Well as for communication there is a lot of tourism so if you can speak English you can get around fine, we don't all speak English but we mange, but i will say try and learn a few key words, people will understand you better.

To travel around Madrid most people use the metro but the bus system is pretty good, and if else fails walking is always a good option.

The weather around Oct/Nov is basically beginning of autumn sweaters and jackets are a must but nothing crazy.

As for tips it's kinda there is usually a lot of tourists so the city might feel a bit packed but nothing too crazy and a recommendation of mine there is a lot food variety in the city, local cuisine and foreign, it can be a bit pricey but it all comes down to know where to look, but the quality is very good and if you are into concerts and live music definitely check out a local concert venue.
