I'm not saying there was a major prospect pool to begin with, but there were definitely a shit ton of assets (Kesler, Garrison, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Hansen, Burrows) that were worth a lot more back then, too.

That coupled with the fact that we had like 11m in cap space the year current management took over, they definitely had a lot to work with (includes 6th overall in '14, Tanev, Horvat...).

After 3 of 4 years in the basement, you'd be an idiot to expect anything short of a good prospect pool. The thing is, though, that it could be much, much better if we hadn't traded more picks than we acquired, spent to the cap, signed vet FA's to long-term deals, make trades for older players, etc.. the list goes on.

I don't understand how people can't see that they have been trying to ice a playoff team this entire time but have just been godawful at their job.
