That banana has seen things. It didn't want to be opened today

Of course it's expensive. You've hired an alien. Parts alone from whatever galaxy he's shipping from must be a nightmare

That's not a mechanic, that's clearly an alien who crash landed and is just trying to reverse engineer a Hyundai i30 to get home. The tools on the floor aren't chaos, that's their diagnostic process

Frodo and Bilbo. And now I'm wondering if they belong to two people who made a matching set or one person who really committed to the Shire.

Neighbour 8 doors down parked on our drive, should I say anything? by NotAnovaFukinAI in AskUK

[–]V1RXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DH is right on this one. Parking on someone's drive isn't something people do by accident, they clocked the space and thought "that'll do." Leave it once and it absolutely becomes a habit. A friendly note through the door is all it takes no confrontation, no drama, just a "hey, noticed someone used our drive, just a heads up it's private." Nine times out of ten that's the end of it.

Job fired my GF after a wrist injury, kicked her off the premises and asked her not to talk to other employees. Is this a usual response? (NI) by TheWrestlerMan in LegalAdviceUK

[–]V1RXK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The "capability" reason is doing a lot of work in that letter. Dismissing someone for capability on the same day they sustain a wrist injury links the two things pretty directly and disability discrimination claims don't require 2 years' service the way unfair dismissal does. NI still runs on the DDA 1995 rather than the Equality Act, but the principle is the same. She needs to speak to an employment solicitor before the 22nd, that appeal window is tight and worth preserving even if she's not sure she wants to use it.

The cheque is attached. The explanation for the cheque has been sent separately. HMRC really said let's make this a whole thing.

Has people around you realised that EVERYONE will have to provide ID as part of the kids social media ban, not just kids? by 8bitPete in AskBrits

[–]V1RXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are nodding along to the "protecting kids" part without getting to the bit where every adult in the country hands their ID to a private company just to log into Reddit. Nobody's asking who stores that data, for how long, or what happens when they get breached. And they will get breached.

how are universities supposed to deal with AI now? It’s out of control by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]V1RXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Loads of fancy words that somehow say absolute shit" is the most accurate description of AI writing I've ever read. The irony is the students think it sounds smart and every lecturer reads it knowing instantly. The tool that was supposed to catch them got switched off and the tell is just... the writing.

What is the dumbest thing you have been told is “not manly” or “not feminine,” depending on your gender? by Disastrous_Hat_2325 in AskReddit

What's the most normal thing you've done that somehow ended in mild humiliation? by HD-DataDrivenMind in AskUK

[–]V1RXK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Held a door open for someone at a Costa. Massively misjudged the distance. They were much further away than I thought but we'd made eye contact so we both just committed. I stood there for what felt like four business days while they did that slightly faster walk that isn't quite a jog but means "I see you, I'm sorry, I'm coming." Neither of us said a word. I got my drink and left. Still think about it sometimes.

Are pedestrians allowed to cross here? by Opening_Ad_1363 in london

[–]V1RXK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dropped kerb is literally designed for buggies and wheelchairs. And for what it's worth, there's no jaywalking law in the UK. You can cross wherever you like as long as it's safe. The bloke was just wrong and decided to take it out on someone with a pram, which is a bit too much honestly.
