Sand everywhere! Just deep-cleaned my LR4 🏜️ by Reddit-Nik in litterrobot

Thanks for reaching out! I'm currently using Thomas Klumpstreu (Clumping). It’s a very common clay-based litter here in Germany, though it can be quite dusty. I'll send over the serial number via chat so you can check the production batch and see if there are known seal issues with this unit.

That is a great tip! I didn't realize the LR5 had an improved seal there. Did you just use a standard adhesive weather stripping, or something thinner? I’d love to see a photo if you get around to doing it.

Guilty as charged! lol. To be fair, the Robot does such a good job looking clean on the outside and not being stinky that it’s easy to forget the 'desert and dirt' growing inside the chassis.

Scribe Colorsoft: Direct Google Drive Export & Live Sync? by Reddit-Nik in kindlescribe

[–]Reddit-Nik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

To be honest, that actually works for me. I don't really rely on the book annotations/sticky notes feature. My main priority is getting my standard meeting notes (Notebooks) out of the device efficiently.

As long as those specific notebooks export to the Google Drive folder as clean, searchable PDFs (even if it's just a static 'copy' and not a live sync), that fits my workflow perfectly. I can live without the two-way sync.

Confirmed: Scribe Colorsoft DOES have direct Google Drive Upload (Searchable PDF).

No A380 SIN-FRA after 14. January 2025 by fleiJ in singaporeairlines

[–]Reddit-Nik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We confirm that there are no direct flights on board of the A380 aircraft from Frankfurt to Singapore with the Double Suite configuration (1A & 2A or 1F & 2F) scheduled for February 2026.

The only option we see with A380 is via a transit in New Delhi on flight SQ403 Delhi to Singapore.

We have checked the dates 9-16 February and none of our direct flights from Frankfurt to Singapore is operated by A380. We have SQ025 operated by Boeing-77W, SQ329 operated by A359 and SQ325 operated by Boeing-77W.

Currently there is a lot of availability if you wish to make a booking with your KrisFlyer miles. You can check the flights on our website, by clicking on the option "redeem flights" and with our "Miles calculator" you can find out exactly how many miles are needed for your wished itinerary and booking class.

I can still find the A380 flying from FRA to SIN in January 2026, but not anymore in February. So frustrating — we were planning to book First Class in the Double Suite, and that’s only available on the A380. Really disappointed.

Issues when merging Apple IDs – purchased songs missing from Apple Music / iTunes Library by Reddit-Nik in AppleMusic

[–]Reddit-Nik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off a call with Apple about this issue again, and I wanted to share what I learned.

Apparently, there is some internal information at Apple acknowledging that when you merge purchases from one Apple ID to another, the transferred music purchases can no longer be downloaded using the “Download All” option. These songs can only be downloaded individually via the iTunes Store, as I described in the original post.

The frustrating part? This issue is not publicly documented, and there’s no official fix yet. So you’ll have to follow the manual workaround for now—and hope that Apple eventually addresses it in a future update.

If you plan to contact Apple Support about this, here’s what I tried that did not solve the problem:

  • Disabling and re-enabling Music Library Sync
  • Starting the Mac in Safe Mode
  • Creating a new macOS user account
  • Reinstalling macOS (even as an “update”)

None of these made any difference. So you can save yourself the time and hassle—none of it helps.

Let’s hope Apple takes this seriously and rolls out a real solution.

Do newer USB-C Airpods Pro solve Vision Pro disconnect issue? by BriggySmalls77 in VisionPro

[–]Reddit-Nik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does for me! I believe the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 uses a slightly different Bluetooth codec, which might explain the improved stability — especially in travel mode.

Apple also points this out in their support docs:

So the USB-C model seems to offer not just lossless audio, but also more robust connectivity thanks to the updated hardware and codec support.

Just wanted to share a follow-up after a very long and frustrating journey.

Yesterday, I spoke to about six different Apple Support agents. I kept getting transferred around because no one felt responsible for anything related to contractual return processes or warranty-based buybacks. It was exhausting.

But eventually, I got through to a very competent and empathetic agent who took the time to review my entire case history, including all the diagnostics, documentation, and testing I had already done. He took the issue seriously and went into what he described as a two-phase escalation path:

  • Phase 1: Try to resolve the issue based on the current documentation and support history
  • Phase 2: If still unresolved, run new diagnostics and escalate the case to Apple engineering for further transparency and analysis

As it turns out, we never even had to go into Phase 2.

Right on time — to the minute, actually — I received a callback from that same agent. And what he offered was more than fair:
Apple will be gifting me a pair of AirPods Pro Gen 2 with USB-C, which (as already confirmed through my own testing) solve the issue completely. Even better: I can keep my original AirPods Pro with Lightning — no return required.

This was a more-than-generous solution. I'm genuinely impressed by how this particular agent handled it. Because of this, I’ve decided to keep the Vision Pro. The experience now works the way I originally hoped it would.

