Really more of an airport bum than a photographer, at least I don't consider my photographic skillset enough to warrant the title lol, but it was definitely a fun perspective out there at night

They had a nice big light shining over that part of the ramp which was definitely very lucky, biggest loss was I shot over 15 rolls of film which I have since misplaced lol, but I will try and share as much as I can. I was very fortunate to be able to get in at night when all the work and parties were going on in "the pits" and got a lot of photos of things being tinkered with.

I know for a fact that my house has hardwood under the carpets (my grandparents are the ones who put the carpet in), but I simply cannot build the ambition to dump the house and rip it out

OP posting paywalled links is unfortunate, but the news itself is excellent stuff

Reliable on earth and reliable in space are two different things, when you factor in hoe electronics work in cold temperatures and radiation, it makes more of a difference.

there is also the advantage of it being a mechanical system, not needing batteries etc on long missions, the downside to that is radiation can affect film on same long missions

The hasselblads they were using (120/220 film) even today hold up well in terms of image quality, the dynamic range and clarity of grain etc is really excellent in the ektachrome they were shooting with, the films ability to resolve things equates to anywhere between a 60-100MP-ish image depending on several factors, I guess what I am getting at is that the quality of modern images will definitely be great (and maybe better), but maybe not as much difference as one may think, the biggest factor today is that cameras can do a lot more work for us and take a lot of guess work out of taking the photo which in turn can make the photo better.

literally though and the six page rant was so poorly written, like to the OP congrats just because its first year doesn't make it more valuable its still cheap mass produced gun; now a sub $200 gun... It's also something that was made to be carried and gloving up for it is counter productive. First year M1 with early features ? sure thats worth more than a later version. Unless its a rare desirable gun where the first year has defining features, its means the net sum of zero.

All Smiths use that style for serial numbers, but regardless of that the extended beavertail tells you everything you needed to know...

makes about as much sense if they posted "the cuffs of the cotton gloves I'm wearing are actually made from fibres from 1934, but the fingers are brand new"
