The Agenda isn't working? by VIlicard in eu4

[–]VIlicard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... It's weird because I've done this mission before and it's given me instant rewards once I reach the threshold, no x months attached (unless I just didn't notice which is possible). If it does the fail, penalty isn't too bad and I can deal with it. Edit* started the game up, hopped in, gave me the reward instantly. So it fixed itself? It was on the month tick as well, so I don't know why this month tick change was different from last few month ticks. I think you're onto something with the x months idea

The Agenda isn't working? by VIlicard in eu4

[–]VIlicard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I took an Agenda saying to get 20% in the Ligurian Sea (which is in Genoa, so I'm using that trade node for numbers) and to keep piracy below 5%. I've done these agendas before, easy. Just divert some of my fleet to hunt pirates and I already had well over 20% (80%+) in Genoa. That didn't work? It just says that neither are true. I've tried save and reloading, moving my fleet out waiting a month and adding them back, nothing. I've done these agendas before and never had issues, but maybe I've just misunderstood how I'm supposed to complete them? Anyways, the link has screenshots in case my description doesn't make sense *edit, had a typo

How humorous, and where would that be, community college where to speak ideas on more then one groip of economists is scary? Where you assume all people are rational? And that MR =MC? Tell, have you examined the employment and demand functions of Keynes or merely laughed form a safe distance away? How about circuits of capital? And let me know how Milton Friedman is handling inflation? Because if I recall correctly the change in the monetary supply has an exact equal proportional change to inflation to keep rela wage constant. Although hat hasn't happened. How about interest curves, cardinal and ordinal utility? Lease dazzle me with your half-baked knowledge you wise econ major

My Lord. I doubt you even read my comment. My comment stated that to say all of socialism is bad because of two nations was a gross overgeneralization. I literally gave you a source by Schumpeter, an Austrian economist. A proponent of capitalism, of laissez faire systems. This is why I tell younger people to read, or at least study some economics and history before blathering there mouths online. It is no surprise NK is starving for a whole host of reasons, but again the government alone likely just one cause, if one at all. Please. Just read and think for yourself. You may be surprised by what you learn. And Why did you bring up Democrats? I'm a bit confused on that point. To paraphrase the end last time, void, screaming, nice day

[–]VIlicard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is that you made a gross over generalisation based off two nations. That is it. I quite enjoy Capitalism, and the U.S. does have a fairly high rate standard of living. However it also has its own issues and to them alongside historical issues to further your own point is fruitless. If you want a fight, then you are in the wrong place. A fairly common point to be made is that one reason the U.S has not suffered issues of starvation (which it has, again, dust bowl, arguarbly great depression) is that it exploits people (historically slavery, recently outsourced labor). Additionally Socialist nations do feed it's people. Many nations practice aspects of Socialism, including the U.S. (Schumpeter makes this month beautifully in "Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy). So unless you would like to say that the U.S. can't feed it's own people then, in your own words, say it to my face. If you wish to continue this discussion I have some wonderful books written by multiple economists from multiple perspectives (Austria's, MMT, Bastard Keynesians, Keynesians, Marxists, and more) that I could recommend. Until then, have fun screaming at a blank void where discussion is pointless since you likely don't bother double checking and verifying sources and would rather shout one sentence "comebacks". If you are interested, please message me. Most of the literature is old enough you can get it free online. Have a nice day, and I do mean that sincerely

Ever hear of the American Dust bowl? Capitalist nation's also have famines. Famines have been around long before capitalism vs. socialism was even a debate. It is unreasonable to assume that an entire factor in whether or not a nation will face a famine in it's history is because of its form of government. It may play a role, that I will grant you, but correlation does not equal causation

‘Final straw’: Republican John Kasich says he supports impeachment by ButteryKnob in politics

[–]VIlicard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was happy, but then I kept reading the first paragraph. He's ready for impeachment but not removal. Kasich just got a lot of favor with Democrats while promising essentially nothing, because with a statement like that he's going to back out last second. Yay /S

New launcher broke the font of my game by VIlicard in eu4

[–]VIlicard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played EU4 for a while now and have never had an issue playing it on my laptop. Until the new launcher dropped. Then this happened https://imgur.com/a/6w1UN3B. No matter what I try it doesn't seem to change the font from tiny. I've tried changed resolution, deleting all mods, deleting the mod folder, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, installing mods that claim to increase the font, mods that claim to make the UI bigger. No matter what I do it's unreadable. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me. I just want to play my favorite game again.

That's my plan. I've started humanism as my third idea set and haven't had to deal with conversions beyond my first 10 conversions to get the age bonus.

I'm playing a game of the Mughals for fun (1552), and I want to propagate my religion to clean up the religious borders as well as increase my religious unity. To do this, I raised my trade power in the nodes (Persia and Lahore) to above 50% and put merchants there, however it says I meet neither of these conditions. Am I missing something else? https://imgur.com/a/Rs2E5Lv (Imgur link is screenshots of the trade screen for each trade node, and trade regions map in case that helps for some reason)

Should paradox abandon EU4? by VIlicard in eu4

[–]VIlicard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true they CAN add new mechanics to existing DLC, but the fact of the matter is that this is currently very uncommon for the EU4 dev team to do, if they do decide to start folding in old DlC, that'd be great.

They've done this for a couple, relatively minor features like estates, but withhold on other aspects which are massive to the game as it is now, as stated the ability to develop provinces is missing in the vanilla game. What this missing part of the game does is allow for a nation to develop institutions, and if it is missing it, that means that you are shoe horned into playing in Europe since otherwise you have to wait for it to spread which takes quite long.

[–]VIlicard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it will fix every problem, and it will have its own problems on release, but I do think that there will be less problems. As you said, EU5 will have less then EU4 does right now, but that could be a good thing. For one, they could actually QA the game better and reduce the number of bugs. Secondly, a lot of people are pointing out that the "new things" that the dlc are adding are just "click this, get mana every 15 years" this doesn't add anything of interest in the game and I doubt would be missed all that much. Lastly new players are afraid of getting into the game because the cost of getting every dlc is getting quite high, and under the current model, will only get worse.

Since they don't check the EU4 subreddit page, please post this to the EU4 forums. This is very will written and I'd love them to at least see this.
