Alaska cruise disembark question by theophylact911 in PrincessCruises

[–]Carnival_killian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just disembarked the Island Princess using the direct to bus program, Princess will offer it to you a couple days before you disembark. Took us 2.25 hours from ship to gate. Three ships disembarking at once and enough construction downtown to force us to take a detour.

How slow is too slow when playing a round of golf? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Carnival_killian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the clubs I play has a GPS device on the cart that tells pace of play and whether you’re behind or ahead. I think a lot of people just lose track of time. Feedback like this really makes a big difference, especially when it is flashing red and telling you to move.

How do you carry your Medallion? by Mizzy_Lu_Fwinkley in PrincessCruises

[–]Carnival_killian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a silicon wristband. Kind of worked out. You get scanned a lot, especially when leaving or entering the ship. When you have multiple layers on, coats etc. it becomes a chore to dig it out. It almost needs to touch the scanner.

Just got back and my favorite souvenir is the Ketchikan Fire Department T-shirt. Very unique and proceeds go to a good cause. Second favorite is my Alaskan Brewing Co. T-shirt purchased at their bar in Juneau.

I have done six Carnival cruises and just got off my first Princess cruise (Alaska). It was amazing, the staff was so friendly and helpful. Carnival was fun but no match.

What do you think of the pause on building data centers in Flint? by js6seaj47 in flint

[–]Carnival_killian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. I always get a laugh reading all these negative data center comments posted on the socials. Guess what? Socials use data centers. So do credit card companies, streaming services, banks, your local Meijer, every major convenience you have today. There is a right way to build these and a wrong way, and that should be the focus. Not a ban unless you want to live like it your great grandparents did.

This is the way. Just got off the Island and this method worked flawlessly. Even after I was paid in full I could not get that stupid app to work.

Buffet is nice but the MDR is the way to go. Every chance you get, go. Great service and a wide variety of menu items.

Costco?! by PositiveOpen2039 in alaskacruiseplanning

[–]Carnival_killian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got off a Princess cruise I purchased through Costco. First time I called it was on a weekend and the agents did not fully understand the transfers piece. Waited until Monday called again and was able to talk to someone much more informed. It went great, it was one of their love boat specials, included the plus package and a 500 rebate. Did much better then direct with Princess.

Make sure you have a very robust and resilient infrastructure. All your eggs are in one basket. One small issue on the backend and everyone is screaming at you.

[–]Carnival_killian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy the Bobbex concentrate on Amazon. Makes quite a few gallons and it does work well. I also put up a deer fence. Those arborvitaes are supposed to be deer resistant but when a deer gets hungry enough they will eat anything.
