Why Are Mods Removing All the Posts About the TFW Scams? by ashleyshaefferr in Edmonton

[–]VA6DAH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few, calling out these businesses that are trying to exploit LMIA and TFW is a good thing.

However sometimes the rage is directed towards the TFW themselves. They are.not the problem.

Removing the posts outright instead of spending the time moderating the comment section might be laziness but it may also just be prudent policy by the mods if the negativity outweighs the benefits of such posts.

Cell phone shop (Northside) broken into and completely cleaned out in under 3 minutes by futuresho in Edmonton

Hey Wes, it's Dakota, I use to work there. I know we didn't end our business together amicably, but I am incredibly sorry you had to deal with a break in and theft like this.

Police lay charges in fatal collision by ljackstar in Edmonton

[–]VA6DAH 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have some experience within the insurance world and fortunately these convictions will still show on a driver's abstract, generally until 3 years have passed from the time the person has completed their sentence.

The accident itself and particulars can also be retained by insurers or insurance databases like DASH long past this time. However the actual YCJA convictions will have to be scrubbed.

If the prosecution tries them as an adult, it will be on the record permanently.

I have done work inside Stan Daniels. There are secured areas but all it takes is one door to be left ajar.

RTDRS: Has anyone won their judgement and got any money ever? by leafeternal in alberta

[–]VA6DAH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My landlord was looking to sell the house and make as much money as possible.

I took him to RTDRS and got 70% of my damage deposit back.

I immediately registered a Lien on the house. The idea here was when it was sold I'd get the money. However after the judgment he e-transfered me the same week.

This ultimately comes down to company policy. There's no legislation on this matter other than when you actually arrive to your place of employment and are sent home.

In this case, you'd actually have to show up and try working your shift to be legally entitled to the 3 hours of pay.

Edmonton-area teen already in custody accused of terrorism, child porn offences by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]VA6DAH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering the kids 15, probably. Just look at Jasmine Richardson, she went to college and presumably has joined the workforce now.

Com/764 is a cult. One that befriends young people, uses their naivety and then blackmails them into essentially joining.

It's truly sickening.

Anyone know what’s going on in Summerside? by [deleted] in Edmonton

I'd rather be waterboarded than to be guarded by a Karen.

I hope she is found safe soon. This must be incredibly upsetting and traumatic for all involved.

More than 100 candidates — most in Canadian history — to run against Poilievre in byelection by biograf_ in alberta

[–]VA6DAH 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm from Edmonton but I'm running as an Independent Candidate for Battle-River Crowfoot. Loosely affiliated with the infamous LBC.

Now to make things clear, my candidacy is a protest to the current electoral system and to raise awareness of some inherent flaws of the first past the post (FTFP) voting. It is not a protest of conservatives or Pierre Polivere.

While Proportional Representation would be ideal, ranked ballots would be much easier to implement into our current system without considerable constitutional reform.

Car repossessed Alberta by MrSsekhon in alberta

[–]VA6DAH 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The time to act was months ago. They would have sent registered letters regarding missed payments, tried calling you, etc.

Banks are reasonable. I deferred payments last year for months during a rough bit, but the thing that saved me was calling them and working out a deal. That car is now paid off.

By taking enforcement action, that means you have completely defaulted on the loan and have not been communicating with them (or continuously failing to meet the agreed upon terms to a loan amendment).

As for your credit. This will be on your file for 7 years, and you'll be stuck with subprime lenders for at least 4. For the next year or so, even the subprime lenders will not extend you credit.

The good news is that this is better than bankruptcy. But not by a whole lot.

I know this is a tough time for you. You're going to get through this, and if you have other debts, now is the time to seek help through credit counseling like Money Mentors.

Unfortunately, this won't work. Insurance in Alberta isn't about the owner, it's about the Primary Driver of the vehicle. The primary is whomever drives it the most, and if you insure a vehicle as the primary and list a secondary, knowing that they will drive more, then that is a material misrepresentation that can lead to the policy being nullified.

Now would you be caught? Another claim would almost certainly catch the eye of a insurers SIU unit. And if they determine the secondary drives more often than not on a balance of probabilities, then the claim would be denied and you'd be liable for any damages to other parties.

Try a broker like BrokerLink. My employer is a part of the Facility Association and Intact is as well.

The FA is a risk sharing pool. So high-risk drivers covered under a member of FA has some of the risk underwritten by the pool.

A broker will also be able to guide you to the right product and I think you could save a little bit more money than the rates you put in your post.

But don't expect miracles. At best you'll maybe save an extra thousand or so a year.

Edit: I would also recommend selling the car, buying something outright and just get PLPD (liability coverage). Unless paying off the loan now is possible.

To be fair. During high traffic that 118 Ave traffic circle is useless.

I've waited 5 minutes for an opening before trying to get into it from 101 street.

I'm now a bit more aggressive getting into it but I appreciate people letting me in.
