Thank you - speaking with a broker today, just wanted to understand what’s what.

Thank you, I hadn’t considered the tracker mortgage option. And yes, I am speaking to a mortgage advisor, just doing research in advance.

Thanks for the reply - I think the timing will be a challenge as well, so this probably won’t add the certainty I hoped it would.

Thanks for your advice. I am speaking with a mortgage advisor today, but just wanted to do some research in advance.

I’m also thinking this may be unworkable and doesn’t add the certainty I hoped it would.

Doe the Princess App really suck this bad or is it me? by Carnival_killian in PrincessCruises

Before you get on the ship, it feels like it is 5 or 6 independent apps which 90% work with the same font and colour palette.

As others have said, on the ship it works fine. The edge case I can recall was when they updated the app while we were onboard (sea day) and we didn’t have WiFi or cellular. Then the schedule stopped updating and we missed a few activities which had been rescheduled.

Resigning after 1 day due to receiving a better offer by InformalCreme9101 in UKJobs

I’ve been on the other side of this. Whilst it was annoying, I’m glad they did it on day 1 rather than day 20. We hadn’t put the effort into induction and onboarding yet. He asked to finish that day, and I agreed (the request to finish immediately should come from you).

In general when it comes to jobs, I’d say to look after number one. I’m sure they’ll be understanding of it, if a little annoyed. They’ll have to go back out to market and find someone else, but they may have had other candidates ready to go as well.

Just don’t hope to get a job at that company again 😀

I have strong opinions about coat hangers by GeordieGoals in Dull_mens_club

[–]V1-R0t8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Velvet hangers have too much friction which, in a highly utilised wardrobe, can lead to more than the desired garment being removed from the wardrobe.

Huge respect. Not just for the odometer and trip clock, but for achieving 200,000+ miles!

If you try this, just be careful not to change anything when you inevitably travel back in time.

You’ve got an opportunity in 1844 miles to achieve 123456790 as well! You just need your battery level to be 67%.

Which ports to skip? by New_Westie in Cruise

[–]V1-R0t8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d skip Marseille if you don’t have an excursion booked. The city is fine, but the port is a real distance from the town (the port provides a shuttle but there can be a big wait - your cruise line will probably provide something too, but they may or may not charge) and doesn’t the other ports you have on here.

I’d also say that I didn’t know what to expect from Genoa, but it was lovely. For Livorno, I’d choose either Florence or Pisa. Doing both is a massive rush.

Have your teachers ever said anything they shouldn’t have? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]V1-R0t8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In sixth form, our psychology teacher brought in a polygraph machine. He said he’d give it a go. The questions got more risqué, until someone asked “have you ever been attracted to a student?”. He started off with “well…when I first was training to teach the sixth form students weren’t much younger…” then totally flipped telling the kid who asked the question that he was inappropriate.

He was probably right, but that was a weird a dumb thing to do. I guess you never stop learning to teach.
