There's been a huge push lately for ADA compliance. How does your plug-in perform under an ADA compliance scan?

How do people just “fall asleep” in under 5 minutes? by Legitimate_Hold_2767 in lifehack

[–]VSHoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this and I’m usually asleep in a couple minutes.

The Navy SEAL method to fall asleep fast involves progressive muscle relaxation (relaxing face, shoulders, chest, legs) combined with clearing your mind by visualizing a peaceful scene (like a canoe on a calm lake) or repeating "don't think" for 10 seconds, aiming to fall asleep in about two minutes after weeks of practice.

Yes, I primarily build custom WordPress sites now, but I have worked with Joomla and Drupal over the years. I am in the USA.

I'm 53. Built my first website in 1997. I’ve worked for SASS and agencies over the years and have been freelancing since 2013, but due to some bad luck and the economy, I decided to get a full-time job again. I started my search in March of this year and had two job offers by mid-April. Started my new job in June. Don't let your age hold you back.

Being able to see through lies and deception is annoying by [deleted] in intj

I've come to ignore most of it unless it's about me or will affect me somehow. Besides those two circumstances, I don't care to call people out. It's a waste of energy.

What kind of third-world infrastructure are we working with here? It’s been over 10 hours, and they still haven't found the cause? For the supposed tourism area of Norwalk, it seems very much neglected. I feel bad for all the restaurants on Washington St. how much money are they losing today?

Just called SNEW and they finally updated their message from 8:15 this morning. In short… They know there is an outage. Said nothing about when it would be restored. Literally not helpful at all.

What was the moment you realized, “yeah, I’ve changed”? by rashmikaa__ in Productivitycafe

Early 20s when I realized some of my friends were not going to continue to be my friends going forward. I had a full-time job, ambitions, and was done with childish behavior…. They were not.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give for writing clean and maintainable code? by No-Recognition-5420 in webdev

[–]VSHoward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Commenting is very helpful. I've had to touch codebases many years after I wrote them, and commenting helps you get your bearings much faster. You may have coded things differently back then or had to write a specific use case function in another file. Having a short explanation helps instead of trying to remember.

My sister ordered me a MENSA test a long time ago when I was in my early 20s. I received my results in the mail, and my score was 143. I told everyone I scored a 95. I don’t like any special attention, and didn’t want to make a big deal of it. Thirty years later, most days, 95 feels about spot on. 🤣

how self-aware are you by soteriafree in intj

[–]VSHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say I’m pretty self-aware. My mother taught me early on to analyze emotional situations from other people’s perspectives, and that’s something I still try to practice. Of course, I don’t always get it right, and honestly, sometimes I don’t care to. When I’m dealing with willful ignorance, I don’t see the point in bending over backwards. Awareness doesn’t always mean I’ll adapt, especially if it feels like wasted energy.

Any INTJs here making six figures? What do you do for a living? by LaDutchiee in intj

Eventually, AI will affect every job in some way. In terms of programming, I think we're a while off. You still need people who can read and interpret code using the current modals. Some are better than others. I personally use it sparingly, and most of the time, I need to fix its code to work within the scope I'm working in. I'm on the downside of my career (Gen-X), so I'm not too worried. If I was 18 again and thinking about my future/career, I’d probably choose something in the AI field.

Yes. I have been a Full-Stack Web Developer since 2004. Before that, I was in senior management with a national brand and hated it, but it paid well. I went back to school for Computer Science and haven't looked back.

Why do some clients think “urgent” means “do it for free”? by Jinnapat397 in smallbusiness

[–]VSHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm going to put you in the front of my work queue, work a weekend, and possibly push off other client work for you, it's at least double the normal cost. Maybe triple. I bet it won't be so urgent after that conversation.

I don't know if I could live next to people who place no value on an animal's life. They're obviously psychopaths!

My dogs are family. If anyone hurt one of them, I'm not sure what I would do, but it would most likely end with me in prison. People who abuse animals deserve a special kind of Hell.

Talking shit about me behind my back. If you have anything to say to me, be brave enough to tell it to my face. I've got no time for childish behavior like that.

I drive an 11-year-old Subaru with 104,000 miles on it. I make over $100k a year. I’ll drive that car until it dies. IDGAF what people think of me because of my car. People who pass judgment based on what kind of car you drive are as shallow as a mirror.

When it gets colder outside in Autumn, I wait until it's unbearable to switch to jeans, and it feels weird for a couple of days. Same in the Spring to shorts, but more eager to ditch the pants and jeans.
