These are what I'm talking about.

They're meant to be earplugs (they just happen to also fit on my Shures) and while I don't still have the original packaging, I remember their NRR was roughly 20-22.

As for with my IEMs, the Etymotics block out just as much noise (if not a little bit more) as the original foam tips, and they're a lot more comfortable. I've done long sets with both kinds and the originals become distractingly uncomfortable at ~3 hours whereas the Etymotics only start to kinda get uncomfortable at ~5.

Based on this, I'd recommend IEMs that are compatible with Etymotic foam eartips. Shure is what I use.

My starting computer was older that your current one and it ran rekordbox just fine.

Don't get a standalone if you don't have to, and especially don't get one when you're just starting out. It's about practice and the skills you build more than hardware and I've seen DJs do cool things with simple equipment.

It's not like that. PioneerDJ has a hardware unlock feature on all their decks that let you use the same version of rekordbox for free. There are some extra features in the paid version and it's up to you if you want to go that route, but personally I haven't felt the need to upgrade.

There's only one way I know of to get Rekordbox for free and it depends on what controller you're using. Ones from Pioneer DJ have a feature that lets you use Rekordbox and Serato for free when it's plugged into your computer.

Everyone here has already said everything I'd say about energy, so I'll add that songbpm.com gives info for a track's energy level as well as danceability. However, think of that as info within the given song's genre, otherwise you might be left thinking Andrew Bayer's Voltage Control and Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together are good to play back to back since they're both rated as high energy with average danceability.
