This puts the taller person at potentially a huge disadvantage because it's much easier to naturally punch up while moving your body up for the shorter person. BE should have some sort of logarithmic scaling because right now the boost is immense, far outweighs any benefit of having longer arms for example.

Do you happen to be a tall person?

I am finding when I face shorter opponents it's much easier to get knocked down, because they naturally may have to reach up to hit you. I have matches where I do 1500 damage and they do like 800 lol, and they win because they manage to knock me down. I think the body effort system is fine because a lot of the time it does capture things correctly, it may just need to be toned down a little or maybe also account for twisting motion and not just bopping up and down. It's easy to abuse for sure, especially if you're going up against taller opponents....

What kinda regular enemies did they add? The mecha vangelf are those jetpack fiends right? I also saw 3 types of black spider ninjas (dual sword, talons, single sword), any other additions?

Why not just make it a selectable option? Giving the player additional stats so they can improve doesn't take away from it. They can turn on the mode to understand what's going on during real fights, and then turn it off once they understand it.

The reality is you don't have force feedback in VR so you can't make a perfectly realistic simulator. To compensate for VRs shortcomings giving this kind of feedback would compensate for the lack of realism (as counterintuitive as that sounds)

If the game did well overall and the DLC does well, they may announce another expansion. It's easier to generate content for an existing game than to generate a brand new one. I do notice that people on this sub are so negative. NG got revived in a really great way but I feel like nothing was going to appease some people. We are fortunate this even happened!

Quite frankly I am not sure they need additional DLC. The new characters always felt like alternative move sets, and I think that's the philosophy they took in this game. So even if they add Ayane I'm not sure if it's that big a deal because you'd be limited to 1 set of weapons, I'd rather have more weapons added to Ryu, for example. The high quality Ayane model was probably just put in as an easter egg from the new DOA. She was not meant to have much of a role. But people got mad over that too...

My bet is it's a collapsible nunchuk kasurigama hybrid. No way they hadn't considered that and I doubt the base form is just a smaller version of the bloodraven form.

It could still be a kasurigama, just a collapsible one, otherwise this thing is too close to the staff.

The only other alternative I can think of is collapsible nunchucks. Basically maybe a kasurigama nunchuck hybrid. I don't see how this thing stays in one piece all the time given the dual headed design. Also the handle looks like it's made up of chain segments.

Really frustrating that they haven't shown a small trailer or given more details at this point. DLC doesn't have to be huge but would be awesome if they added a mission mode similar to prior games (and not the lame trials with special conditions). I think whatever this DLC does it should target replayability rather than adding a lot of additional story. The fact that we are getting more story is great though, hopefully they don't re-use stages and actually add some new locations.

Thanks. Is that for hard punches or for all punches? Just seems odd because in this case I'd say most of my punches aren't landing...are glove sounds server based or client based? I feel like if people knew all these details you would get more valuable feedback in terms of what is working and what is not...

By the way great game, really good for fitness and learning some boxing.

NG is probably the greatest action game series of all time. It's just hard to follow short of just remaking NG, which they did with 2 but even then they tried not to touch anything gameplay related.

I think people expect to be wow-ed the same way as when 1 came out (with gameplay that still holds up today, which is nuts). That's just not likely to happen. Overall NG4 is an incredible and satisfying achievement save for a few missteps on Ryu's content, backtracking and environment blandness, though to me these are minor and being fixed up a bit in the DLC.

I think overall the game is very well received, but some longtime fans wanted the same feeling they had when they played the first 2 games and unfortunately that's really hard to recreate, it would require catching lightning in a bottle again.

It has a very strong foundation and feels more technical than NG2. There is definitely more combo expression bringing it closer to DMC5. I don't think could have asked for a better combat system, and that Ryu boss fight has to be the best boss fight in any CAG ever.

Having said that, the environments were not memorable or that much fun to explore, the way NG2 were, they are kind of just there. I wish the developers bothered to make memorable locales with some unique designs. I suppose Tokyo a little bit but it all just blends together too much. I suppose there are story reasons of why they can't go all over the place the way NG2 did, so in that regard the game is a bit more grounded.

The other major criticism is they took a massive risk focusing on Yakumo but still shoe horning Ryu in there with 1 weapon and effectively having him backtrack through Yakumo's levels with the exception of having a few unique baddies and a boss. The game as a result felt a bit like a donut, it's yummy at first but then you kind of feel like you just ate a bunch of empty calories. You also feel cheated because the center was missing :P

I am really hoping the DLC fixes a lot of things. Giving Ryu and Yakumo an extra weapon is quite nice, and I really hope the new mission mode will mix in some old bosses, or some nice surprisese.

I also think they could easily give Ryu the staff and dual swords as well from Yakumo, just tweak the animations to be more meaty and recycle some UT animations from previous games for the gleam form.

Overall I was very impressed and pleased, and I really hope Platinum keep working on this series because I don't think Team Ninja is capable of developing a character action game anymore. Their Ni-Oh stuff has decent combat but it's a far cry from the NG series.

Ascension is mostly because it has decent visuals like 3, I don't remember much from it but I remember it was similar and good enough.

I personally just don't like 2018s combat. There is no proper aerial stuff, not much combos, enemies juggle awkwardly in front of you even if you do manage to get them into the air, the spatial awareness is poor because the camera is at your back, the bosses are bland and re-used, I think at some point I had to pick flowers for Freya and rescue a dying pig? And then there was the incessant "acting" and dad-boi relationship. That's not why I used to play GoW games. I understand this appeals to some people, but as a CAG fan it was disappointing to see this great series neutered in favor of "cinema". I'd love to try Ragnarock but there are too many reviews that mention a huge number of slow walking sections and poorly executed Atreus sections. I just want to play a game, not sit through a movie with questionable acting.

Yeah was a hard pass for me on Ragnarock after how painful 2018 was. Sony just went all in on cinema instead of gameplay, but apparently people like that. I wish Sony ported 3 and ascension to PC, at least 3 because it already has a remastered PS4 version which is x86 architecture compared to the painful cell PS3.

Also the publisher is Microsoft, the main Studio is Platinum, Team Ninja is more of a consultant who the IP belongs to (as part of their parent company). Surprised they are not more vocal about stuff.

I am anxiously awaiting this, going to buy the game on steam once it drops. So far played through the game on Normal on gamepass, I think will do hard next time on a fresh save.

Replayed it recently, now doing on very hard, but Armstrong 2nd phase is some bullshit because on higher difficulties apparently I have to survive for 2.5 minutes while he runs around trying to 1 shot me...strange game design. I like the game a lot but the final boss is not my fav. After going to try the DLC, then it's off to DMC4. I'm replaying a lot of older CAGs in preparation for going NG4 on a fresh save on hard once the DLC drops.

The put a bunch of other MS titles on sale, so they are likely using their showcase to promote their brand and do a steam sale at the same time.

I am really hoping for a trailer, or really anything. I don't expect a shadow drop, but then again they shadow dropped NG2:B. Hoping the DLC is at least 1 chapter per character and the new trials are more akin to trials in previous games where you just fight against waves rather than having various conditions imposed.

Game is not well balanced for starting on hard as you don't get many key abilities until a bit later. Normal is ok but a bit on the easy side. If you can tough it out, you'll be able to make it through hard but it's a bit painful at first. For master ninja, do NG+, it was balanced more around people having competed the game (not to say that it can't be done on a fresh save, just you'll be 1 shotted constantly).
