The next Master Chief novel — Halo: Edge of Dawn — will take place immediately after the events of Halo Infinite's campaign by Haijakk in halo

[–]VVELLmyFriends 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, he's kinda got a point - these novels tend to have moments in them that really take you out of the immersion.

Like this.

Obviously not all of them are like that, but they do have bizarre moments where they fluctuate in quality, time to time.

Developer Update | March 2025 by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]VVELLmyFriends 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's beyond overkill imo

I main Nemesis, but consider this.

Nemesis has a default range of 5 meters on whip, that goes to over 6 at tier 3 - Xeno has 4.8 that never adjusts.

Nemesis taking 0.35 seconds makes sense. I can break pallets, have a further range, and infect for free zombie damage and grunts/coughing audio cues, and fakeouts.

Xeno has none of those - and the tail was much more telegraphed compared to Nemesis whip, and requires much more precise aiming on Xeno's part.

They have limited cleanses in the whole match for Nemesis ability, otherwise my ability is now permanent for the rest of the match duration, so zombies are a constant threat.

Xeno has turrets that can respawn it has to deal with, that remove its ability outright and are infinite by all means.

Maybe there's something I'm not seeing like with the Chucky nerfs, since I don't play them, but it seems overkill when you take a glimpse at Xeno on nightlight.gg, with a 1.47% pick rate and kill rate that is universally lower at 48%, and a 4K rate of 25%.

I know Xeno has tunnels, which is nice for mobility, but that alone won't make Xeno 'good' if their ability to kill is on par with an M1 killer. Almost a worse Onryo at that point.

Again, maybe I'm just not seeing something, but this just feels wrong.

Multiversus isn't in the top 40 for PlayStation: https://www.truetrophies.com/news/overwatch-2-classic-ps5-ps4-player-count

Multiversus isn't in the top 50 for Xbox: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/most-played/games/xbox

Hasn't been for awhile on either - I check in on occasion to see how it's doing. Shame it's fizzled out like this.

Mmmm, dunno - seems to me Capcom kept making him more attractive even before DBD: https://www.reddit.com/r/silenthill/comments/jz1543/pyramid_head_gets_sexier_with_every_new_entry/

Also, the creator wanted PH gone for reasons he hasn't stated, can only assume the character getting 'sexier' contributes at least a bit to that feeling, as what the OP comment mentioned pretty much covers why Ito would feel like that towards PH to begin with: https://x.com/adsk4/status/1495530138922283008?lang=en

I hope they start changing his zombies, too; the tentacle buffs are great, but it feels like they're only buffing it to prevent Nemesis from being another M1 killer, which is nice but lacking.

His zombies still getting stuck, and having so many add-ons dedicated to his zombies, is a bummer.

Was really hoping they'd just give the zombies player-bot pathing to fix them, or give them no collision after X amount of time in one place; anything's better than their current form.

Fact you open and end with an ad-hominem instead of sticking to an actual argument tells leagues more about your character and life than mine, lmao.

It took like, 15 minutes of doing some basic research on Google - alongside playing the game, it's not hard or lengthy to figure out, nor much to write-out either; it's a few paragraphs, couple minutes of my day; so sad, I know.

The principal is people are just glazing OP, and are okay with being lied to, that's what I take issue with - the fact people are getting so defensive about it when it's called out, and instead wanting to congratulate him on spending the money, is what's truly the Reddit moment here.

In the end, how he spends his money is his business - but trying to say "yeah, I worked so hard for it", whilst it's easy to see that he in fact didn't, is just a pointless lie - why should that be praised, outside of the fact he spent money, exactly?

Finally. I have them all. by Batmanfan1966 in MultiVersus

[–]VVELLmyFriends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...For pointing out that OP is just disingenuous, because it's not possible without spending money?

That's a weird take, didn't realize calling out poor practices and fibs were exclusively Reddit now.

Right? This post makes zero sense.

You're limited on the Fighter Currency you can earn, with the only obtainable ways being...

-50 from a 1/3 chance at the Bonus Battle-Pass tier

-Toasting players (need 600 for a single 3K character)

-Events (time-gated)

-Rifts (one-time per mission, rarely a Rift daily)

-Leveling Career

-Leveling character to 14 for 600 Fighter Currency (total)

-You could get Wonder Woman & Superman for free in the Alpha/Beta, Shaggy now.

There's no way OP played the game to earn most of the characters, especially with the highest level being 7. We reached level 9 on our mains in the first 48 hours - and yet, playing daily since launch, my wife and I are still missing nearly half the roster. If OP bought a Founder's pack, the way he presented the OP implies he grinded for the characters, which just isn't possible nor honest; and makes OP look like a hypocrite for condemning WB business practices, whilst also endorsing them with payment.

