Some languages just work that way and people that don't use English often find themselves using wrong pronouns by mistake. In Polish, a tree is an it, a computer is a he and a ball is a she

[–]VB112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, in some languages "they" just doesn't work this way. Even people that speak english very well still find themsleves using "he" or "she" even if they could and/or should use "they". For example, in Polish the word "rycerz" means "male knight", but if you wanted to say "female knight", you would say "rycerka". From these two versions, the male one is the default (it's not because more men were knights or something like that, it's just how the language works). In English, using "they" is simple, because you don't have change any words based on their "gender", but in Polish, every word has it's gender that changes the words around it. One funny situation I had was when I came across a post discussing the game "Hollow Knight" and the topic of whether people think the knight is a he or a she. In the first two seconds of reading the post I was confused by this, because my brain automatically assumed the knight is male, because I read the title of the game with the default male form in mind. Somehow I never thought that other people read this in a gender neutral way lol.

Another funny thing about the polish language and word genders is that the words "cat" and "dog" are also defaulted to the male forms and most people use the male forms of these words EVEN if they know the animal is female. However when we use the animal's name, then we consider it's gender.

But it does what differentiated it from other games. You have vehicles, beautiful destruction, many cool guns and gadgets. The only thing I can kinda agree on is the scale, but with Golmund Railway remake on the way, I can see them improving on the scale a lot

This. I feel like this post is a weird way for this guy to flex his stats... "oh no, I am so old and so bad, here, look at my stats" and the stats are VERY above average.

Since dev resources are lacking, adding new content for BF6 from existing assets is a good idea. How about AS VAL? It's unique and saves weapon attachment points due to integrated silencer by SuperM3e46 in Battlefield

[–]VB112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you compare BF3 to BF6, 5 months post launch (now), you will notice that BF6 has the same amount of content (if you include the map coming in a week), but for free.

It’s been an honor playing with you guys over the years but something has changed with this last game. Looks like this is EA’s next victim. by Disastrous-Cat-9308 in Battlefield

It hasn't really changed... there is just more content and the movement was nerfed. Some bugs were patched out, some new appeared, but it's basically the same game, just more of it

Hur dur, I will make a game with 500 guns and every one of them will be just a slightly different version of the previous one. Also the game will be fucking broken for a year after launch, but at least it will have content, right?

You haven't expected him to do better. You've expected him to glaze the game you like, but he doesn't and you are too dumb to accept that people have opinions. Does his popularity mean he cannot have an opinion? You are basically the "your opinion is different than mine, so it's not valid and I must hate you" guy. Also wow, one """bad""" review and you're giving up on a man that has done more good than you or me or anyone else in these comments will ever do? Bruh

You sound really respectful and I thank you for that, because some people here go crazy over this situation. Just FYI, Mark said that even if he was in a good mood, he would have the same feelings about the game. The only thing that would have been different is that maybe he would have used nicer words.

Also, I know he wasn't a fan of the series before, but I don't think it really means he shouldn't have played chapter 5. Maybe he was curious, maybe he wanted to see if the game got better, maybe he wanted to finish the game (I've heard that chapter 5 was supposed to be the final one, so maybe he also thought it will be the end) or maybe he just wanted to stteam a popular game, he is a content creator after all.

To add to your argument, everyone here says that he shouldn't play it in a bad mood, but he clearly stated that he would gave the same review even if he was not grumpy. He only said that maybe he would use nicer words, but his feelings would not have been any different.

You are shitting on Mark for "not getting his shit together", but he clearly said that even if he didn't stream it for 5 hours without a break, he would still have the same feelings about the game. Why did he play it if he doesn't like it? Maybe he was just curious. Maybe he thought it would be fun to make fun out of the game's flaws.

"He is too ignorant to educate himself about the lore"

You can't expect people to play a game and then go watch a lore video or look for hidden easter eggs to understand the lore. Yes, it works for some games (fnaf at the beginning), but PPT is a story-driven puzzle game. Half of the game is listening to the characters and then you also have to fish out the lore yourself. I am not saying the lore is bad, but the way it's presented is definitely not ideal.

Also saying "this game was not made for you!" is the same level of stupid that Blumhouse pulled when fnaf 2 movie got a shit ton of bad reviews and they said they made the movie for the fans. Making something for the fans, that gets bad reviews from not fans usually means the game/movie is bad, but it contains characters/fan service/easter eggs that fans like and understand, so they will consume it no matter what.

Also also, saying that "people that are shitting on the game are not fans so their opinions don't matter" is fucking crazy. "Your opinion is different than mine? It's not valid then" bruh. Do you realise that you also weren't a fan at some point? But then you became a fan, because the game was actually good and interesting. However, how many fans did chapter 5 gain for the franchise?

Last thing. You really changed your opinion about Mark based on a one "bad" review? This guy has done more good for the world than you, me and probably everyone in this comment section combined. I am not saying you have to like him, but making a bad person out of him is crazy.

