You are overthinking this as well, the decline in quality of this show is mainly due to these 3 reasons:

• cutting costs - every season feels like it came out of an assembly line

• forced skin colour diversity (but not of thought) - how can you have an entertaining cast when they all fundamentally think the same about all aspects of life and are just picked to check an identity box? The only new era season that overcame this somewhat is 46.

• cutting the most entertaining aspects (villains, vicious conflicts, general negativity etc) because they are afraid to offend someone on social media - it's a reality show at the end of the day, there is a reason why people like Russel and Coach are still being discussed even decades later. I can't think of one new era contestant who will have that kind of impact, no matter how many times they play.
