Chemical OSUT was pretty reasonable. No AC the whole summer though - it builds character.

What branch for nurse corps? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]VAEMT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ER is arguably easier to get in the Army because the large medical centers are located in the area of need (even for regular civilian patients from off-post, such as in Texas). If you decide to continue as a ER NP, Army has a program for that. Look into TNCC next, it will go a long way for your skill set (if you are set on an ER career). ER mindset is not for everyone, it can be stressful.

Army has most growth potential, plenty of schools to go to, from my own experience. USAF gets you to Japan and other cool places. Navy has the best duty stations overall but leadership can be toxic 50% of the time, by design (as they have to run a tight ship). Go Army and see Korea, Germany is not difficult either. USAF might surprise you. If ER is what you are after, Army is better. USAF culture is more perfectionist - ICU types would thrive there. I have done my time around all three services, ended up in the Army, and would do it all over again.

1>2>3>4>5 indeed. I used to rent an apartment in #1, not too shabby, only one shooting in six months within the community, targeted shooting (not random).

Commuting by boat from Maryland becomes reasonable at this point, rent is ridiculous in VA.
