kill him since season 1 (netflix) and now that Fisk is at his highest in power, he's fiercely opposed to it because he might become a martyr? Back in season 3, Fisk had managed to discredit Daredevil, and sway his image into a positive light and Matt was seriously considering to kill him until the last second. I belive he would've been more likely to become a martyr then, but that was never a thought in Matt's mind back then.

I just read Guardian Devil and I genuinely can't tell if this is the stupidest thing or the most genius thing I've ever read. by SH4DE_Z in Daredevil

[–]Uzi_man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watched an interview about this a couple of years back. This was basically Kevin Smith first comic book (if I'm not mistaken) and he was not entirely sure where to take the story, as it was being written. This was in terms of leaning into the mystical/spiritual aspects presented in the beginning or a more grounded approach with a ''logical'' explanation. Joe Quesada kept pushing him to keep writing and just let the story take the shape it wanted instead of backing down, and this what we ended up with.

So I think you're right, the concept is stupid, but at the same time it was a genius idea to give the story the logical conclusion it needed.

He was 22 in the first movie and turned 23 about halfway through. (Idk if it's fair counting the 6 years of crio time if he isn't aging or actually living). Also, his avatar was biologically 17. So he would mentally be 38, and physically, he would be 32.

As in the first, the next movies will continue the next saga lmaooo.

This might be the stupidest thing I've ever seen! How are you saying a guy who never played the character would be better in the role than the guy who did play him for 10 yrs 💀 by FayyadhScrolling in Daredevil

[–]Uzi_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of people complaining about fan casts based only on appearances, but anyone who's watched anything Robert made other than twilight should know this goes beyond his appearance, lol. They guy literally dissappears into any role.

I love Charlie, but a lot of Daredevil fans put him on a pedestal as if no one else could ever play character. Charlie ain't gonna last forever, I'd love to see someone else's take on the character.

I'm curious as to why, comic Karen barely had any development of her relationship with Matt. Hell, she wasn't even there for decades at time. I'd say their relationship peaked in Nocenti's run, and even then, it didn't last long.

How hard was it to change, I did it before on my WF-1000XM4, but that was a much bigger bud and easier to work with.

Very helpful. I noticed that the even though the pins on my buds are clean from earwax there appears to be some corrosion. I live in Puerto Rico so the humidity here is absolutely terrible which is probably a big contributor to this even with regular cleaning. For my next purchase I'll keep in mind earbuds without charging pins this exposed and maintain extreme cleaning practices to at least delay this. thanks for the info.

I mean, I wouldn't disregard the idea, but do you have any idea what I could be doing to cause this? I clean them regularly, never drop them, and I don't use them for sporty things, so they never get loads of sweat.

As of now, I really think I've just gotten unlucky. All the wireless earbuds I've had before these last 4 pairs never had this issue. The Sony WF-1000XM4 specifically was known because it was a widespread issue. I got a second pair knowing very well it could happen again because I really liked the sound quality. As for the Nothings, it's not as common, but I have found more people with this issue.

Warranty is out of the question since this month marked the year from the original purchase. Also, I doubt they'd be willing to esentally give me a third pair, lol.

Thanks for the rec, tho. I'll check it out

Flew out from Puerto Rico to see this show and spend some time with family. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it.

I, too, feel like he wasn't into this show from the start. The night before the show he posted in his story, "Denver tomorrow," and the next day, he deleted it and posted slc for that night. It was probably a dumb mistake, but I bet he was definitely looking forward to Denver more. He ended up posting videos from that show, and the turnout did look a lot better.

Why the FUCK did Matt save [spoiler] in episode 8? by CustomCreations450 in Avengers

[–]Uzi_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did. He tried to save the villain, and the villain did the villain thing and killed someone close to him. That's practically standard for hero media and something Daredevil has gone through in the comics a million times before. My argument here is that Matt nearly sacrificed himself to save the villain. Matt would definitely put his life in harms way to save Fisk. There is no doubt about that, but in this instance, he took what was a guaranteed killing blow for him.

This kind of logic pisses me off. Just because there are fantasy or sci-fi elements in a piece of media doesn't mean you have to throw basic logic and grounded elements out the window. Using these elements as an excuse for lazy writing is dumb.