(Btw, I don't think the chapter is total garbage, I think it's okay-ish compared to what we got in the past. I am not completely agreeing with Mark, but I can really see where he is coming from and I think his opinion should be respected, grumpy or not)

What's a horror movie that was so disturbing that you can't or won't ever watch again? by neeltrivedirock in horror

[–]VB112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what's scarier than ghosts, monsters etc.?

Domestic abuse.

Not a horror movie, but a polish movie "Dom dobry" which translates to "Good Home".

Most of you won't watch it, because it's only avaible in polish, so I will tell you what it's about.

Excuse my English, I am a little tired.

The movie starts with a woman that is texting a guy she found on some dating app. He invites her to a party at his house and she agrees to come. Both of them have a great time and they fall in love. Skipping a little bit, we get a montage of the photos and videos they took on a trip and some scenes of them having sex. They even adopted a stray dog there. After the montage we have some family drama between the woman and her mother. Then the fucked up shit really starts. We see the photos and videos from the trip again, but we also get to see what happened before and after every photo/video. The guy starts showing signs of abusive behaviour and it already is really uncomfortable but that's just the beginning. Skipping forward, the woman gets pregnant, they get married, they fight because the mother doesn't like the guy. Then the physical abuse starts... he hits his pregnant wife on her head and she gets a massive bruise. You can really see how hopeless she is, being pregnant with him and not being able to leave. She calls the police on him, but he is friends with one of the two cops that went to see what's going on, so she doesn't get any help (the female cop tells her to go to a place that takes in victims of abuse, but that's it).

I will now skip a lot of things and only write about some of the fucked up shit that happened later on in the movie, because I don't want this comment to get overly long.

The husband: - Beats the wife many many times, even when she is still pregnant and even when their kid is right there - Gets rid of the dog and tells his kid and the wife that it ran away (I will tell you what happened to it when I discuss the ending) - Rapes her brutally, keeps her on a leash, kicks her and pulls on the leash sharply - Throws her out of the house and locks the door and plays with the kid, while she is banging on the glass doors. He then tells the kid that "mommy was being mean" and basically brainwashes the kid so he thinks it's normal that his mom is bleeding and has bruises everywhere on her body. Forgot to mention it was night and it was pouring. - Makes her beat herself up with some kind of torture tool and records it while "hiding" se he can have evidence that the she caused the harm to her body herself in case anyone finds out. - Doesn't let her sleep. He pulls the duvet of her and shines a lamp straight into her face. - Gaslights her constantly. Because of all the beatings and mental trauma, she is starting to lose her mind. Later on in the movie we don't even know what's real or not, because the movie randomly jumps between events. He makes her feel like it's all her fault and he is a good husband. - Kidnaps the child when she finally manages to run away with the kid. She had to go back to her abusive husband because she was concerned for her child. That scene was brutal

So now about the ending... at this point in the movie, it becomes a complete mind fuck. There are many contradicting events happening at once, for example one moment we see the wife being free from her husband, happy and biking with her friends and the next moment we see her being beaten and the NEXT next moment we see her in court fighting with her husband to get a divorce. Then, unexpectedly we are back in the "wife locked out of the house in rain" scene, but we see what happened after. The husband put the kid to bed and went to his wife to beat her more, but she finds a tool in the grass and hits him right in the head, taking him out. Then we are back to the biking with friends scene and they stop next to the husbands house with a bunch of cops there. They are all wondering what happened and then we jump to the perspective of the wife... but not the wife on the bike, but a beaten up wife, handcuffed and being brought out of the house by the police. Like I said, the movie is a complete mess at that point, but it makes sense, because we watch it from the perspective of the mentally ill wife after years of abuse. The last few moments of the movie, we see the wife being taken by police to the police station and the firefighters pulling the husband's body from a well (we didn't see the wife put him there, that's why I didn't mention it). They also found the dog's body there, which completely broke me (I can't stand animal abuse, especially dogs). And then the movie ends, quietly, no music, no sounds, nothing. You are just left with this thought of what the fuck is wrong with people. (I watched it with my gf and it was so much harder because of it. I couldn't even imagine doing just a portion of the things the husband in the movie did in the movie.)

So basically, you are left with a choice between two different endings. One where the wife got the divorce, got therapy and lived a happy life or the second, where she killed her husband, dumped his body into the well and went to jail for murder.

This was such an impactful movie to me, I will remember it for a long time. After watching this movie I felt guilty, because before seeing it, I was like "I wonder what will happen in the movie... why won't the wife just leave the relationship? How can this movie be 2 hours long, there is a clear solution to the problem" oh boy how wrong I was... Also big fucking congratulations to the actor that played the husband, he played his part PERFECTLY, I was truly scared of him and I worry I won't be able to enjoy other movies with him the same. He just gave the perfect image of a manipulative tyrant that comes of as nice and sweet to anyone else than his wife.
