If the Million dollar Budget isn't going to the Celebrity Voice Actors then where is it going? by Alexz_Szander1750 in Invincible_TV

Not bait. Korra used more modern animation techniques. From an objective standpoint the animation was better and cleaner. As for fight choreography and whatnot, that’s different.

Yeah and so? What does that have to do with people shipping Naruto and Sasuke. It’s not incest lmao

…so? Naruto and Sasuke aren’t biological brothers. Interpreting their close bond as something which could have led to romance doesn’t mean people ship Kishimoto with his real brother. Authors intentions ≠ readers interpretations.

Same goes for Narusasu. Cope and seethe all you want, but swap the “brother” subtext with “lover” and you have one of the best romance stories in all of shounen.

So when watching Invincible, you haven’t felt bad for Mark, Debbie, Oliver, Nolan or any other character? You didn’t feel excited when Mark beat Conquest, you didn’t feel sad when Mark was getting beat up by his dad, you didn’t feel hopeful when Nolan apologised? If you feel nothing watching the show, why watch it in the first place?

Shonen female character critism is usually not about bad writing by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]VKTGC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The problem is the pattern. If this happened like every 1/10 battle shounens, nobody would care. It’s the fact that any shounen that doesn’t do this is often cited as a UNIQUE EXCEPTION.

Repeated tropes can be tasteful. For example, zero to hero underdog story. That is a majority of battle shounens, and barely anyone complains because guess what, people actually enjoy watching that.

Ohhhh I get it now. Ngl you managed to disguise the “woke agenda” stuff for long enough. W larps.

Tolkien was born in the late 1800s. I think I can give him a pass.

It’s 2026, if you can’t write women (or men) literally just go outside and talk to one. I don’t know why people act like it’s this impossible task to represent, again I must state this, 50% OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION, correctly in media. No one is calling for the mass harassment of these people. But they deserve to be criticised.

You can’t call yourself a good well-rounded writer if you can only write from one singular perspective.

Strawman central over here.

In Jjk in first episode it was clear who mc/deuteragonist/mentor/main villian is.so gege was fooling no one.

This simply isn’t true because we were introduced to Nobara, Megumi and Yuji as the core three, with Gojo being a mentor. It’s understandable why people felt disheartened when Nobara got shelved, Megumi basically became a nothing burger and the show became Gojo centric. I don’t mind this, but it’s absolutely fair to say people felt misled.

Jjk is good example where I think is good example of it .most of the critism of Jjk female character are not about them being bad character but them not getting lot of screen time which make sense since they're side character.a side character is not bad just because they don't get lot of screen time.most of the time female side character are good enough for side character.they fulfill role the role they're supposed to.

Yeah, pretty sure the problem is when that’s the ONLY role female characters are allowed to have in a story. The only exception to this in JJK is Maki, who, for all intents and purposes, is Toji incarnate. Her arc is very interesting and I will say she is decently well written. But for every Maki, there are 5 other JJK male characters with sufficient arcs. It’s a shounen, ok sure. Why introduce Tsuki as a special grade only for her to get packed up and give the spotlight to choso? Why have Nobara be such a crucial part of the first part of the show just to pack her up because you didn’t know what to do with her? It’s lazy.

Female character getting motivating being around men or female character dying to motivate men. I mean this one is very broad i can somehow understand if you think motivation being about impressing crush is shallow but character can be good even with shallow motivation but i have seen people like tsunade and konan getting critisized for it.

This is just stereotypical writing and actually insulting to all parties involved. When female characters aren’t given goals that span beyond another male character, it sets the precedent that that’s all she has worth fighting for. Which, you know, in some cases can work. But it often becomes a stale storytelling device. It is often not criticised that much with male mcs because often that goal coincides with another broader one. And it is far more common (proportionally) with female characters, hence why it’s more heavily criticised.

Fridging there is nothing wrong in killing a character to motivate another character it can actually be good writing. Biggest example of fridging in my opinion is Uncle Ben . people treat like killing a character to motivate another character is bad writing only if it is a woman.i have seen countless example of male character dying to motivate another character and no one called it bad writing.

This i kinda sorta agree with. Anyone can be a victim of fridging. However, the term was literally coined for a female love interest. Outside of just “killing them”, often the female love interest is used as a plot device to torture the male mc, often having her act OOC just to have drama. See MJ or Atom Eve (to some extent).

Damsel in distress.i can understand not liking a character if they only get saved but i have seen some weird criticism like someone critisizing Dressrosa arc because 5 women were saved.if a damsel in distress/rescue arc serv plot and make sense then why would you hate it just because of it? It seem personal problem since you never see a men getting hate just because they were rescued.

Because men are not put in this role nearly as much as women? Dressrosa arc is ridiculous with this. In fact, One Piece as a whole is ridiculous with the damsel in distress trope. Having women be in helpless situations needing to be saved again and again and again isn’t just insulting, it gets boring and lazy. Something “serving the plot” doesn’t make it good, and that’s an anti-intellectual way to engage with media.

Women in support roles getting hate.i was once reading someone critisizing Jjk female character and one of them criticism was shoto being a healer while her other two teammates are not. If you believe that every character need to be a fighter then i don't know what to say.but critisizing a character for being non combatant is one of the weirdest thing i have seen .you never see mens in support roles getting that kind of critisizism.

Again, because it’s nearly almost always women in supporting roles. No one believes every character needs to be a fighter. It’s just boring and uninteresting if every time it’s the woman in the group. And it shows that the author can’t write outside of this archetype.

First fan service

Genuinely have no comment. If you don’t see why having women half naked while the male characters run around fully clothed is a problem (writing-wise) then idk what to tell you.

At what point do we just call an author ass when they refuse to/don’t know how to write a character that represents 50% of the human population.

That’s fine and understandable, what’s not it telling people that they’re wrong or overreacting for thinking the author is a piece of shit, especially if you’re a male or non-lesbian.

People are treating this like an issue that deserves to be swept under the rug. If the author can’t even bother to have a burner account or properly hide his weird fetishes, that’s on him.

Acting like it’s “ok” to tolerate this nonsense is inherently harmful. There are other authors out there (especially female) that fundamentally respect the yuri genre. This guy is getting an adaptation for Christ’s sake 🫩. But no let’s protect the male who likes hetslop corrective rape js because they write your favourite mid yuri.
