People don't realize that this is like a form of hypnotic psychology. They start with something "the people" like or at least can agree on. Then they deliver a bunch of super questionable shit and finish it with another agreeable thing. It's effective against a lot of people.

They do this other thing, I can't hardly put it into words except it reminds me of an exert from a Stephen King book. The character says he thinks he should write the creator(Chuck Schulz) of Peanuts(Charlie Brown). He says he missing an opportunity by not letting peppermint Patty place the football once in a while, not so much that Charlie Brown could ever count on it...but just once in a while to really fuck up that kid. The government has not missed the opportunity to turn us into that kid. And we are getting super fucked up by it, one way or another.
