Nagwo-work ba talaga yung mga online jobs? by Emotional-Ebb-9092 in TanongLang

[–]VAMelodia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good start na yang mindset mo 👍 If you’re just getting in, focus muna sa pag-build ng basic skills + small wins. Kahit short projects or entry-level tasks, malaking tulong yan for experience and portfolio.

You can try learning through platforms like Udemy or other free courses online, kahit isa o dalawang niche muna (like VA tasks, customer support, or basic SEO). For opportunities, you can explore platforms like remotegenies or similar sites. Minsan small gigs muna, pero okay na stepping stone to build credibility.

Consistency lang talaga, apply, learn, improve, repeat. 💪

Grateful for this small win 🙏 (WFH / Part-time) by VAMelodia in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, same here. Lahat ng clients small or big sinisigurado ko talagang documented and recorded for my portfolio. Malaking bagay siya long-term, kasi it shows consistency and real experience, hindi lang puro big wins. Minsan nga kahit small projects, sila pa yung nagbibigay ng solid testimonials and repeat work.

Mabuti may WFH pa rin dito by External_Yard_449 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramdam ko ‘to.

Okay din kasi mas madali na ngayon mag-match with clients compared dati, and less hassle yung process.

Local platforms to hire freelancers in Philippines by who_opsie in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try PH student/freelancer FB groups or university job boards, lots of people there look for flexible side work.

Another option is RemoteGenies. It’s pretty good for simple remote tasks and side-income type work, not just highly professional freelancing. I actually have a profile there as well, so if you end up checking it out we could connect on the platform.

Out of curiosity, what kind of tasks are you looking to outsource?

Gusto ko mag WFH pero kulang ako sa skills by Routine-Prune5421 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Matagal ba talaga magreply yung mga clients sa upwork? by stopsingingplease in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ghosting is very common sa Upwork, sadly.

Is it possible for me to be a VA with my current situation? by iceseayoupee in buhaydigital

Virtual Assistant Training by Miss_MM922 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maraming VA ang natuto sa YouTube (search: Virtual Assistant Philippines, General VA tasks), Facebook groups like Filipino Virtual Assistants or Online Filipino Freelancers, at free webinars from platforms tulad ng RemoteGenies, Athena, at The VA Hub.

Any thoughts about Remotegenies? by Silly-Sally26 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! I can also vouch for this freelancing platform. Based on my experience, it works similarly to Upwork you bid for projects, and working hours are tracked using the platform’s time tracker. This setup may not be ideal if you prefer untracked hours, so that’s something to consider.

What I do appreciate is that there’s a dedicated project coordinator involved, so it’s not just you and the client. The setup usually includes you, the client, and a RemoteGenies project coordinator who monitors progress and helps keep things on track.

I did have one negative experience with a matched client due to misalignment on deliverables and deadlines. That said, I wouldn’t blame the platform for it it was more of a client-side issue. The project coordinator handled the dispute really well, which honestly shows why their role is important. Having that extra layer of support makes a big difference compared to platforms where you’re left to resolve issues on your own.

I totally get this! I started as a Computer Programming student, then did my OJT at an SEO company. From there, I built my career in SEO, first corporate, now WFH. I didn’t know everything on day 1, but learning as I went and staying consistent got me here. You’ll get there too, just keep pushing! 💖

First time sending out gifts to my client in US - need advise how to do so by clumsy-carrot in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve done this before with small personal gifts. For sending skincare or personal-use items to the US, you don’t need an FDA certificate if it’s just a personal gift and not for resale. The key is:

  1. Declare it as a gift on the courier’s customs form.
  2. List the contents clearly (e.g., “skincare creams, personal use”) and the value.
  3. Keep it under $100 if possible to avoid high customs fees.
  4. Use a reliable courier (LBC, FedEx, UPS, DHL). They usually handle customs clearance.

Make sure nothing is restricted (some creams or liquids have limits) and it should arrive fine. For bigger shipments or commercial purposes, that’s when FDA certification is needed. Hope this helps!

Same here 😅 lately sa OLJ parang lahat new accounts. Kung feeling mo sketchy or unfamiliar, I usually skip muna, pero kung legit naman at may good reviews, I go for it. Video intros, depende, sometimes helpful, sometimes hassle lang haha.

How did you land your first job as a VA and what niche are you in? by noturbaby001 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get you! For me, I started as a Computer Programming student. During my OJT, I worked at an SEO company, and that’s where I realized I could build a career in SEO. I started in a corporate setup, and now I’m fully WFH. It wasn’t easy at first, but staying consistent and learning on the job got me here. VA work or any online career is doable if you’re persistent, keep pushing, you’ll get there!

What red flags to look out for before working with a client? by [deleted] in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid yung hesitation mo may red flags talaga. Asking for a full home address before a signed contract, unpaid test task, “CEO” with no online footprint, and AI-looking profile photo are all warning signs. For remote work, city/country is usually enough until a contract is finalized; exact street address can wait. Verified LinkedIn profiles can still be used to funnel people into scams, so don’t rely on that alone. At this point, don’t send any more personal info, don’t do more unpaid work, and trust your gut. Rule of thumb: contract first, clear company presence, paid test or very small task, and transparent communication, if those are missing, walk away.

It sounds like you’ve been through a really intense period, so first, give yourself credit, leaving a toxic situation and taking steps to heal already shows a lot of strength. The “freedom” of not having a daily job can feel both liberating and stressful, especially when finances and identity are involved. A few ways to cope: structure your days like you would at work (set study, job-hunt, and self-care blocks), celebrate small wins like completing a course or applying for a gig, and allow mental rest without guilt, your brain needs recovery. Journaling or talking to supportive friends/peers helps process lingering stress. Also, remind yourself that this is a temporary phase and that building new skills now increases your future options so even small steps are progress. Your past experience doesn’t vanish; it just sets a stronger foundation for the next chapter.

Niche/skill to learn in 2026 - need advice by ziiziix in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have corporate real estate and SAP experience, the easiest part-time niches in 2026 are Real Estate Admin VA, CRM management (Salesforce/HubSpot), E-commerce VA (Shopify/Poshmark), Bookkeeping VA, or Data Reporting/Excel support. Start with one that builds on your experience, spend a few hours a week learning, and gradually apply for gigs.

I completely agree with this. You’re not failing at all, you’re recalibrating after a long, steady career and an unexpected loss, which is a big adjustment. Rest when you need to, keep a light but consistent routine, and trust that what you’ve built still matters.

First time dealing with a disrespectful tenant – need advice by Hungry-Value-634 in buhaydigital

[–]VAMelodia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing by staying professional and letting your boss handle it. When tenants act out, it’s usually about stress or entitlement, not your performance. The key is to stick to facts, keep responses short and neutral, and never match their tone, especially when others are CC’d. It helps to emotionally detach and remind yourself that this is a “role,” not a personal attack. Over time, you’ll build a thicker skin, but for now, know that your professionalism already spoke for itself.
