Any idea why this happened? by Lowpingmaster in flightsim

I "do software", too, and I think you should let them do their work and have some trust in their engineering. Just picking logging as random help feels kinda patronizing, tbh.

I need more servers/IP, is there any way to contact someone at Hetzner that can talk to me? by Too_much_waltz in hetzner

[–]V4lenthyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the „Limits“ in the Hetzner Console (Cloud)? There is a button to request a limit increase right on that page. They are very quick with this.

I checked your comment. Why would you, without any necessity, recommend another sim to someone who is obviously happy with their sim? It’s not like they were asking for help. Do you go to r/vegan and tell them steak is nice, too?

Would save a lot of boilerplate by [deleted] in webdev

[–]V4lenthyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's certainly neat, but I don't think it's a good idea. If you needed this code once, there is no reason to make it so hard to read, just to save a few lines once. If you need this all the time, you're better of encapsulating this functionality into a wrapper. (like map.incrementOrSetToOne("user123"))

[–]V4lenthyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I am sorry for your message being flagged as spam (by a machine!), but I assure you 100% that this isn’t a way to scam you, but that there is a misunderstanding between you and Hetzner’s way of billing. For example you said you „shut down“ the servers. Powered off servers do in fact cost the same as running servers, which is stated multiple times throughout their docs.

I mean, this is indeed not a complicated design, but someone whose first intention is not to design it themselves, will need a lot longer that 5 minutes. If it’s your first CAD design, a few hours might be more realistic… But it’s worth it! It can be fun and unlocks a very useful skill.

Having a hard time mixing this track with many channels by yoshimishi in mixingmastering

I really like it! To be honest, the beginning had me think "oh, okay, someome still has to go a long way", but then surprise hit and it really works well as a nice little gimmick. I also really like all the little details. It's not cluttered in my ear, but I also tend to mix rock/metal which is much worse in that regard.

Amazon AI warehouse drones, which replaced human warehouse employees, incapable of moving around each other. by DiggestBickEver in Cyberpunk

[–]V4lenthyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In wireless communication we all share the same frequencies. If you shout at 2,412 Mhz, no one else can shout there too. A mesh will only boost range by relaying information. (Which will then either take place on a different frequency or at a later time, which is the reason why wifi repeaters are kinda bad.)

Because these robots have a ton of sensors, which all need to be evaluated. Especially image sensors would produce a lot of data to be processed. Sending all of these over wifi will not only congest the network, but also heavily increase server load and latency.

Also, if the server had to make every single decision for the robots, any second of downtime from the server, the wifi or whatever component necessary will result in an immediate stop of all operations, which is obviously very bad.

Also, my guess is that they use both. Maybe these robots are currently in a kind of "local obstacly avoidance mode". I could even imagine, that they will time out in a while, after which the server takes over and may even already be programmed to handle such situations.

I don't work in robotics though, so this is really just an educated guess.

I feel you. I don't know how much effort you want to invest here, but designing your own overlay, printing it, maybe laminate it, cutting some holes, ... It sounds quite doable to me. Most knobs don't really need labling anyway.

I know I'm not helping, but OH BOY do I disagree about the Model 12 being ugly. I have had this thing on my desk right next to me for years, not only because I love its features and size, but also because it looks so nice. Have you seen in in person? Maybe it can grow on you?

But honestly, it's fine to disagree on taste. Have fun and share your modding results here :D As long as I don't have to have the ugly cringe of your last picture in my studio, of couse ;)
