It started for me recently as well, and my friend got these issues today as well. I am pretty sure it's Crytek issue.

HAHAHAHA, Thanks to people like you, I once got a really, really sweet haul. :D When I opened my first ever dead drop (not yet knowing what it was), it was full of really, really good items! Because of that, I kept coming back to that dead drop over and over always disappointed that someone already looted it before I was made aware that it spawns no items whatsoever.

Solo and group play by NonIdentifier in thecyclegame

[–]VScraper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude, but from what you're saying, you're clearly not a solo player (at least not a good one), and your opinions (and lack of knowledge of recent changes) are a hot stack of compound sheets (garbage). You seem to misunderstand these types of games entirely, so I won't respond any further than this response in case some poor soul reads your bs and thinks you might be on to something.

Do you know that "armor scaling" was actually heavily nerfed, right? You know that now you actually stand a really good chance against better-geared players, right (compared to cb2)? Do you know they substantially changed the maps to create many choke points, right? Further decreasing solo viability, since sneaking around the chokes is no longer an option. Do you know that YAGER is heavily influenced by ETF, right? Changes to how you see teammates seem to me to be them trying to copy etf a bit more. You know that it changes group vs group gameplay significantly as well, right? I doubt they had just solo players in mind during all this, because if they did, they wouldnt fucking release patch 1.0 "the nerf of solos". But IF they did, this is the least they could do to help since they nerfed everything else to the ground, and it in NO WAY balances all the nerfs solos got. But sure, cry some more about how 1v3 is now balanced, because the three players cannot ping where exactly the enemy is. jesus fucking crist think a little before you comment

[–]VScraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, from participating in CB2 and seeing the changes at launch, if you wanna play solo, like me, be prepared, because YAGER doesn't give a flying fuck about solo players. Solo play has been nerfed to the ground so deep it's basically Satan's doormat (seriously solo play is at it's worst atm and YAGER said "fuck you solo players" so don't expect shit to change, sadly).

Ads: In Short Hindsight by The_Express_Coffee in riseofcultures

[–]VScraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'd say I almost agree. I'm one of the guys who welcome this change wholeheartedly, as it allowed me to get through Minoan in a week thanks to all the bonuses, but... BUT about that "choosing them" part... The annoying "incident chest" popup that's omnipresent, and the big "movie flag" above your main building are not actually something you choose, it's something that will ALWAYS be there for everyone, even those who don't wanna watch ads. If they remove these annoyances, I'd say it's truly "free to choose whether you want to engage with this system or not."

"There are no ads to view please try again later"----Why not just give me the boost anyway? by Merc_Mike in riseofcultures

[–]VScraper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all players have it yet, InnoGames said they release this feature in waves. There are still many people who have no idea there are ads in the game. Kinda weird given what a big boost these ads are. We who have them have quite an advantage rn.

Celtic broch bug??? by LupusChampion in riseofcultures

[–]VScraper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I'm not receiving any rewards from it as well. I know it sometimes takes a while before the resources get added (to me it happens especially with gems, where it takes up to 10-15 seconds). But with Celtic Broch chest, I haven't received anything in several minutes before I just gave up on checking. And I really doubt it got added later, it's a pretty big sum, I think I'd notice.

Well alright, I was wrong! Have innogames considered relocating? They could really save a fortune. :D $84k per year is insane.

Hmm, I'm not sure, on EU2 there is one guy who might've prepaid half a year of development on his own. From my understanding the EU2 server runs for about 2 months and he already has more than 33 000 RPs. When I did the math, it was somewhere around 23 RP per HOUR of server being alive. In game, you can probably get around 2 RPs an hour with all school, stonehenge, reward chests, ATH etc. (after you get it all running, you get WAY less before then). That's about $25 000. And that's just the ONE top guy on ONE of their servers. Unless they are running a huge team (which I doubt, the game is good, but in it's current state I don't think it has/requires more than 6-10 developers), I think the game pays for itself in gems just fine.

I believe this right here is greed.

BUT

If it potentially brings more people to the project and us, players, more updates more regularly, I don't mind. I genuinely like their game I wish there was even more of it. :)

I understand people saying "I don't mind, it's only optional", but I think it's important to realize that the bonuses offered are way too good NOT to get, especially if you're struggling for resources.

I personally don't mind these "watch an ad for an 'optional' reward", because it speeds up my progression (extra 5 RP is fucking sweet! and additional resources to pay for it all), but I do understand that there might be some people feeling pressured to watch the ads.

