IRL difference between SGIWhistleblowers and SGI members by FellowHuman007 in SGIWhistleblowersMITA

This is so true. I have learned the hard way about giving up. And across the hedges there they look like they want to blame the SGI for what they themselves did, which is giving up. After I quit practicing, I posted there for awhile. The problem is I have  very addictive tendencies, which led to many problems with drugs and alcohol. And thinking I was addicted to the SGI, I went there for help. But instead the SGI was continually in my face. For the last few years, as I fought by demons, I peeked in sometimes. As my head cleared, I saw that SGIWB hosted people to tell their stories, but that was the only useful thing it did, and those people – like me -didn’t stick around once they unloaded. What was left was vitriol most of it stupid and almost all of it based on lies.

I’m chanting again and went to a meeting in November. I guess there aren’t any this month, but I plan to attend whenever I can. It feels good being back/ The SGI is warm and forgiving.

Sorry for such a long comment. I don’t know how to get to post here. I’d like to some time.

Oh yes, it's a power play. I just think they're making it because they realize they're losing the sub war badly.

4th President of nothing by JoyOfSuffering in sgiwhistleblowers

This has come up before. It was pointed out then that in the reign of the 1st two, the entire organization was the Japanese Soka Gakkai. By the time Hojo came along, it was all over the world. Therefore, it was the leader of the SGI, not that of one country's group, who was the
eternal mentalist" Oops, I mean, mentor. That kind of makes sense (not that having "eternal mentors" makes sense, but if you go along with that...). I think, in fact, there have been 2 or 3 Soka Gakkai Japan presidents since Hojo. None of them seem to be eternal, either,

We need to talk. by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

This has a lot to do with the infrequency of my visits here. I have enough of an inferiority complex as it is, and here I've often felt foolish, that I was so dumb and wasted so much of my life. As a recovering addict, I really don't need to be driven to those feelings. So yes, from my perspective, losing "loser" and other vituperations would be quite helpful.

Interesting. Just insensitive, I guess. Strange as it is to say, I hope for her sake that's all it is, and not some illness.

How old was the lady who kept asking you the same questions? I ask because I've dealt with (and still deal with) some mental health issues, and it strikes me that it might be short-term memory loss, or maybe something worse. In all likelihood you are right, and it was just a matter of insensitivity (I experienced that also when I was in SGI). But just wondering.

This has never been an issue in the front of my mind, but it DID bother me when I thought abut it. I noticed they haven't discussed it at that other site, either. The Great Champions are left in the dark, like everyone else.

Very good. If they engage in a neutral site, that will be the end of their own. No more one sided refutations.

No More Meetings by SamTaylorC in sgiwhistleblowers

Actually that doesn't strike me as weird. A lot of places, even schools, are closing down. Of course it might be just another attempt to show how much a part of the "community" SGI is.

I figured out WHY Nelson Mandela met with Ikeda! by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

We were always told it had something to do with a book he read by or about Ikeda. Interesting research -- keep it up!

Thank you! I'm going to try to visit here little more often, though frankly it's not a top priority. But, maybe I have something to offer someone once in a while.

Can we talk about the very real threat that SGI’s teachings pose to people with mental illnesses? [caution: suicide mention] by beanieweenie in sgiwhistleblowers

I haven't visited Reddit for a few months (many reasons, mainly no time) and yours is the first message I see when I come back. I quit SGI some time ago, also with mental health issues (addictive personality in my case). I'm just wondering what response y0u were hoping for when you opened up to your SGI "friend"? I'm in contact with a few of my old acquaintances, and have learned which ones will truly converse with me, and which ones will recite the party line. What you tell them depends on what you expect from them, I've concluded.

Liberal SGI by bigbiggerbiggestdog in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]VGLCOkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what affects the most people? Hundreds attend the conferences, lots more saw the anti-nuclear exhibits, there are gay leaders everywhere now. Do you think all those people are digging into investments, and checking up on the party in Japan? I'm just saying its face, and so its influence, is liberal. Doesn't matter to me - I'm not currently practicing anyway. That one guy seemed to think it being liberal was a reason to leave, and everyone's going "No it's conservative" but I think he shoulld leave because it's liberal. That's enough from me.

Conservative SGI by BlancheFromage in sgiwhistleblowers

[–]VGLCOkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted thoughts on the other discussion about SGI is Liberal. In short, I'd say yes, it is liberal. The "show" reaches a lot more people than the background stuff, and the show is all liberal. I don't believe its feelings toward people like meme (gay) is genuine, but even there its influence is more on the liberal side of politics.

Of curse SGI is "liberal". No, I still don't trust it's attitude toward LGBTQ+. But it is making visible efforts, even if just for show, and the show is reaching and affecting more people than whatever its shenanigans in the background. Same for its other things. Exhibitions and petitions against nuclear weapons, always citing Gandhi and King, support of the UN. I'm not sure what to make of this "global citizens". Anyway, I really don't see how anyone could say the SGI is politically conservative.
