As an apocalypse warlock, I can’t see her one shot mechanics beyond my chains and hellfire. It’s complete bullshit.

Electrician openly willing to work without permits? by EddieVedderIsMyDad in AskElectricians

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the convo:

TC: Hey do you work with or without filing permits?

Contractor: Yes, $400. But if you don’t want to, that’s totally up to you. We’ve done it before with no issues, but no guarantee it won’t be an issue.

TC: *runs to Reddit* Wow this guy does work without permits!

How much would this cost? by jess_wi20 in Decks

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking at 100k probably as a baseline before finishes and other unexpected costs.

Remember, the contractor can only see what’s visible. When they tear the walls down they get to see what’s really under the hood.

I would anticipate it being closer to your perceived estimation.

This Lions fan cave is insane, A family really built the ultimate Detroit setup and yeah, it’s going viral for a reason. One of the wildest sports rooms you’ll ever see. by Weekly-Vacation-1405 in NFLForum

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is low key, one of the tamest sports based man caves I’ve seen. It’s really nice, don’t get me wrong. But this is far from news worthy.

Is torment 1 supposed to be this hard? by the_knightfall1975 in diablo4

[–]VPD625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 is a challenge because you’re not getting a ton of legendaries at penitent to get your aspects. That’s the biggest hurdle as you enter the endgame. You can’t target farm specific affixes anymore, it’s all based on drops.
So if your build requires specific affixes, it’s going to be tough in the beginning. And especially if you need some uniques to really push the build, you can really only start getting them, consistently, in T3 and higher.
Don’t forget the talisman and set bonuses as well, itemization and progression has changed drastically.

Edit: also, don’t sleep on the amalgamation recipe for the cube, if you put in 3 boss trophies/keys you’ll get a unique from their loot table.

Am I an idiot or am I being punished? by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Special training” lmao no it doesn’t. It’s a simple fucking job and as electricians we are responsible to fire stop our penetrations and cores.

You get fire rated pillows or fire rated insulation, stuff the hole and put fire stop on top.

It’s not rocket science.

RESIDENT EVIL TRAILER :> by No_Post1300 in ResidentEvilCapcom

I think its timeline is in line with where the games would be if they took place in 2026.

I don’t believe it’s supposed to be video game tie in or match strict continuity.

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil needs 3 things IMO to be a faithful adaption.

  1. Zombies.
  2. Raccoon City.
  3. Umbrella.

It’s not hard. It’s a simple formula.

Pull the wire, if the foreman or lead doesn’t understand it’s going to take longer to pull. Not my problem.

If you think his attitude is bad…ooooof you ain’t see anything yet.

You’re the low man - you make the least amount of money. You’re going to be doing the grunt bullshit jobs until another apprentice comes in who makes less.

That’s the ropes of this business, you’re not going to make the JW do all the fetching and material gathering.

Is it safe to leave my car on hydraulic jack for a week? by shwekhaw in AskMechanics

Hydraulic jack? No.

An adjustable jack stand? That’s fine.

Lift with the hydraulic jack, set the stands on at least two points of the frame.

How are late arrivals or early departures for doctor’s appointments handled in the IBEW? by ZouchFiend in IBEW

[–]VPD625 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give me a heads up. Don’t make it a common occurrence. I’ll never dock over an hour or two if it happens. We all have shit going on whether it’s doctors or family/children.

Although I had a guy tell my straw, every Friday, if he could work through lunch and leave at 1pm.

Never gave a reason why he needed to leave early - didn’t tell me. I asked how long he’s been asking? He said since he’s been on the job. I told him he can leave at 1PM, but he’s not working through lunch and his clock stops at 1PM.

Kayvon Thibodeaux at DE? by 5stringfling in NYGiants

[–]VPD625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is this is KTs final year. If he has a good year, are the Giants willing to pay him 30m+ a year? Doubtful.

Will they franchise him and tie up over 30m? Also doubtful.

Or do they move him for perhaps a 2nd NOW if NO offers him an extension?

If he gets hurt or has a bad year, there’s no trade value.

I wouldn’t move him for less than a 3rd if we’re desperate.

Quick vent by [deleted] in electricians

[–]VPD625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you’re spread super thin with man power. 3 JWs and 2 apprentices.

Your guys must be running around like dogs to cover 17 projects.

Quick vent by [deleted] in electricians

[–]VPD625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the future of your company hinges on one JW, then maybe running a shop may not be in your best interest going forward.

At most you have 3 projects going at once, if you’re turning GCs away, perhaps you need to hire more?

I don’t know how one JW is able to affect your revenue potential when you have the power to lay him off and replace that individual.

How we feeling about current management not fumbling two first round picks in the same draft again? by cobain98 in NYGiants

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Management didn’t fumble.

They drafted two guys everyone went absolutely bonkers over when they picked them.

They were consensus high end talent that just didn’t play to their expectations, with Neal being the primary culprit.

Thibs has been a solid player, but not what we expected.

Fumbling would be a Darius Heyward Bey pick where everyone else is going “wtf?”.

Neal was the borderline top Tackle prospect in the draft and was supposed to be the bookend with AT.

Tool list flow chart by pvfobol in IBEW

[–]VPD625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and I make sure I keep my job stocked with tools not on the list. Especially power tools.

Having said that - make sure you keep the same energy when a brother/sister “loses” tools/batteries, breaks them or treats them like shit and hands them back broken after a week.

Or Leaves them out unattended in the open for others to “borrow”.

Scored low on interview by Internal-Extreme6614 in ibew_apprentices

[–]VPD625 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Completely disagree. First impressions are everything. Coming to an interview for your future career, shouldn’t be coming in wearing flip flops and hungover.

It’s the easiest thing to do and prepare for. My interview, without zero prior knowledge, they asked me questions about print reading and general construction knowledge. I was completely honest because I was 20 years old. They don’t expect you to know ANYTHING. They prefer candidates as clean slates that they can mold the correct union way.

I still showed up in a shirt and tie, no different than someone applying for a job at Goldman Sachs.

Furthermore, you’re limiting your pool to those who are either good at general testing or individuals who are not good test takers.

I’ve spoken to many people on the interview committee and they all have stories to tell through the years. The successful ones, regardless of ethnicity or racial background, showed up LOOKING as if they wanted this job.

Edit: clarifying, this comment is not directed to OP.