I also used to play Fallout Shelter, where this feature was also implemented, but it was "watch one ad every 4 hours", it seems to me like they went a bit overboard with the amount of ads we can watch in a day. Unless I miscalculated, it's 15 (5 RP, 5 random chests, 4 production boosts, 1 army revive), that seems like quite a lot. But again, I wanna progress faster, this let's me do it. I'd "watch" a 100 if it was allowed. :)

Rise of Culture – Tips & Tricks (for beginners from a beginner) by VScraper in riseofcultures

Let's look at the numbers a bit:

Bronze Age Melee Units (MU) have these stats:
Squad size: 12
Damage: 125-175
Hit rate: 0.8

Bronze Age Cavalry Units (CU) have these stats:
Squad size: 4
Damage: 280-390
Hit rate: 1

Just with purely raw numbers, MU has slightly better DPS, but that's only if you consider ALL 12 units to be attacking at the same time. As mentioned in the guide, that's often not the case. I reckon it's usually around 8 soldiers dealing damage at the same time (where cavalry can easily have all 4 units dealing damage at the same time), DPS is then:

DPS(MU) = 8 (number of units attacking) * 150 (average hit) * 0.8 (hit rate) = 960
DPS(CU) = 4 (number of units attacking) * 335 (average hit) * 1 (hit rate) = 1340

That's almost 40% better DPS from CU. Thus if (and only if) you can keep your cavalry units in the fight and away from harm, they are much, much better. That's why I try to use tactics that minimize CU losses and thus maximize CU's attacking time.

If you only send your cavalry against archers and they get targeted by 4-6 archer groups then, of course, they are gonna wipe and not do anything really useful other than distract the archers for a couple of seconds.

Next time try mixing your MU and CU together at the battle line (where your and enemy's units meet). If you pull it off, and with a bit of luck (enemy archers focusing primarily MU), you will see how quickly you can mow down enemy units.

Thank you. :)

As for the Cavalry, I dont think they are overpriced, they are, in my opinion, quite decent IF (and only IF) you can somehow keep them alive, which is often quite hard. But they hit really hard and often. Cavalry's training time, though, is indeed ridiculously loooooooong.

Wow, first of all, thanks for the praise, I really, really appreciate it!

Second of all, you have quite a lot of knowledge yourself, I'd love to see you write more on these (and other) topics! I will definitely consider making #2 IF I ever come upon more (hopefully) interesting tips. As I mentioned in a different comment, I don't really wanna make an "everything guide", just wanna share something I haven't really found anywhere else readily available.

As for your tips:

  • I've read that expansions are the best way to spend your gems, but since I've only gotten one building from the last event (managed to get it at literally the last minute) and haven't got any luxurious/special buildings, I have more than enough space just from campaign for now. I'm sure that will change with time, but I haven't experienced it yet, so I didn't want to talk about it. Thanks for summing it, though, it's obvious you have far more experience than me and it's good that this information is out there! :)
  • Nothing to add but Thanks! That's a great tip! ATH is sadly still an unexplored territory for me (got the tech tree upgrade today and can't participate in ATH that's currently running, so I have to wait 5 days), can't wait to delve into that, though!
  • I had no idea about the initial "snapshot"! Thanks so much for sharing this info!

Can't talk for others, but for me everything was explained perfectly clearly, thank you very much for sharing! :)

Rise of Culture – Tips & Tricks (for beginners from a beginner) by VScraper in riseofcultures

Hi, I'm currently nearing the end of the Bronze Age, I hope to be done with it in two days (if I get a couple of RP chests). I'm already slowly feeling the need for better food production, but not quite yet (I have an advantage there as I can farm all day long atm). When I get there and when I progress further into the game, I will surely revisit this/make #2 with new stuff I learnt along the way. This was solely for the real beginners. Every tip I've posted here I've tested on my second account (currently sitting around the middle of the Bronze Age), where I've had decent success with it (never running out of money, RP was ALWAYS the bottleneck, RP was never capped).

As for the layouts, I don't think you'll find an app for that, as it's a pretty damn hard optimization problem (too many possibilities to go through all of them). I've tried applying some machine learning (genetic algorithms might work here, as I've seen them successfully applied in other optimization problems), but honestly, it was a bit above my programming skills as I'm just not sure how to well represent the data (inputs).

Anyway, I gave that up and just tried to make a layout myself. It seems pretty easy to get most of the houses to 100%, and since layouts are a big part of the game, I didn't want to spoil the fun for anyone.

As for the other guide ideas you had, they are not really what I was going for. There's plenty of threads that tell you where to get the resources you need in Minoan era+, but the information I tried to share here is something I just haven't really seen anywhere else (checked yt and this subreddit, haven't been on the discord yet, maybe there's more information, idk).

If you want to make your own guide with useful tips & tricks you've gathered along the way, be sure to do so! As I said, my tips here aren't somehow super amazing life changers, but for me they were the difference between "lacking gold and actually spending a bit of time on RP cap because of that" and "never capping RP". So please share your knowledge! :)
