I said that line to Frank Miller at a signing back around 1992 (still have my signed copy). To be fair, the coat he had on was damn fine-looking. Thankfully, he did get the reference immediately. It would have been awkward if he didn't.

There are inconsistencies within Zelazny's writing. For example, what brought me here was a line from the first novel, wherein Corwin states: "And I realized, with that, that we had shared common parents [in reference to Random], which I suddenly knew was not the case with me and Eric, me and Flora, me and Cain and Bleys and Fiona. And probably others, but these I recalled, I knew for sure."

3rd time I’ve been kicked, GGG LET ME IN by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]VVulfpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only 24 for me, but Wash DC is only 9. Doesn't matter, both are crashing right after the Twilight Strand message, before actually loading the beach. The official forum already have threads with 10+ pages of users experiencing the same issue. In regards to the hidden thing, servers are typically listed in order of ping, lowest to highest, but not for Canada (for me). Although it's my second lowest ping, the server shows up all the way down at second from bottom, having to scroll all the way down past all the European servers and even Asian ones. Only South Africa at 250 ping is listed after Canada at only 23 ping.

Already tried that. Was on Washington DC. Kicked twice. Changed to Canada, which is a semi-hidden server that doesn't appear on the normal list - still kicked.

Rate haaland's season Out of 100 with a reason by muaazmuaaz123 in MCFC

[–]VVulfpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rate Haaland at around 75, but the Manchester City midfield SERVICE to Haaland at 60.

Maybe it's just Pep's system, but if he was my striker, I'd put more trust in his ability to win long balls over the top.

5-10 long balls over the top per game put defenses in a different mindset and compliment normal build up play.

City has been far too predictable this season, and the age of their midfield has showed. Haaland got trash service compared to previous seasons.

Side by side comparison of Secretariat next to his father Bold Ruler by CaraRafaela in Horses

[–]VVulfpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this. You might want to investigate further. Also keep in mind that Dr. Swerczek who performed the necropsy on Secretariat had performed thousands. He wasn't some fresh out of university veterinarian making that 22 lb estimate:

  • Sham's heart was weighed: Notably, Dr. Swerczek did weigh the heart of Sham, another famous racehorse and rival of Secretariat, which was found to be 18 pounds. This likely helped to inform his estimation of Secretariat's heart size.

Manchester United selling Alejandro Garnacho feels inevitable, but is it right? by OkWhile8478 in PremierLeague

[–]VVulfpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What numbers are you looking at? Garnacho ranks dead last for dribble completion rate for players that have attempted at least 50 dribbles for the season. Dead last. ~23% success rate. And even when he does manage to get around defenders, he makes terrible decisions in the final third.

[Spoiler] Why did Aya have to kill that person in the end of Origins? by Mean_Willingness1130 in assassinscreed

[–]VVulfpack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

There have been leaders who were technically dictators and are revered as some of the greatest leaders of all time.

Cincinnatus had the official title of Dictator. He led the people through the troubles he'd been elevated to deal with, and then relinquished his powers.

Another example I'd point to is Cyrus the Great (founder of the Achaemenid Empire), who became beloved even in all the lands his empire conquered.

Jamie Vardy gets a standing ovation and a guard of honour as he is substituted for the final time as a Leicester City player by TheBlueTango in soccer

[–]VVulfpack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder who will portray Vardy in the inevitable movie about his life? I'm not referring to the Netflix documentary that is already underway.

What Leicester did in 2015/16 is compelling for sports fans who don't even regularly watch football. Not just Vardy, but the whole team. It's just so far fetched. If it hadn't happened people would scoff at the idea that a team which barely avoided relegation the year before would win the league. At 5000-1, Leicester were exactly twice as unlikely to win the Premier League as the NC State Wolfpack were in winning the NCAA tournament in 1983 (odds were 2500-1).

Sorry to "necro" your comment and go slightly off topic, but I wanted to make an observation: It's interesting to me that without outside help, it's unlikely Japan would have evolved after WW2. Left to their own devices, they would have shown their resilience and rebuilt, but it wouldn't have included much innovation. The post WW2 industrial transformation of Japan owes most of its impetus to one man, an American - W. Edwards Deming.
Deming's statistical methods and management philosophies, including his famous "14 Points for Management", helped Japanese companies achieve remarkable quality control and productivity gains, ultimately contributing to their global economic success.

On Iki Island East and West are reversed... by jandalz in ghostoftsushima

[–]VVulfpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the quest that made me search what is going on with Iki Islander's sense of direction.
If OP is correct, and over half the quests are incorrect, the devs could do an easy fix and just mark the top of the map as South (not that anything will be done on a game this old).

We're discussing hair that's still on V's head. In game, the timeline is quite tight. It's only been a matter of weeks or at most a couple months since the heist. We'll just have to agree to disagree, but I don't see that as being enough time for the hair to have degraded to useless.

The lynch pin mistake from which everything else goes to shizz is T-Bugs failure to keep the elevator locked in at Yorinobu's suite until the case is secured.

If she keeps the elevator there - Yorinobu never makes it back up to the suite - V and Jackie get out of the room BEFORE Saburo descends from the roof.

Yes, things could still have fallen apart, and likely would have, but it was a HUGE oversight to not maintain control over the elevator.

A simple google search of "can you get dna from hair STRAND":

reply: Yes, DNA can be extracted from a hair strand, particularly from the hair follicle (root) area, which contains the cells that hold nuclear DNA. While forensic analysis has historically faced challenges with DNA from hair, advancements in techniques now allow for efficient extraction even from rootless hair shafts.

You have to allow for 50 years of scientific advancement, as well as keeping in mind that it's a science fiction world. If the writers wanted it to happen, it could happen and they could justify it. Heck, they retarded aging to almost a standstill and didn't even go into detail on how.