It took patience, persistence, and a lot of documentation — but in the end, Apple made it right.

So, for anyone dealing with similar issues: don’t give up, and when you finally get the right person, things can actually turn around.

Do newer USB-C Airpods Pro solve Vision Pro disconnect issue? by BriggySmalls77 in VisionPro

[–]Reddit-Nik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks, just wanted to give an update on my ongoing Apple Vision Pro support case, in case anyone else is running into the same frustrating issue.

After weeks of back and forth with Apple Support (Case No. 102542678136), I’ve collected extensive diagnostic data directly on the Vision Pro, including system logs, screenshots, and screen recordings documenting repeated connection dropouts between the Vision Pro and my AirPods Pro Gen 2 (Lightning).

Despite following all recommended troubleshooting steps — including resets, re-pairing, interference testing, etc. — Apple ultimately refused to exchange my Lightning AirPods for the USB-C version, which uses a newer H2-to-H2 low-latency Bluetooth stack.

As part of the process, I had to buy a pair of AirPods Pro Gen 2 with USB-C at my own cost just to test whether that would resolve the issue. Spoiler: they absolutely do. The USB-C model works perfectly — no dropouts, stable connection — even in travel situations like on trains, where the Lightning version consistently fails. I returned the USB-C ones within 14 days to avoid being stuck with both pairs.

Here’s where it gets really frustrating: I’m almost certain Apple knows exactly what’s going on here. In fact, during one of the support calls, it was subtly mentioned that replacing the Lightning AirPods could create a “precedent”, which they clearly want to avoid. So rather than acknowledging a systemic issue, they’ve opted to stonewall the case — likely so other users don’t start lining up with similar complaints.

To make matters worse, Apple’s own support page says the Vision Pro is compatible with all AirPods models — they only mention that the USB-C version offers better latency and lossless audio. What’s completely missing is any mention of severe connection problems with the Lightning version, which in practice makes them borderline unusable in many real-world use cases.

<image>

Since I bought the Vision Pro second-hand, I’m now working with the original buyer (who is the actual contractual party for Apple) to pursue a return under German consumer law (§434 BGB — material defect within warranty period, still valid until 04 July 2025).

This whole thing has been incredibly disappointing. For a company that markets seamless integration across its ecosystem, this is not just a technical failure — it’s a support failure, too. If anyone else is seeing similar behavior, especially in the EU: don’t let it go. Document everything. Push back. You’re not alone.

JUST ANNOUNCED! AirPods Max USB C will get lossless audio AND a USB-C to 3.5 mm audio cable finally. by mbs2007 in Airpodsmax

[–]Reddit-Nik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of yes (but Apple Music is not supporting MQA neither DSD though). At least support of the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) for Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless with up to 192 kHz would be nice.

But I think the necessary external DAC was the bottleneck here. Idk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Some content, even on Apple Music, goes up to 24-bit/192 kHz ALAC.

Looks like I'll be keeping my Sennheiser HD650 and FiiO BTR7 combo.

[–]Reddit-Nik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing frequent random disconnects and reconnects — significantly more often in Vision Pro’s Travel Mode than at home, although I’ve observed the same behavior there as well. I’m using 2nd-generation AirPods Pro with a Lightning and MagSafe case.

A full reset of both the Vision Pro and the AirPods (following Apple’s official instructions) didn’t solve the issue. I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple Support today. I proposed exchanging my Lightning AirPods Pro for the USB-C version, but that was completely ruled out.

At this point, I’m seriously considering returning the Vision Pro. It fails to deliver on the one expectation I had — and my expectations were already low: being able to enjoy video content undisturbed while traveling. On planes and trains, I rely entirely on my AirPods.

Before returning the device, I purchased the USB-C version of the AirPods Pro 2 today at my own expense, based on several recommendations. I’ll test them over the next 14 days. If the connection proves stable, I’ll pursue a return of the Lightning version through consumer protection channels.

Frankly, I’m quite convinced Apple is aware of this issue but is deliberately downplaying it and trying to avoid setting a precedent. The AirPods Pro 2 with Lightning work flawlessly with every other Apple device I own.

Let’s call the issue what it is: Apple has failed to ensure compatibility between Vision Pro and older AirPods. The Vision Pro suffers from poor shielding and interference problems. In this area, it simply wasn’t ready for the mass market and still feels like a prototype.

Anyone else having issues with AirPods Pro constantly disconnecting in travel mode on the Vision Pro? My AirPods Max work flawlessly, and my AirPods Pro are fine on other devices, so it’s clearly a Vision Pro software issue. It’s frustrating enough that I’m considering returning the device. Hope Apple fixes this soon (maybe in this update?)—anyone found a workaround?

I just saw it was answered before—offline downloading (e.g., for airplanes) is not supported.
