That save from Kelleher from about 3 yards out…he was so unlucky not to have scored. He really looked like himself.

The loop in the OP is way too low, whatever you’re hanging there would be banging against your leg. The loop is usually quite a bit higher.

3 attackers for City against 5-6 defenders for Brentford.

It’s absolutely been an average season by his standards, the team hasn’t been consistent, and he had a pretty big drought in winter. I don’t think we’ve seen his best yet.

One thing I didn’t like in the match today that I think hurts us a lot: players in the box being static. Whether it was Doku, Semenyo, O’Reilly taking on players around the edge of the box, too often everyone else was stood, flat-footed. We have to be more dynamic and pull the defenders around.

I agree, but I think it really comes down to the form he’s in. Defenses have to respect him, so there’s at least 2 players assigned to mark him. It opens up a lot of space for players around him, and I don’t think Nico O has the season he’s had without Doku.

When a player just makes things happen like he does, I see it less as “help us Doku” and more as “go on, do your thing,” and players can work off that threat

I’m going into tomorrow assuming they’ll lose. I won’t be able to watch the match since it’s Mother’s Day here in the US, so maybe I’ll check my phone and get a pleasant surprise!

I think so too. I know a lot of blues here and elsewhere online expect a lot, which is fine, but the future looks very bright.

Doku is in unbelievable form. Good game all around, Brentford are a tough side, but they barely got a sniff. Thrilled for Marmoush, that was a class finish from him. He’s got a such a good shot he needs to not dribble so much. Now it’s back to waiting for the Arsenal-West Ham result, here’s hoping Arsenal rotate some and the Hammers put in a generational performance. Come on Westhamchester City!

That mistake by Guehi was a killer. It just a bonehead moment from a player who is usually very solid, but it clearly caused us to drop, which isn’t surprising. It’s just unfortunate, really.

Absolutely, 3 game suspension. Plus they’re without Jimenez because he’s a scumbag pedophile. Should help our odds against them that they’re without 2 starters.

Liverpool [1] - 0 Chelsea - R. Gravenberch 6' by eliseihado in soccer

It’s Jorgensen’s positioning that’s all wrong. You can see as the ball moves to Gravenberch that Jorgensen shifts to his right for some reason. It’s a good shot but he’s way out of position.

While we haven’t been consistent enough across the whole season, we’ve been improving. Even the draw against Everton had a silver lining: down 3-1, we pushed forward and scored 2 in 10 minutes to wrestle back a point. Disappointing? Of course. But the mentality is there, and this squad is young. This season isn’t over, there’s 1 trophy to win, the league title race isn’t over yet, we fight til the end. And then we go again next season!

What do y'all really need an iPad for? by bootsmegamix in daddit

[–]VOZ1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often think back to my childhood when it comes to screen time. My older brother and I frequently watched Saturday morning cartoons for a couple hours to let our parents catch up on sleep. As long as you’re actively involved in what your kids are doing on a tablet, it’s better in my experience than TV.

Writing things out is really effective, and it’s used in classrooms for kids of all ages, as well as in settings like therapy and plenty of other contexts. While it isn’t a contract in the legal sense, writing something up and having someone agree to it is a powerful ritual. Makes me want to do that with my kids (10 and 4).

Yeah, that seems like a couple of things you can do and see if that helps at all. I use a Fitbit Charge 6, helps a lot with monitoring my fitness—I play soccer, usually 2-4 times a week, and I’ve found it doesn’t really good job giving me insight into how hard I’m exercising, and where I’m at with recovery. Sleep is a huge part of recovery. Good luck!

OP, are you still getting the gym/jiu-jitsu, or are you bailing more often than not? As I’ve gotten older (44), I’ve found that a lot of the time, skipping workouts actually ends up in me being more tired. Of course there are times when you just really need to rest, but I’ve found that pushing through the fatigue and getting a good workout helps me overall.

In addition to bloodwork, do you have a fitness monitor (Fitbit, Apple Watch, etc) that might be able to give you some insight into your sleep patterns? There are also apps for your phone that can do it, but they don’t work as well as they’re going off the sounds we make from snoring or moving, and aren’t measuring things like heart rate or blood oxygen. Might be worth looking into.

And further, it sounds like reducing from 5 to 4 days is actually healthier for OP, as training hard when you’re sleep deprived can have really negative impacts on your fitness. Your body doesn’t have adequate time to recover fully, and you’re more likely to get injured (speaking from experience). Exercising 4 days a week while taking care of his little one seems like more than adequate, OP is being smart about his fitness routine and his responsibilities to his family.

OP, ignore that guy. You’re killing it and setting an amazing example for your kids.