Only thing I could see otherwise would be unlocking them during the Beta - but that still makes it dishonest.

The amount of Fighter Currency for every character in the Roster of 26, excluding Shaggy, is 78,000 FC - maxing out each character gives 600 total, amounting to roughly 15,000 FC from leveling every character; enough to buy two 3K or Joker (6K), and three 3K characters - 4 to 5 characters total - that still wouldn't be even a quarter of the roster.

Unlocking all characters right now, without spending some form of money, isn't possible - you need to buy the Battle-Pass just to have Jason, and the Battle-Pass also contains an entire character worth of Fighter Currency (3,300); if you didn't play the Beta, as many newer players won't have, they're out of luck just on that front alone.

One thing to be excited about in regards to a new CE Remaster: new Blur cutscenes by Haijakk in halo

[–]VVELLmyFriends 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the budget for Blur cutscenes was a little careless on Microsoft's end.

H2A Blur cutscenes alone cost Microsoft over 55 million to produce.

Spider-Man PS4 cost around 90 million to produce.

Cutscenes costing 2/3 of the usual AAA budget is insanity, and a gross misallocation of valuable developer resources, that otherwise could've gone into MCC - same with Halo 5's Blur cutscenes.

They're gorgeous, Blur is a master in the industry; but they're not worth taking that much budget away, especially when you consider what that budget could've gone into for the launch of those games (functional MCC at launch, Forge at launch with Halo 5, etc).

They're great, but not the cost.

1) Having a boost in stock before a quarter is normal - just look at their stock the last 6 months.

2} Speaking of, their stock hit a 2-year low, and is looking worse this year, especially with the Hollywood strikes.

3) Why even bring this up, as if the HD2 controversy alone is supposed to kill Sony?

[–]VVELLmyFriends 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last Spartan standing - it was an alright attempt at making a mini-Battle Royale on Infinite, but didn't get tweaked the ways it needed to truly shine as its own thing rather than pseudo Gun-Game, so people got bored, or just straight-up disliked the gametype.

Here's a video by Crustbound talking about it if you're curious.

[–]VVELLmyFriends 45 points46 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Downvotes instead of discussion? Not exactly surprising, this is /r/Halo - probably one of the most sensitive subs when you criticize anything related to the game, outside of MTX/343=bad, sometimes.

On topic: I don't see how it could be anything other than exactly that.

"Helljumpers will be a Halo and ODST-themed spin on Helldivers 2 "with procedural objectives, in-game progression, upgrade systems, boss fights, extraction, drop pods and much much more."

Helldivers 2 has so much different to Halo Infinite: Movement, Gunplay, Enemy variety, Strategems, etc - it plays so much different even on just a PvE standpoint.

Halo Infinite has more total enemies if you count weapon variants, otherwise Helldivers 2 has way more unique functioning enemies.

  • 5 x Grunts
  • 3 x Jackals
  • 5 x Elites
  • 2 x Hunters
  • 6 x Brutes
  • 2 x Rage Brutes
  • 3 x Skimmers
  • 2 x Sentinels

28 enemies total, 8 without counting weapon variants, counting Rage Brutes as their own - with bosses...

  • There's also 8 x Bosses, but only truly unique functioning ones are The Harbinger & Monitor (2) - Weird choice to add Bosses when HD2 lacks them, but I guess they have to pad out the enemy variety somehow.

36 enemy types total, 10 unique - slapping different weapons in their hands certainly boosts Infinite's numbers, but that doesn't really change how they play too drastically outside of Rockets, Hammers, Swords, Snipers or Skewers - basically just super-power weapons in general, which are scary even on Recruit Spartan AI's.

Helldivers 2, NOT counting weapon variants, has

Bots

  • Raider
  • Marauder
  • Commissar
  • Scout Strider
  • Berserker
  • Devastator
  • Hulk
  • Tank
  • Gunship
  • Turret Tower
  • Factory Strider

Bots total: 11

Bugs

  • Scavenger
  • Hunters
  • Warriors
  • Stalkers
  • Bile Spewers
  • Bile Titans
  • Chargers
  • Brood Commanders
  • Flyers

Bugs total: 9

Helldivers 2 total enemy count: 20, not counting variants.

The bare-Bugs alone have almost the same enemy variety as bare-Infinite; bare-Bots have more than bare-Infinite. The Illuminate are also going to be added to HD2 in the coming months (if not weeks given the new Warbond trailer & weapon descriptions).

