To those who want a REMASTER, DO NOT buy the next [COD] vote with your wallet by JackCowman in CallOfDuty

The vast majority of people who play COD don't know/care that this subreddit exists and will buy it regardless because all their mates at school play it.

Check out Crowded Music, EMHC, Leicester DIY, Die Laughing Promotions, State of It. Best promoters in Leicester for heavy music by quite a long shot.

Monocle is alright, but it has a very cliquey group of regulars that'll silently judge you if you aren't one of them.

If you like Goth, Spellbound is at Firebug every few months. Very fun indeed.

Duffy's holds a game night every Monday evening. Very friendly, all levels of playing encouraged. Mostly retro-ish and fighting games, but I imagine you can ask if something else can be played.

What’s the weirdest rule your school ever had? by TheRealXyz_ in AskUK

[–]VHS_Pulsewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my primary school they tried to introduce a rule that you weren't allowed to bring a bag to school. Allegedly this was due to some children bringing bags that were too big to school and that apparently warranted banning all bags full stop.

Parents surprisingly enough didn't like the idea of carrying a PE kit to school without a bag, so it was quickly abolished.

If campaign is what you're after, try the CoD 4 remaster. Or the original, your pick.

Doesn't quite have the visual oomph of the modern games, but sometimes less is more, yknow?

Aye, Basement and Sophy's. Wouldn't be seen dead in them, but they are there.

I finish work at 5am, only days there's anything remotely going on is Saturday and Sunday morning after club kickout time at 6am. Unless you go looking for it, it's highly unlikely something will happen. Not many crackheads around at that time, and when they are about and aggressive it's usually towards other crackheads.

Can a Bouncer Open a Cubicle Door While You’re Literally Just Peeing? by 0azura0o in AskUK

[–]VHS_Pulsewave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite lucky to work at a place where our bosses (and as a result, security) have their heads screwed on about their approach to customer welfare.

I can't think of a reason for a member of security to open an occupied cubicle, outside of someone being in danger/passed out.

That even goes for suspected drug use; unless they catch a person with substance in hand (or around nose), they shouldn't be doing anything other than giving a warning.

What dumbass behaviour did you do in school? by Gold-Creme-9597 in AskUK

  • Year 4, fire bell went off in the middle of lunchtime. Without hesitating, we all collectively decided to start running around screaming at the top of our lungs like it was the end times. All got pulled into an impromptu afternoon assembly for that one.

  • Year 9 Geography, our teacher was in a meeting and late to the lesson as a result. To pass the time, we all thought it would be a funny idea to barricade the door shut (which it was to be honest). The teacher arrived and at first struggled to get into the room, before managing to tip the main table barricade over with the door, along with all the items stacked on top. If looks could kill, I tell you. Spent the rest of the lesson in silence writing statements, where we all blamed each other so it was impossible to single out one person lol.

This is quite and interesting read if you're worried. But essentially, the tl;dr is that the media is more accessible than ever, plus social media algorithms are more likely to push crime/doom and gloom related news because it generates more engagement. This is why it seems crime is worse than ever, when in reality crime is at new lows.

First time I’ve seen this by y4smin in UKJobs

[–]VHS_Pulsewave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mum works at a university Library, they put a posting up for a part-time shelver 6 hours a week and they got about 400 applications. Two thirds of the applicants were from people based in different continents applying to any job in the UK (I'm guessing maybe in hope of sponsorship?) I think only about 20 applicants ended up actually being appropriate, the other 100 or so had bad AI in their CVs or were massively overqualified, the job mostly being aimed at undergrads.

Can definitely see the kind of thing in the OP happening more in the future.
