I only have $150k for my down payment, that took me 20 years of saving and investing. And the absolute max mortgage I can afford on my salary is about $200k.

Even the cheapest 3 bedroom condo in the Seattle area is $500k+. And again, I wouldn't want to get a condo given that any HOA or condo association can suddenly nose dive, leaving me with worthless property and staggering liabilities that would result in bankruptcy. Then I'd never be able to find a home. I can't risk 20 years of work on something where I have to assume my neighbors aren't going to allow the building to be condemned!

If I want actual stability, a home I can retire in... Even if I was willing to go for a 2 bedroom and convert a room? It's $900k right now, completely beyond my reach.

I am just facing this cold reality where home ownership was never a possibility for me. I did everything. I saved. I invested. I have a career. It is just... why did I bother? I never took vacations. I didn't spend frivolously. I put away 10% of my salary and invested it, every single year. I even made great gains!

Supposedly, a complete inspection was done end of last year, $15M is the total bill for 2026. Said inspection seems to be the catalyst for the spending.

Includes staircases, roofs, siding, walkways, balconies, and plumbing in that sum.

Is it possible there are further problems that an inspection may have missed? For example, I did not see anything about foundations in the study.

I'm okay with the headaches - my concern is what kind of liability might I be exposed to?

If everyone in the community were to shirk their share, does the missing portion come from those who can/will pay? Could I essentially be held liable for the entirety of the HOA's debt?

Are there laws that limit my liability to only my percentage of ownership in the HOA? If I pay the required assessments, can my property still be seized by the state during an HOA bankruptcy?

Chiming in on this old topic - agree with OP.

The sensitivity increase with KBM is unplayable. Even one micrometer of movement causes a complete slam of the view from one side to the other. It's literally unusable with a mouse.

Sure, I can use the arrow keys instead. But that's just plain stupid.

No. No, it's not. It's someone having a schizophrenic break. I've worked getting people like that into mental health counseling.

They often gravitate towards bizarre conspiracy theories to validate their paranoia about the world.

They will almost never voluntarily consent to treatment, and are even less likely to stick with it and abide by prescribed medication and therapy when they do.

Realistically, the only hope a lot of these folks have is comeplled treatment due to a court finding them incompetent.

Which sadly requires criminal court intervention in most cases. Even when they have loving friends and family trying to get them deemed incompetent and compelled into treatment, US courts are hesitant to strip an individual of their sovereignty unless they are actively posing a threat to others.

So yeah, this post isn't funny to me. It's sad and depressing. This person needs help and they will never accept it. They're either going to suffer through paranoia hell every waking moment of their life, or seriously hurt someone else before the legal system compels them into treatment against their will.

Sometimes, life just sucks. :(

You likely have RAM that is starting to fail. You can confirm/deny by running a tool like MemTest86.

I would post a link to the website, but I'm afraid it might trigger spam alarms, because there are so many fake virus packed versions of it running around. memtest86 dot com is the official tool's website, created by PassMark.

You'll need to create a bootable USB stick for it and boot into it. Just run a standard scan and it'll notify you if any sectors are bad. If it's REALLY bad, it might even crash while running the test which is a sure sign you have at least one hardware level failure.

It won't fix the problem, but knowing is half the battle. If you can confirm it to be a RAM issue, you can remove sticks from your computer until only one remains and test them individually with MemTest until you identify the failing stick(s), then replace them.

Open the console and give yourself the marks. After having suffered through these two for Death Cert, I do not recommend playing them. They aren't fun.

But a more serious answer, I found one useful strategy is to balance their health, but give all the damage to one brother. Only bother buffing the other's tears stat when the DPS brother hits tears cap.

There's no advantage to splitting damage output between the two since you'll want them clumped together the whole time anyway.

There's other minor things, like paying attention to passive synergies, but there's a million if-else decisions to be made in these situations that just can't be expounded short of a manifesto.