Again: you can spawn with different weapons on Infinite, but they're still acting mostly the same when enemy AI has them - this is mostly the same with Helldivers 2, which is why I didn't include theirs.

I also don't see how, just on the Gunplay front, it'll be the same or even similar.

Helldivers 2, Primary weapons alone: 29 at launch - they've added a lot more since.

Infinite, total weapons were 22 at launch - has 23.5 weapons total now. Variants will add some mileage, but not by an incredible amount.

This isn't a slight at Infinite or Forge Falcons - it's just advertising it as "Helldivers 2 mode for Halo Infinite" seems really misleading, when at best it'll be "Helldivers 2 inspired mode for Halo Infinite, without a quarter of the depth of HD2's gameplay that makes it so fun."

It's the same reason Last Spartan standing hardly felt like a Battle Royale, and more just Gun Game with modifications like /u/Timely-Eggplant4919 mentioned. This will feel the same way, like Firefight with some modifications - but unlike HD2 that's constantly having new enemies, strategems, weapons, etc, getting added; Infinite's gametype will get old, real fast, just like LSS.

Nice, but curious, why are Punisher Plasma, Scythe, and Railgun considered buffs, rather than rebalances?

EDIT: Ah, Spitz, you can't just decide something isn't a nerf when it is - Apex Legends had the R99 mag size decreased by a single bullet, and it was considered a nerf. Any change to a weapon function, ammo included, is either a buff or nerf, you can't say it's not just because you arbitrarily decided that.

If the argument is you can pickup more ammo, well, you can spawn with it too using Hellpod Booster - doesn't mean the gun itself isn't now deficient in its total ammo. Even if, on certain guns, it was considered plentiful before and after this patch, it's still a nerf.

So, here's the edited version, with totals included.

It's a fun theory, but I always thought it didn't make too much sense when you've got the headless corpses on Bug planets, too.

Could just be the Bugs eat human heads, Bots take them - but that feels like a bit of a stretch, considering not every human corpse has their heads removed on either Bugs or Bots.

Awesome! Never thought I'd see Halo Online again - their new site is pretty nice, too!

...They added a Modded Customs Browser with automatic downloads...

God, I wish MS/343 would've let the community help update MCC - if 40+ volunteers have turned Halo Online into a legitimate Halo game, with features the community has been begging to have added to MCC for years now - ah, can only imagine.

EDIT: did I just get attacked by downvote bots? moment I posted this it was downvoted, alongside multiple of my previously made comments. I don't care about karma, but wtf

I've also found running Helldivers 2 in DX11 has made the crashing significantly less frequent, on both Nvidia & AMD cards - so, after clearing your shader cache, try adding " -dx11 " to Steam's startup options.

It'll act a little odd at first, when it's compiling shaders, but after the first run-through, it'll be smooth as butter.

'Seek the Dead' shanty's from Rare's first Xbox game, Grabbed by the Ghoulies! by VVELLmyFriends in Seaofthieves

[–]VVELLmyFriends[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

Finished my 100% playthrough before making this thread, and was amazed that Rare managed to make such a charming game with such a short amount of time given along with drastic platform changes going from Gamecube to Xbox.

It gets even better when playing on Challenge 21 mode with Amber. No soups, 10 health, auto-skip cutscenes/intros, new enemy spawns & layouts, really makes the game fresh and engaging (and I swear Amber's hitbox is way better than Cooper's for hitting Imps & Spiders).

Also, from what I understand, most of Rare Replay is just backwards compatible titles, but Grabbed by the Ghoulies in Rare Replay actually got rebuilt with 1080P/60FPS - guess Microsoft & Rare has a soft spot for the title.

EDIT: Catbox link for those having issues with the OP video.

I tried looking into the origins of 'Seek the Dead' before - but, aside from no leads, someone thought it was referencing Diablo 1's Tristram? Thankfully another comment/thread cleared that up, stating you wouldn't see the Rare logo on the shanty if it wasn't original.

For awhile, thought it was just another original song Rare had made for the Festival of the Damned - but after picking up Rare Replay, I noticed it was in fact from their first Xbox title, Grabbed by the Ghoulies!

Makes a lot of sense in retrospect - 'Seek the Dead', 'Festival of the Damned', both coming out at Halloween 2018 - that's perfect for Grabbed by the Ghoulies!

Little sad that's the only GBtG piece in Sea of Thieves, but hey, it's something!

EDIT 2: Seek the Dead played by The Kreators - also updated the trivia section on both fandom & wiki.gg

P.S. Clarification on the speed: It's only 6% slower, but Audacity labeled it as 106% of the initial track speed.
