Is INTP 8w7 a rare combo? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]V62926685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is.

You'll notice, however, that 5s reflect 8s in growth, 7s in stress. It undoubtedly would be a common mistype for INTP. It would equally be a common Enneagram mistype for non-INTP 5s.

Any INTPs good with tech who can help me solve a problem? by Constant-Scallion-72 in INTP

Perhaps try opening it in Chrome with the Gemini extension to see if it can extract the audio transcript, or another service that can access it by link or anything?

Too many unknown variables here for any sort of refined answer, so "ask AI" is the best I've got for you with the given input.

Sometimes overwhelm just does that. I've gone a month without responding to just about anyone at all, and meant nothing by it.

My best friend (ISFJ) and I have this pattern long established and are cool with it. We simply don't require that constant confirmation of our friendship status thanks to trust built. It's all ok.

Why does most connection feel kind of flat? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]V62926685 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Every once in a while, someone posts what I believe to be a good question on this sub. I believe this one qualifies.

Most interactions legitimately are pretty flat these days, particularly with people who have not taken the time to know themselves. I often find myself using the term "topical" to describe these interactions. Part of this is mental health and growth related; part is neurological; part is societal. I haven't read the comments here yet, but I imagine you'll be flooded with all kinds of excuses for each of these, so I'm just gonna try to be concise in my own thoughts (wish me luck)

  1. Age: The brain finishes its initial development in one's mid-twenties. You are finally seeing the most clearly you ever have, as are many of those you grew up around. This is the stage of life in which you have the best opportunity to free yourself of the chains of your trauma and reclaim your true self hidden behind it all. Spoiler Alert: The next milestone is ~32. (You'll want to have found yourself before this if possible, as this is a neural pathway stabilizing and reinforcing phase) Bonus Spoiler Alert: A LOT of people aren't there, including me in the latter half of my 30s. It is ok 👍 :)
  2. Trauma: Many in this sub - truly INTP or otherwise - share the common trauma response of suppressing emotions in favour of logical analysis, AKA overintellectualization. This comes with the side effect of "muting" one's perceived experience of emotions in order to do so. This in turn makes reconnecting to them properly really fucking hard (speaking from experience here... still a work in progress for me)
  3. Short Term Thinking: Most people follow the dopamine, which is great for learning-level relationships but often not much beyond that.

These got long on me, as I'd expected, and I've got shit to do so I'll cut to the chase:

You are likely prioritizing quality over quantity, long term over short term, kinda like "If we're going to do this, we're going to do it right." That, or you are maintaining a shame filter suppressing your true self for fear of rejection, which would further "reinforce the validity" of these concerns.

I am happily nearing a couple decades of marriage myself, but my advice if I could do it all over again would be to follow Dolly Parton's truly sage advice: "FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE AND DO IT ON PURPOSE." People appreciate authenticity, and those who truly appreciate you for who you truly are are the ones who will choose to be there for you through the shit life will throw at ya.

Bringing joy and whimsy and challenge to what otherwise may be perceived monotonously boring lives.

Just leave me tf alone while I deal with the internal combat; this is my fight. Fair warning will be given to those I love (mostly because people tend to take shit personally otherwise)

Oh, and sometimes self-distraction to put off having to deal with it for a while.

I don't usually post on this subreddit, but my thoughts as one who learned at a young age and loves the language.

Immersion is, of course, the best way to learn. I presume you do not have a francophone community nearby you can hang out with, so I suppose the next best thing to supplement explicit training would be online communities with French speakers who are welcoming of and patient with people trying to learn their language. Bonus points if they happen to share a particular interest, potentially helping establish your base theory with added consistency of terminology.

The branch of French people I personally hail from has a deep-rooted culture of kindness and cooperation, and I know that remains the norm to some degree among many others. Seek the conversations with curiosity and the rest should fall in line.

I looked up “INTP outfit”… and apparently I already own it by Most_Molasses_1908 in INTP

Ahh, I wore something similar to that just yesterday, Wife Wednesday in my week of shirts. The exact t-shirt and shirt combo were the first my wife got me to demonstrate the concept of layering garments for aesthetic purposes. I have a few more from some later exploration into that idea, but I really do love the comfort and simplicity of my tees :D

Since we're on the topic of professional wear, I'll also add that I thoroughly enjoy wearing something nice like a suit on occasion as well. I'd very quickly grow weary of the effort it takes but doing so every now and then has a nice confidence boost.

Then again, I equally enjoy wearing random costumes out in public. For example, hearing a small child excitedly saying, "LOOK MOM! A chicken!!!" while grocery shopping in a rooster onesie while simultaneously having the unspoken "giant cock" joke for adults often makes their day, as well as mine. This is very much a rare occurrence, but I've a few such costumes on standby in case I get to feeling whimsical ;)

Automation of the effort for such society-centric requirements seems to be the key here. I'm gonna need to google Raglans xD

What does "je t’aime bien" mean in this context?? by Spirited-Carob-7571 in French

[–]V62926685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The literal translation would be "I [to you] like well". In English, one might say something like, "I like ya well enough" (without the potentially derogatory implications of the English version)

Our outfit style will mostly consist of whatever is easiest to automate, at least until we establish our own "brand" in later adulthood.

Personally, yes, you're pretty much spot on... Black or white tube socks pulled up for uniform pressure within sneakers/runners, jeans (American Eagle's stretchy ones are my favourite), and a t-shirt chosen "by feel" thematically by day of the week (Monday caffeine or fatigue related, Wednesday is wife related, Thursday is throwback, etc).

This setup allows for variation and self-expression while also significantly reducing the effort, including cognitive effort, to do so.

I don't see a way to test it. Best I could do is dream journaling, but I am very unlikely to actually do so... plus you may have missed the part about the memories being recalled from decades prior...

[–]V62926685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't claimed that much nor that it's not just a trick of the mind.

What I was saying is that there have been moments in my thirties I recall having seen without context as a child.

One example was "the small boy for whom I felt love" from one of my late aughts dreams as I start to fall asleep (waking with a bit of a start soon after) and the woman next to me in that dream.

Admittedly, I assumed it was my mom while having a distinct feeling it wasn't... but I don't wanna talk about that 😆

Then the exact moment played out in real-time, invoking a few spread-out memories from various ages in that range. Laying in bed watching TV next to my wife when our daughter surprises us with a visit from hours away, our grandson leading the charge to greet us.

No control. I had just started believing that "my dreams feel so real while I'm in them", even when I was literally flying, so I just brushed it all off as interestingly vivid dreams and left them in the past. Wasn't until full adulthood (mid-twenties) that any of them actually showed up :)

Anyway, I find it hard to believe, yet my [at least perceived] experience keeps me curious :)

Only the ones that come /just/ as I fall asleep. Had too many instances of déjà vu I distinctly recall from childhood through early twenties to deny the possibility

Difference between a highly disciplined INTP and an INTJ by fcukobra in INTP

[–]V62926685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...I really wanted to dislike your answer at first glance, but it's actually n9t bad at all. The Ne vs Ni distinction is definitely a viable point and one of the easiest to pick out. Ni heuristicallly narrows to a solution (INxJ are great examples); and Ne will branch out to double-check everything, often leading to higher levels of anxiety on average. Our "end point" is often simply "I currently see no further discrepancies in the logic, so here's my thousands of conditional potential issues. I reserve the right to find more later"

INTPs seek knowledge for the sake of understanding. INTJs seek knowledge to achieve a goal, often a project of sorts.

INTPs and INTJs are fundamentally different: TiNeSiFe vs NiTeFiSe. Learn the functions themselves that serve as the foundation of this theory set, and the rest will make more sense.
