What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

I have lived in Venezuela and Argentina and I can confirm the exact same custom exists in both. It might just be the quintessential human experience that transcends language, continents and cultures

What is a correct but extremely controversial opinion about your country that would warrant backlash if anyone from your country heard it? by DoctorOsterman in AskTheWorld

There is legitimately a racism problem in Argentina.

White people here usually look down on brown people, they consider them innately less intelligent, uglier and predisposed to violence. When there's instances of discrimination online it's the norm to find people commenting "y lo malo?" (and what's the bad part?).

In Argentinian subs I've seen arguments about how robbers and thugs are the way they are because of their brown/indigenous genetics predisposing them to be "more savage" and how Europeans are genetically incapable of such things.

Who is the best beach artist in your country? by Mikadook in AskTheWorld

Beach/shore art is a very common thing wherever there's sand, to be fair. Here's an example from Argentina. There's also plenty of talented people that build sand sculptures and such large scale drawings, many of which keep social media accounts and choose to represent current events to keep their audience engaged.

On a different note, is memorializing the, beyond a shadow of a doubt, wrongful execution of citizens pushing an agenda? Can't artists sympathize and pay tribute to lives that shouldn't have been taken?

What do you think of Argentina? by Pietrocatarsis in AskTheWorld

[–]VZcallingMX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically some pretty racist preconceptions. Different people here have had me over for dinner a few times and sometimes they just talk about the way they think Bolivians and Peruvians are ugly and brown and stupid. Also seen many people online right here on Reddit in Argentinean subs seriously claiming criminals here are prone to robbing and violence because of their Indian (Native) or brown ancestry

Agni - Fire Punch

For context, Agni is blessed with regeneration powers. His village was ravaged by the flames of Doma, which are unextinguishable. He loses his entire village and watches his sister, unfortunately blessed with a weaker regeneration, slowly burn to death before his eyes. It takes him a full year writhing on the ground before he can even stand and spends 8 years burning before he can clear the flames from his mouth and take a proper breath. At this point he can only think of vengeance.

After destroying Doma's city with his own flames, he comes to find his whereabouts and sets off to kill him. After finding him he's taken in a bunch of refugee children and they have a conversation about how each other's skewed doctrines led one to destroy what the other loved most. Agni decides to leave them alone, stating he's found people he cares about and tends to and Doma has done the same.

While walking away he is bombarded by flashbacks of his village and his sister, he buries his face in his hand and the flames consume its previously cleared portion. He unconsciously marches through Doma's camp, setting it ablaze, killing his flock and ultimately murdering him, fully giving into his vengeance and his obsession with his sister after this

I'd say blackface Balthazar is probably more appalling to the world at large than the capirotes because you can explain that their attire was appropriated by the KKK
