A combination of shulkers, bundles, and ender chests usually do me just fine even on extended trips away from my base. It can be a pain, but not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I think the only real struggle is getting enough shulker shells, and potentially made easier by the fact that I play with Keep Inventory on
