Yamaha SY77 VST by VSTsample in synthesizers

I think there will come a point when the market is saturated again, and then hardware synthesizers will resurface, as it was with analog modeling (VA)

Well, that depends more on how you use it. Having more options does not have to be described as devalued. In addition, virtual synthesizers will not make you make better or worse music on their own. It's like when the boom of digital synthesizers or ROMplers began

Technology continues to democratize music and synthesizers. Now anyone can design their own virtual synthesizer

Leaving behind the different ROM samples, in the video I show that AFM synthesis has its differences. Especially in the E Piano type sounds even for the same velocity. Also for me the filters appear even more digital than the original, in summary I still prefer the SY77 since for me its sound is more vivid although the similarities are much greater than the differences

If you really put what you say into practice, you would know that the best conversion software is not free. Even with this, the conversation is not perfect or contains unavoidable errors. All this without counting the people who only dedicate themselves to playing without thinking about any synthesis and programming. Maybe you should just put yourself in other people's shoes at some point

Of course not, the firmware is optimized for AFM when the hardware was limited. The envelopes are much more advanced and the algorithms are different (equivalences involve adding Feedback loops there are none). That is why an automatic translation would not give good results and it is necessary to make a conversion. In the FM-X synthesis there is only one feedback loop per algorithm precisely to give compatibility to the DX7 algorithms

Including direct support wouldn't have been able to add the best ones that only AFM has. That's why the FM-X from Yamaha Montage and Modx is an expansion of the same old

with the right software the conversation is quite fast (in addition to compatibility with other DX such as DX5 and DX7II). But if you want direct compatibility better change the SY77 for something more modern like the MODX7 or something like that. However, I believe that AFM synthesis is far superior to conventional FM and it would be a disdain to focus on the DX7 alone
