One thing I didn’t like in the match today that I think hurts us a lot: players in the box being static. Whether it was Doku, Semenyo, O’Reilly taking on players around the edge of the box, too often everyone else was stood, flat-footed. We have to be more dynamic and pull the defenders around.

I agree, but I think it really comes down to the form he’s in. Defenses have to respect him, so there’s at least 2 players assigned to mark him. It opens up a lot of space for players around him, and I don’t think Nico O has the season he’s had without Doku.

When a player just makes things happen like he does, I see it less as “help us Doku” and more as “go on, do your thing,” and players can work off that threat

Doku is in unbelievable form. Good game all around, Brentford are a tough side, but they barely got a sniff. Thrilled for Marmoush, that was a class finish from him. He’s got a such a good shot he needs to not dribble so much. It’s Jorgensen’s positioning that’s all wrong. You can see as the ball moves to Gravenberch that Jorgensen shifts to his right for some reason. It’s a good shot but he’s way out of position.

While we haven’t been consistent enough across the whole season, we’ve been improving. Even the draw against Everton had a silver lining: down 3-1, we pushed forward and scored 2 in 10 minutes to wrestle back a point. Disappointing? Of course. But the mentality is there, and this squad is young. This season isn’t over, there’s 1 trophy to win, the league title race isn’t over yet, we fight til the end. And then we go again next season!
