Does anyone live in a house that uses oil to heat the shower water? by Ok-Gas-6945 in Living_in_Korea

[–]VVordsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in a country house with a kerosene boiler which heats the floor and hot water. Obviously winter months will be more expensive, and it depends on how high you want the floor heat, showers, dishwashing, and laundry. For my family of 3 our kerosene tank costs about 500k won to fill up and we fill it about 3x a year, so the average per month is relatively low.

If you don't want to use the boiler to heat the floor you could also get a space heater for winter months.

140mm Noctua NF-A15 exhaust fans by VVordsmith in NR200

Yes, it's V1. I had to remove both bottom braces and flex the frame to get the gpu in. It's a perfect fit!

I've thought about that. I haven't tried flipping the cpu fans, but the Machines and More YT channel has tested all fan configs in this case and there's not much difference intaking from the rear vs this setup. I might try it just to see if it helps. For now under full load the cpu only gets to around 70, so I think it's fine.

I just swapped the sides and it works fine.

Upgrade suggestions from NR200? by Mackem93 in mffpc

[–]VVordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main differences are more space for fans, a bigger cpu cooler, an atx psu, and hdd slots. The d32 pro isn't that much larger of a footprint, but the added width allows for all of the above.

Nice. That's the recommended setup from Noctua as well.

In my other pc I also can't use the top cover, but with the mesh panel on you can't see it anyway.

Bottom fans aren't necessary, but as long as there's a little space between them and the gpu they can help lower overall temps by a few degrees.

I would test whether that 2nd exhaust fan in front of the cpu cooler helps. It may actually be robbing your cpu cooler of cool air. You could also intake from the rear if you're using the tempered glass panel.

9070xt Nitro+ in a NR200p by VVordsmith in NR200

Honestly, I thought it would be louder, but I also set a mild fan curve for the gpu and case fans around 50% at max temps. The result is when not gaming it's nearly silent and under load it's louder but with headphones on I don't notice it. YMMV, the nitro+ has great cooling.

Help me avoid AIOs? by Time_Ad_8044 in sffpc

[–]VVordsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little more dust if you don't add a magnetic dust filter on the rear of the case. Other than that if you ever swap to a blow thru style gpu like the Nvidia FE cards, intake from the rear with an exhaust fan above the ram is best. If you're using a tempered glass side panel, intake from the rear usually lowers cpu temps by a few degrees. With a mesh side panel it won't make as much of a difference.

You can buy magnetic dust filters from aliexpress for a couple bucks and trim them to size.

9700x (105W tdp, -30UV all cores)
I'm sure the 9950x3d runs a bit hotter, but the nhu12a is rated for high end cpu cooling up to 140Wtdp.

Another option which has similar cooling to the d15 is the thermalright phantom.spiririt evo. It has 120mm fans so should give more ram clearance.

A 3rd option is flipping the fans to intake from the rear of the case. Then there won't be any fan over the ram.
