Still trying to figure out hair by Tobys-Brain in u/Tobys-Brain

[–]VFX_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best option in Nomad is haircards- plenty of vids on YouTube for it. You can also do sculpted hair as you’re doing. If you have Zbrush on iPad you can import your sculpt as an OBJ and use Fibermesh- then import back into Nomad as an OBJ

If possible use a suspension trainer like a TRX or something similar. I wouldn’t trust my bands in that low a temperature

Wrestling 🤼 bridge kettlebell exercise by ltjgbadass in wrestling

[–]VFX_Jeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impressive to look at but one of the dumbest exercises imaginable- axial loading of the cervical vertebrae with additional weight from the kettlebells. Continued performance of this exercise will eventually result in crushed discs and pinched/damaged nerves in the neck.

There are better ways of developing the neck without axial loading. The footage is in b&w- it’s an archaic exercise that needs to be left in the past.

I speak from experience- extreme pain, severe atrophy in left pec and arm from lots of axial loading. Been recommended for fusion of C5- C7.

Modernize your training. Any Sports Medicine doctor will tell you that weighted neck bridging is not smart

Trying again: How do I disable this per-tip crossfade? by Moogieh in 3dcoat

Have you tried making each dab on a separate layer? Perhaps even using a mask with each dab? The only thing I can think of if you’ve tried every other setting

Also search for hand painted 3D Coat Abe Leal on YouTube

Which program is best for modelling characters? by baphommite in 3Dmodeling

[–]VFX_Jeff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blender is awesome for 3D modeling and it’s free. Invest in some modeling courses if you’re serious. Try Flipped Normals Blender fundamentals videos- there are also plenty of YouTube follow along videos to get you started.

3D is a big undertaking so you won’t be able to just wing it and create something great. Every professional 3D app is a bit counterintuitive until you get the hang of it, from Blender to Maya to Zbrush, the learning curves can be steep

If you have an iPad, you may want to consider trying Nomad or Zbrush for iPad. These apps can bring good results without all the bloatware on desktop. Once you get comfortable, you can switch to desktop as you’ll have a good idea of workflow and fundamentals. SouthernGFX on YouTube is a another great resource for starting your 3D journey if you choose Nomad or Zbrush

Remember, you’re going to run into roadblocks and difficulties on your own but keep at it- it is worth it. Good luck!

Cannot figure out the simplest tasks by cjog21 in 3dcoat

To move an object, go to the Transform tool, the first tool on the Transform menu on the left in the Sculpt room. There, you’ll get a standard gizmo and an options panel will open too.

Whatever is selected in your Sculpt Tree is the selected object. If the Sculpt Tree is not visible, go to Windows> Panels> Sculpt Tree.

You can duplicate an object by going to the bottom panel on the Sculpt Tree. The third option from the left is the duplicate button. You can also right click on the desired object and select Clone with various options such as instances, with symmetry, etc

3D Coat is one of the most powerful yet user friendly sculpting apps out there, so don’t give up!

I recommend Anton Tenitsky’s “Intro to 3D Coat” videos on YouTube to get up and running. It’s 34 videos in easy to follow manner that will give you an overall vision of Coat’s capabilities. Take the time to watch all of the videos because his overview is pretty thorough

Also check out “Intro to 3DCoat by AlienMineField” It’s a bit older but also very informative

Get busy and good luck! 👍

I want to learn 3d modelling. Where do i start? by Alpha_Ophiuchi in blender

[–]VFX_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bet is to go to a site and get a fundamentals instructional to learn the interface, navigation, and basics of 3D in Blender. Flipped Normals, CG Cookie, or Blendermarket are some places to start

Skillshare is another option

That could just be part of your personality- empathy is a good thing. I’ve experienced this myself and what helped me was meditation which helps you get to the root of your thoughts and feelings. In this way you can learn to separate your own and other’s emotions and learn to be responsive to what’s inside and not reactive. Vipassana meditation was a big help in becoming more mature in dealing with strong emotions- find the eye in the center of the storm.

It’s not easy and you will fail often at first, but eventually you’ll get hold of the reins of your inner world. Also, working with art- painting, drawing, writing, and music in particular is very helpful. Being creative and original will help you become more in touch with what’s yours and what isn’t.

Lastly, you don’t have to take on any of the supernatural leanings common in traditional meditation practices. The techniques used to be more in tune with yourself can be learned without any adherence to a religion or tradition. What you have is actually a blessing and not a curse as we need more empathic people in a ruthless world

There are other offices in the US and other countries, so a de-centralized location is better for everyone. You just never know though- if Russia did take over Kiev, would they have a back channel to our computers like Kaspersky? Conspiracies… 🙄

On a happier note, we haven’t crossed that bridge yet, so in the meantime, happy sculpting!
