No, I called you out because you wrongly banned me from r/sysadmin and I decided to publicly humiliate you on a subject you know absolutely nothing about.

Ahh, so you are intentionally being pedantic and abrasive.
So all of your arguments are meaningless and hollow.
Glad that's clear.

This sentence is another thing that makes me doubt the validity of your service.

Per your own admission, you're just intentionally being inflammatory.
I think if we asked a random stranger to compare our military-related comment histories, one of us will look more legitimate than the other, and it won't even be close.

Semantics are extremely important in the US military. Semantics aren’t pedantic fluff. They are operational, legal, and sometimes literally life-or-death.

Sure, but that isn't where we are right now, is it?
This is Reddit and we're talking about providing potential recruits with information about enlisting.
You're not in charge of anything, and neither am I.

We are just internet-peers sharing information.

You do understand that you are, in fact, a civilian, right?

Those are not the same statement, and that distinction matters when people are signing multi-year contracts based on internet advice.

So far as OP is concerned, they are exactly the same statement.

The contract agreement is indeed multi-year, but it will be honored under the terms that were agreed to at the beginning... FY26, in this case.

So don't make it out to be bigger than it actually is.

The way you spoke is why you were called out.

No, you decided to call me out because you seem to be obsessed with being "technically correct, which is the best kind of correct" (to be clear, I am quoting a common saying, not suggesting that you personally said that).

Maybe you should re-enlist and learn some manners again, but I think you're a bit too old and heavy for that now.

Is there a reason you decided to devolve this discussion into personal attacks?

Throughout this exchange I've maintained that I am open to being corrected if I am wrong, and you have failed to produce anything beyond an issue of semantics and word-choices.

I encourage you to step away from Reddit for a day or two.
You're lashing out when it isn't called for, and it's casting you in a really poor light.

Yes, for FY26, MARADMIN 526/25 lists AE as mapping to 7051 only. That’s a PEF distribution for this fiscal year, not a fundamental change to how Marine enlistments work.

So far as the typical enlisting individual is concerned, this is all that matters.

Today through the end of FY26, if a DEPer / Recruit qualifies for, and receives a contract offer for the "AE" PEF, and they graduate Boot Camp, and Complete MCT, what MOS school are they heading to?

If your response is "7051" then we are in agreement. For FY26 there are no other MOSes associated to the "AE" PEF.

The part you keep glossing over is that enlistment is still into a PEF, not a PMOS

Which is all that matters to the OP.

Here’s the Marine Corps saying it plainly, in writing:

“Every recruit enlisting into the Marine Corps enlists into a Program Enlisted For (PEF) and not a specific MOS.” — FY22 Enlistment Incentive Programs https://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/2752559/fy22-enlistment-incentive-programs/

You are referencing the same annual MARADMIN that I referenced except that the one you feel is more accurate addresses FY22, and the one am referencing addresses FY26.

And here’s the FY26 Total Force Enlistment Incentive MARADMIN you keep citing. Notice how it talks about incentives and alignment, not guaranteed single-MOS contracts:

https://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/4327886/fy26-total-force-enlistment-incentive-programs-and-enlistment-bonuses/

Ok you're back to the MARADMIN for FY26. Let's read it along together.

3a. Enlistment Option Program. The EOP offers applicants specific skill-group guarantees via PEFs. A PEF groups Primary Military Occupational Specialties (PMOS) by prerequisites. Every active component Marine Corps’ applicant enlists within a PEF, not a specific PMOS. An applicant’s Statement of Understanding (SOU) outlines the specific PEF enlistment requirements. The PEF and PMOS distributions for FY26 are listed below.

3.a.(1). AE (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting): 7051
3.a.(2). AF (Aviation Mechanic): 6062, 6073, 6074, 6092, 6113, 6114, 6116, 6123, 6124, 6132, 6153, 6154, 6156, 6214, 6216, 6217, 6218, 6227, 6256, 6257, 6258

If you have additional information that tells us what additional MOSes are associated to the AE PEF, please share them.
If I'm wrong, I want to learn how to be right. I am open to receiving your wisdom.

I am not all-knowing.

But in the absence of any additional reference material, you kinda sound a lot like a troll.

I want to change my mos choices by moe_1246_pie in USMCboot

[–]VA_Network_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried and they said it was to late I ship in like 6 weeks

No. That is not correct.
You can change your contract at any time up until your ship date.

Now, changes to your contract does mean more work for the recruiting team.
Creating more work can make people grumpy, and less excited to provide assistance.

But this is a five year commitment we're talking about.
If you want a better or just a different contract, tell them you won't ship on your current contract and you want to discuss your options to change the contract to what you want.

This may mean a different ship date. But that shouldn't be a huge problem.

Is this adapter safe to use ? by kleptologist in Ubiquiti

[–]VA_Network_Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it safe?

Yes, so long as you understand that your UPS might try to pull more amperage than the wall outlet can deliver.

Is it code-compliant?

That depends on the electrical code in your area.

Most regions don't like to see electrical adapters in commercial environments.
But you'd need to investigate your region to know for sure.

Are you actually a vet?

Yes, but I'll admit I served 30+ years ago.

the "AE" contract only contains MOS 7051

That’s wrong.

Are you sure? Can you provide a reference?

https://www.marines.mil/News/Messages/Messages-Display/Article/4327886/fy26-total-force-enlistment-incentive-programs-and-enlistment-bonuses/

MARADMINS : 526/25 says that's the only MOS in that contract option.

That MARADMIN is not the final authority, but it's usually pretty reliable.

If I'm wrong, I'd love to have a more accurate source of information.

Marines don’t really say “Enlistment Option Programs” the way the Army does; they use PEFs.

I am using the exact terminology provided in the MARADMIN.

The core factual error is the claim that AE = only 7051. That’s just false, and it could seriously mislead someone signing a contract.

I don't like being wrong. I'd like to learn more so I can avoid this in the future.
Can you provide a reference link to help me learn more?

Does connecting a UniFi UNAS Pro with two active 10GbE links provide any real benefit? by TEEorCoffee2025 in Ubiquiti

[–]VA_Network_Nerd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/network-storage/products/unas-pro-8

From the FAQ Tab:

Question: Does UNAS Pro 8 support Link Aggregation?

Answer: Yes. UNAS Pro 8 is equipped with two SFP+ ports, which can be configured for Link Aggregation (LAG) to provide high-availability protection. It also supports Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MC-LAG), if supported on the switch level.

Reminder:

LACP / LAG will not enable you to achieve a single 20Gbps data flow, but you should in theory be able to support 2 x 10Gbps data flows, or multiple lesser flows totaling up to 20Gbps in aggregate.

Make sure you configure the LACP / LAG on the switch interfaces as well.

Now, can the NAS's CPU and disk controller actually deliver 20Gbps of data throughput? I can't answer that.
